What's the next concert you're going to see? or tell us all about your last show that you went to. I'll be going to see Queensryche, Alice Cooper, and Black Sabbath with Ronnie James Dio on Saturday Sept. 15. I'll tell you all about it after the show.

The next one I plan to see is Charlie Daniels at the Palace Theatre in Albany NY on Oct 19th.
The last show I went to was Ted Nugent on June 27th at Northern Lights in Clifton Park NY. BEST. SHOW. EVER. Waving AK's on stage almost beat out his encore, where he came out in the Comanche headdress and played Great White Buffalo. It made standing for 3 hours in a non-airconditioned bar arse-to-arse with sweaty strangers TOTALLY worth while. If you ever get the chance I highly recommend seeing him.

Last night I went to a concert in Sunrise, Florida (Fort Lauderdale) and saw Queensryche, Alice Cooper and Heaven and Hell (Black Sabbath with Ronnie Dio).
Queensryche was on the mark! They came out and tore the roof off with classic songs like Silent Lucidity and Eyes of a Stranger which was their closer. Here's a link to their perfoormance of it a night earlier Eyes of a Stranger (http://www.roadrunnerrecords.com/blabbermouth.net/news.aspx?mode=Article&newsitemID=80830)
Alice then came out next and this was the fifth time I've seen Alice dating back to 1974 when he was still with the original Alice Cooper Group. This was by far the best show I've seen him do since '74. He was theatrical as always, but I think being in this big lineup gave him a sense of having to "step it up" a bit. The band was tight and Eric Singer on drums was phenomenal. Because Alice wasn't headlining, the somewhat shorter set consisted of a good mix of medley's where Alice would go right from a chorus of Dead Babies into Killer and then I Love the Dead.
Then came Heaven and Hell. I saw Sabbath with Dio back around 1980 during ther Black and Blue tour when they co-headlined with Blue Oyster Cult. Their list of songs then consisted of a good portion of old Sabbath and they totally rocked. Last night's set was just culled from The Dio albums and to be honest, it blew chunks. Tony Iommi was on fire on guitar but he couldn't save the show. The songs were too drawn out, and lacked enthusiasm. Even Vinny Appice's drum solo was kind of bleh. I think the only reason why we called them out to do an encore was to see if there was something we were missing...painfully, that was a huge mistake.

I saw Motorhead last night, Lemmy can still rock.
2 other bands on before him tried to compete soundwise but didn't have a hope.

Last concert I saw was Wu Tang Clan. I know this is the rock forum but they were the last I saw.
Last rock band I saw were Muse I think.
Next concert is Mos Def, AIM and Herbalizer at the Warehouse Project. Again, not rock, I know.
I wanted to go and see Biffy Clyro but didn't get around to getting tickets.

Wow, I just have to tell this concert story because it's too good. My son (HCRs own DisturbedChild) and I got to sit on the side of the stage at the Rush concert last night about 5 feet from where Geddy Lee stands and plays.
This is what happened; The company I work for is involved with the band and we recently re-inked the contract and I had gotten tickets to the show through their management company and they also got us tickets to the bands meet and greet before the show. The meet and greet is just that, no autographs, shake hands and get a picture taken and go on your way. Neil Peart doesn't do these things so the only guys you meet are Alex Lifeson and Geddy Lee.
My son who plays bass was in heaven getting to meet Geddy Lee and I thought it would be cool if he got his picture taken with the band by himself and I'd get mine taken with two of my co-workers who were there with us also. My son gets his picture taken and goes off into the next room and I get mine done and it happens so quick I don't think I even smiled, I think I bewildered  . I go into the next room and there's DisturbedChild with one of the band's road crew. I'm thinking, "What could he possibly do in 30 seconds that got him pulled out of line?" and the guy pulls me over and tells me that my son was the grand prize winner. Hunh? Would we like to sit on the side of the stage on a riser and watch the show? Uhhhh, yeah. Of course.
We watched the whole Rush show from the side of the stage and were generally about 5 to 10 feet from Geddy Lee at all times. My son told me he was having a mental orgasm. To get to our seats we were walked from the backstage area to the riser where we'd be sitting and we passed a rack of about 10 Fender Jazz basses all set up and ready for Geddy to play. I know my son wanted to reach out and touch one and play it, but we were moved past the display quickly (good thing).
At one point we sat down and Geddy came over to us motioning us to get up. I was embarrassed and looked around to see if maybe by chance there were other people sitting behind us that he could have been motioning to, but no...We were singled out. We got up on the next song and Geddy looked over at me and winked.
After the show on the way out to the car people were stopping us to ask how we got such great seats.
Before I forget, the music was great and Alex ended the show by bringing out a white Gibson ES335 for the final two or three songs including the ender YYZ after having played the rest of the show with a beautiful variety of Gibson Les Pauls.
