Wow. The Broncos game was quite a game. When Cutler fumbled and lost 10 yards with a minute and a half left I thought it was over. But wow.
I'm pissed Travis Henry didn't get a TD though. He had almost 200 yards! He did ALL the work, and got no reward. blech

I know that this isn't my league and I know that nobody on here is making like the Patriots, but just to stop any future arguments before they start, it probably isn't a good idea to edit your original picks post. It might be a better idea to just cut and paste the original post and add the w's and l's to that. But like I said this isn't my thing, so if snaksder says its cool then its cool.

Well, we just lost one that nobody on here expected us to lose (as I believe everyone picked the Saints). And we lost it in a horrible embarassing way.
I don't know what is wrong with our offense, but it looks absolutely horrible. Oakland has a better offense than us so far.
And our pass defense? I don't even want to talk about that.

Detroit= no surprise.
They have Kitna, who's a friggin beast. Roy Williams, who is a veteran, with a huge reputation as a monster. Calvin johnson, who's the first round pick beast, and McDonald who they picked up in the off season, and could easily be a number 1 WR. They're passing game rivals the Bengals.

And we also have Mike Furrey, who had 98 receptions last year (second most in the NFL).

13-2 so far :)
Guess I should add my Monday Night points for the PHI/WAS , which I figure to be : 35 points.
I like Niners and Bengals. Niners put another close victory on their record and they are gonna be in the 2nd round of the NFC playoffs this year. Bengals had a shootout with Cleveland and lost ( sad thing is before that last interception they were driving down and looked to win that sloppy one ).
I'm sorry but the Saints are being seen for what they are. The NFC is weak. They got a tougher schedule this year and teams are blowing up their secondary. The charm has faded off Reggie Bush and they need to realize that McAllister is who you give the ball to , to make everything work. I figured they'd bounce back and beat the bucs though.
I still figure Patriots/Bears Superbowl. Can't wait for DAL/CHI next week.

I disagree with both the 49'ers and the Bengals.
I don't think the 49'ers will get past the first round of the playoffs, and thats even if they get into the playoffs (they play the in the tightest division in football).
I also don't think any charm has faded off Reggie Bush at all. If anyone is going to say that Reggie Bush isn't a good football player, than they are just ignorant (not saying that you said he wasn't a good football player or that you're ignorant). He is overrated, I definately think that. But he is also a good football player, and giving the ball primarily to Deuce is a bad move. Deuce isn't in the shape that he used to be in, so you can't give him that many carries a game. Reggie Bush is the future of the Saints' rushing game, so you have to get him the ball in order for him to work out the kinks and be as good as he can be.
And I also have confidence that the Saints will get into the playoffs. The NFC is weak, and I still believe that the Saints are a good team. Sean Payton has made the same mistakes the last 3 games (including the Bears game) that has lost him the game, and that's not running it enough early. Even when you're down 14-0, you need to run the ball. Especially when Deuce is averaging 4.9 yards a carry. Running the ball 20 times a game and passing it 44 times is never good.

13-2 so far :)
I only went 11-4 this week. But, on the bright side, I'm 24-6 going into Monday night (would be 25-6 if we had enough time to pick the Colts-Saints game in week 1, cause who in thier right mind woulda picked the Saints there...).
Not a bad overall score I think....

So far this week I'm 8-7:disappoin , a few teams I thought for sure would win stunk it up this week. If Philly loses it sure ain't going to help me none this week. I will be at an even .500 for this weeks picks.
For the season I'm 19-11, so far. Hoping I'm 20-11 if Philly wins.
Edit: Stupid, stupid Philly. I just went 8-8 for the week and 19-12 for the season. Grrr...

I disagree with both the 49'ers and the Bengals.
I don't think the 49'ers will get past the first round of the playoffs, and thats even if they get into the playoffs (they play the in the tightest division in football).
But I guess we'll see at the end of the season.
Finished 13-3 for the picks this week :)
I guess I should've clarified that I'm a fan of both the 49ers and Bengals (1989 Superbowl !) . The stars would really have to align for the Bengals to make the Superbowl. I think the 49ers win their division, its a competitive division but they finished strong last year and winning 2 close ones so far is a really good sign. I think they get a favorable playoff matchup and advance, but alas that time period is 14-15 weeks away.

I have Reggie on my Fantasy team as well (but I have Marion Barber, too, so Marion has been making up when Reggie has been missing). However, if I had Reggie, Deuce, and Marion I would probably field Reggie and Deuce together because of the defense that Marion is going up against (the Bears).
I need the consistency of Marion Barber with the random home-run ability of Reggie.
But, hey, that's just if you can field 2 RB's in one week (my league allows me to do that).
Sidenote: You can see how I feel about Deuce right now. He isn't running bad when he has the ball (for instance, he was averaging 4.9 yards a carry against Tampa). I understand that you have to throw the ball more when you are down, but even down 14 to nothing you need to give Deuce the ball. He is your rock, and your consistancy. I hope Sean Payton recognizes that.

Now see, if I were you I would field Tom Brady as well. You know he is in his groove, whereas Drew needs to get into his momentum.
However, when Drew -does- get into his game (a la Kansas City in Pre-Season), it's going to be really hard to decide who to field then.
On another note, those are 2 very good Quarterbacks to have.

Yeah, I have them in an office league, with 8 players. Everyone was drafting RB's in the first two rounds, so I grabbed them both right away, since I had the 8th and 9th pick.

They made just enough and I , for one, am extremely relieved. I don't know whether Cincy's D showed up OR the Seahawks O played down to them.
Chiefs won. The only NFC West team to win were the Seahawks. Redskins lost (sorry Sniksder) and....I can only pray the Cowboys and Bears tear each other from limb to limb...injuring numerous players and ending in a 0-0 tie.

Wow, with Deuce out and the Saints going 0-3, I don't think I've ever been more depressed due to football.
The sad thing is, Deuce might not ever play on the Saints team again. It's going to be tremendously hard for him to come back from 2 of his knees being reconstructed in 3 years. He was one of my favorite players in the NFL, because he was SUCH a hard runner and such an incredible guy. It hurts me to see him go out like this.
If that wasn't bad enough, I am more mad at Sean Payton than I thought I would ever be. You absolutely cannot run the ball 14 times and pass the ball 45 times in a game. It's been like that since Chicago (where we had a HUGE pass-based offense), and we have been blown out in every game since Chicago. I think I see a connection. I understand that Reggie isn't Deuce, and that he isn't your power back. But you need to give him the ball on the ground. If you develop a rushing game, you can get your passing game going. If that isn't reason enough, with Deuce hurt you have to realize that Reggie Bush is the future of your running game on your team. You have to get him accustomed to running the ball often, and he will get better and he will make plays.
Of course, it all comes down to the fact that we have lost the past 3 games in the trenches; at the line, on either side of the ball. Vince Young was rushed once, maybe twice all night last night while Drew Brees was rushed virtually every single passing play, and that was with a 3 or 4 man rush. We have, arguably, the best D-End pair in the NFL (before this season), and we can't even pressure the quarterback. We also have a Pro-Bowl Left Tackle who can't block to save his life right now, with Jari Evans supposed to be doing just as good (as Jamal Brown, our Pro-Bowl Left Tackle). You can't totally blame Drew Brees when he is under attack on absolutely every play.
It's scary right now, and I just hope to God that this bye week can get us in shape. I am certainly not considering us out right now. By no means, actually. I keep telling myself, my friends, and my family "Hey, don't get worried; 13-3 is a great record" We might not go 13-3, but it's always better to be optomistic and have the kinda attitude.
I hope, more than anything, that Sean Payton realizes he isn't doing well and that he needs to RUN THE BALL.
On another note, my fantasy team won due to Drew and Marques having horrible nights (my opponent had them), and Reggie Bush getting our only 2 TD's.:cheeky:

I can understand and feel the frustration. I'm not a Saints fan, but I'm definitely a Drew Brees fan, and last night was just....I don't really know how to describe it. He seemed to be freaking out for the first half, throwing the ball wildly about, and not hitting anyone.
I will second that Sean Peyton is being rather stupid. I hate hate hate hate HATE when head coaches call a timeout when their team has got some momentum going. He did it all 3 times during the first half, and I just about screamed at the TV. And I will also second that Bush needs the rock.
Where the hell was their O-line???? I don't think those guys were slowed down at ALL trying to get to Drew. And on top of that, they weren't committing anyone to the pass rush!!! They had 7 guys in the backfield, and NO still couldn't block their 4 on the line. :ermm:
Their defense has always been a weak point of their team, but they really don't fail due to talent. They fail due to horrible horrible mental mistakes. Like committing 8 players to chasing Vince Young in the Red Zone, when he has nowhere to go. What do you know? He passes in for a TD to someone completely uncovered! How about that??
I still think they'll eventually spring back, but I think the real question is: "How long is it gonna take?" :(

Even now, and I say this out of truth and not just ignorant optomism, I believe that the Saints can still bounce back.
But you're right. It's just a matter of when, and if they can do it in time to make the playoffs. Do I believe they can? I am sure of it. Do I believe they will? I'm not so confident in that area.
It all starts with the trenches, though. We need to get our O-line and our D-line in shape. That's where the game is often decided. We do that, and our running game is opened up while our opponents' passing games are hindered. Their passing game is hindered, we will get the ball more often. We get the ball more often with an in-shape O-line, we run the ball more effectively. We run the ball effectively, and it opens the passing game.
That's how we did it all last year up until Chicago, and that's how I want it now.:ermm:

Denver Indianapolis should be an awesome game!
That's going to be one of the toughest Pass Defenses that Indy will face this year, if not -the- toughest. Right now, they are ranked the best with allowing an average 88 passing yards a game (which is incredible). But hey, I guess that's what you get whenever you have Dre Bly, Champ Bailey (easily the best Cornerback right now, and one of the best Cornerbacks in the history of the game), and John Lynch all as your D-Backs.
Or maybe it's because they're so easy to run on.

Champ Bailey (easily the best Cornerback right now, and one of the best Cornerbacks in the history of the game),
Seconded, thirded, stamped, approved, and preached.
Every QB that throws to the guy he's covering, is a moron. On the upside, the ball will definitely be caught. On the downside, it won't be his receiver catching the ball.
If I saw my receiver being defended by Champ Bailey, I'd pretend he didn't exist anymore. There's no reason to throw ANYWHERE NEAR this guy.

I saw a stat this season that had to do with Champ and Marvin.
When Indy had Marvin before Denver had Champ, Marvin averaged 1.3 Touchdowns a game and over 100 yards receiving in each game.
Since Denver got Champ? Marvin has only had an average 44 yards a game and only 1 touchdown in the 3 or 4 games that they have played.
And that's saying an awful lot considering Marvin is one of the best Wide Receivers in the game with the best quarterback in the game throwing to him, yet Champ can still shut Marving down by himself.

Subject to change at the end of the week:
Miami at Houston - Houston needs to win this game. If they lose this game, they can pack everything up.
Atlanta at Tennessee - Tennessee is for real, folks.
Jacksonville at Kansas City - Isn't it amazing how, when they decide to pass the ball, LJ can rush for over a buck? I think they have a name for that, but I'm not sure. Something that sounded like, "Jalanced offense". I don't think that's it, but it sounds awfully similar....if they keep passing to Bowe, and opening up the run for LJ, they're going to be workable. Jacksonville sucks.
NY Jets at NY Giants - The Giants are inconsistent at best, but the Jets suck.
Carolina at New Orleans - Everyone's wanting for New Orleans to win this game, and so am I. They've got to win a game sometime this season. It might as well be at home against a newly demoralized Carolina. I might caution, however, that last year, when NO was awesome, Carolina beat them at home....
Arizona at St. Louis Rams - Warner, Leinart, whatever. Not like the Rams care anymore... :(
Cleveland at New England - One of two upset picks I'm making this week. Cleveland SHOULD be 3-1 right now, but instead they had a blocked kick by Oakland at the end of the game. And they didn't let that get the best of them. They dismantled the Ravens' Defense, and held them off in the red zone consistently last week (although, Baltimore has always struggled in the red zone, offensively). And say what you will about New England's win over Cincinnati, but I was thoroughly unimpressed with their performance against what is largely one of the most dismal defenses in the league. 34 points is NOTHING compared to what they should have scored in that game. Look for the Browns to catch the Pats napping, folks.
Seattle at Pittsburgh - I'm a Steeler fan, it's true, but I don't blind pick for my team. I really think that Seattle needs to get some things together for their offense. They're still severely under-utilizing their offense. We might see them snap out of it this game, but I think being on the road in the Steel City is the last thing they need to kick-start their O.
Detroit at Washington - Jon Kitna is officially insane. He's been sacked more times than anyone else so far this season, but he has more passing yards than anyone else this season. When this guy says he's going to get the team 10 wins, he friggin' means it! I'm continually inspired by the numbers he's putting up. This guy is a game manager has-been that decided to step up to the plate, and give out a career season. I advise people to start paying attention. He's for real. His team's for real. IF his O-line decides to stop having tea-parties at the line of scrimmage, they're going to be THE most unstoppable offense this year. That's a big "IF" though....
Tampa Bay at Indianapolis - My other upset pick. Tampa Bay is for real, and they're going to be a sleeper. Garcia is NOT a game manager anymore. Whatever they decided to do with him, he's winning games, and his team is just on a roll. This will be a good test for Indy, as well. We'll finally see them take on a worthy opponent. If you can watch this game, do it, it should be fun. :)
San Diego at Denver - Turner's still coaching. 'Nuff said.
Baltimore at San Francisco - Baltimore is NOT that bad. Cleveland is that GOOD. Baltimore definitely needs to step up their red zone offense. They don't have Lewis to pound that ball in anymore. They're going to have to *gasp* find a different goal line play.
Chicago at Green Bay - Chicago's one and only consistent style of offense just happens to go against what Green Bay is the best at defending. And it doesn't help that Favre's on a roll. I heard some great advice I think Lovie should take up: Put Devin Hester in the QB position, and snap the ball in a wing formation every play.
Dallas at Buffalo - Um, yeah. 45-zip. On monday night. No, I'm not kidding.

I don't think Cleveland is bad, but I certainly don't think they're good. I expect their confidence to be lowered when they lose to New England. New England WON'T be caught napping. They never do. It's against Bill's way of coaching. He does hand out that humble pie for a reason, and he never underestimates a team.
The only other thing that I disagreed with, Thawmus, was your bold (very much so) statement that if the Lions' O-Line stepped up, they would be the most unstoppable offense this year. Just not happening. Jon Kitna is pretty good. He's not in the same league as Peyton Manning or Tom Brady. Roy Williams is pretty good. He's not nearly as good as Marvin Harrison or Randy Moss. Calvin Johnson is good, but he certainly isn't Reggie Wayne (yet). Tatum Bell and Kevin Jones are fairly good, but neither of them are nearly as good as Joseph Addai or Laurence Maroney, and to be honest Sammy Morris is just as good as both of them. Not only that, but neither of the Lions' Tight Ends are anywhere close to Ben Watson or Dallas Clark.
No doubt they would have a really good offense (they need it with that Defense), but it wouldn't be the most unstoppable offense out there.

That's not true. While they are certainly the smartest football team in the NFL, they've been caught sleeping before. And it's been happening more often in recent years. I can see it happening.

I would say that the players you mentioned don't want to win nearly as bad as their Detroit counterparts do. And don't forget that Kitna doesn't just have Roy Williams and Calvin Johnson to throw to. He also has Shaun McDonald and Mike Furrey, who are very good receivers as well. In a 4-wide formation, they pose a very large offensive threat.
Kevin Jones needed to split time with someone, and he finally got to do that more this year. He's not good enough to get 100% of the carries. Tatum gives him the break he needed to be successful.
And Kitna is, again, out-producing the rest of the league's QB's, while he's laying on the ground after, what is it so far? 18, 19 sacks for the season? He's got so much determination right now that I'm sure he'd play ball as well as he is if he was shot several times in the chest before the game. Of course he's not Peyton Manning or any of those QB's. But those QB's aren't having their career seasons. Kitna is.
Heart counts for more in football than most think. And Detroit's offense has more of it right now than any other offense in the league. And it translates into what you're seeing on the stat sheet.
No doubt they would have a really good offense (they need it with that Defense), but it wouldn't be the most unstoppable offense out there.
I think the Chicago defense would like to disagree with you.

Hey, when you lose 4 starters on defense (good starters at that), your obviously not going to be as good as normal.

Calling upsets of Tampa Bay over Indy and Browns over New England, but not Seattle over Pittsburgh ? Homer ;)
Unfortunately Seattle throttled the Niners last week and Pittsburgh faded to Arizona last week, if they don't get Heinz Ward back I figure they lose ( I picked them unsure of his status ).
Tampa Bay at HOME versus Indy I can buy that upset, but at home Indy is ridiculous.
And though the Browns are getting better under Derek Anderson, I'm not sure when the Patriots lose, if at all.

I'm still of the opinion that if the Seahawks D stops Willie Parker then the game is very much winnable. I just don't see "Air Roethlisberger" attacking them too much. Seahawks secondary is vastly improved over last year. So.........if Hines Ward is kept on the sidelines....
ALL THE BETTER!!!!!!!!! :devious:
There ya go. It's pretty much the "best" game going on this week.
The only game I'm waffling on is Jets/Giants.... I think I may have erred there.

Well, that's why they're upset picks. They're unlikely, but just picking the favorites down the board isn't going to get you ahead.

I might caution, however, that last year, when NO was awesome, Carolina beat them at home....[/I]
I would like to note that the only time that we had our starting offense out on the field (it was the last game of the season, and we had our bye in the playoffs already), we drove down the field and scored a touchdown. The only time that we had our starting defense on the field, Carolina was held to 6 plays and a punt.
I admit I think Steve Smith scares the hell out of me with our awful pass defense, but their win against us last year (at home) meant little to nothing.
On another note, sweet Jesus does San Diego need to run the ball. Not only is it fairly easy to run on Denver and they have LT, but they're going up against the best pass defense in the league.

I think the Colts are too banged up right now, and the Bucs will pull this week out for a win. They seem very solid right now.
New England will gets some points scored on them in the first half, then shut them down the second half.
Saints MUST win this game or it's going to be a loooong season. Run the ball! *EDIT with Carr pulling the trigger, the Saints got a nice early Christmas present.
Poor Chargers, Miami, and Rams...their horrible seasons have only just begun. The defense of these teams are staggeringly bad!
MNF: Dallas wins handily, but I think the Bills put up 2 TD's on them. They aren't THAT bad, and with maybe some life signs coming from Edwards at QB, they get a little something going in the first half.
5 TDs for Dallas and 2 TDs for Bills.
And my Titans are for real folks. That defense is tons better then I ever thought.

I didn't say it meant anything. I'm just saying it's going to be a tough game. Regardless of the factors involved, a win is a win, and psychologically, it'll still have to be dealt with.
On another note, sweet Jesus does San Diego need to run the ball. Not only is it fairly easy to run on Denver and they have LT, but they're going up against the best pass defense in the league.
This is why I hate Turner. In the last game, LT had over a buck in rushing after the first quarter or so. And then he stopped getting the rock. Because it made much more sense to stop doing what was working, and let Rivers lose the game again for them.
And yeah, I see him continuing to be so utterly stupid, and having Rivers try and throw to whoever Champ Bailey is covering all day. The day I start picking for San Diego is the day that Turner is taken out of playcalling, or fired.

I never once doubted that. Their defense is pretty good, no joke. And this is without Pacman, too. The real kicker is Vince (as if that isn't said enough). I don't know what it is about him, but he just wins games. Against the most impossible odds and with a team that isn't stellar against All-Star teams, he manages to carry the team and win. Winning is just something that Vince does.

And the Saints fall again. Sean Payton and his "let's not run the ball" attitude.
Mike just intercepts the ball and brings it to their 40. Sean Payton decides to throw the ball 3 times in a row? Are you kidding? Why wouldn't you run the ball? Every time that Reggie ran it up the middle, he got 5 - 6 yards. Every time he ran it to the outside, he either got no yards or lost a yard. So you decide to throw it? 3 times in a row? Jeez, Sean Payton really needs to step up the coaching.

What a piece of junk Hasselbeck played. He had all sorts of pocket protection and he couldn't make a play to save his life. I literally was screaming at the TV...."RUN THE BALL, MATT!" The Steelers gave him all sorts of room to run and he just tried to make a pass. Ugh.
I'm so disappointed to be a Seahawks fan right now. Losing is one thing. Losing like that......is utter BS. And unacceptable. The D did an admirable job and held up for 3 quarters. But they were just in waaaaaay too long.

In Alexander's defense, that cracked wrist is going to slow him down WAY more than he or his team wanted to believe. They had no business making him the starter yesterday. He had "Fumble" written all over him. That's why they never handed it off.
Hasselbeck isn't Michael Vick, either. He might have gotten a first down or two by scrambling with the ball, because he IS pretty fast, but I'm not sure that would have gotten anything on the scoreboard.
I've NEVER seen the Steelers' secondary play that well before. They usually blitz because their secondary is the weak point of their defense.....but they sent 3 or 4 all game. Maybe LeBeau is only doing this when Polamalu and Hampton are out? I dunno. Hope he does it again after the bye week.

As for Alexander playing, I agree. Bench the guy if he's not running well. Let Morris run the ball. He's more power than finesse and that could actually play well into changing up the tempo of the game.

Even if Dallas does win this game by 20 or more points, I will still be very impressed by Marshawn Lynch and Trent Edwards. For a rookie in his second start (Trent Edwards), the guy is doing phenomenal. I didn't even know who Lynch was whenever they drafted him, but he looks to be a really good draft pick as the guy just runs hard and has exceptional speed and quickness. Good receiver, too.

And, my professional analysis....
St. Louis at Baltimore - Baltimore needs to keep winning games, and start getting something done in the red zone, but St. Louis is going to be in trouble all season. This should be an easy win for Baltimore, but the final score will probably be 12-6.
Minnesota at Chicago - One of these teams has a balanced offense now. The other, sadly, does not.
Miami at Cleveland - Miami sucks hard. And Cleveland put up more resistance to the Pats than anyone else has this season. They're going to cream the Dolphins.
Washington at Green Bay - I really think Green Bay is the superior team, but their coach needs to start modifying his gameplan, based on the scoreboard. If you're up by 24 points at the half, hand the ball to Wynn, please....
Washington, on the other hand, is finding some great rhythm.
Houston at Jacksonville - Houston's been a contender at the start, but you can't depend completely on Shaub to get games won for you. This team has no running ability at all, and Shaub has nobody to throw to at all. Their defense is definitely one of the better ones, considering how long they're on the field each game. Jacksonville, however, has a very balanced offense, and Gerrard is looking better every game.
Cincinnati at Kansas City - In the blind hope that the Chiefs decide to use some smart playcalling on offense.
Philadelphia at New York (Jets) - I have a feeling that this might look like the Philly vs. Detroit game....
Tennessee at Tampa Bay - Vince Young needs to be a little less of a ball hog. I know he doesn't have anyone to throw to, but that's all the more reason to not put him in a position to throw 3 picks. Tampa Bay feels like a wounded animal now. This should be one of the better games this weekend.
Carolina at Arizona - If Arizona keeps playing the way they've been playing, they should walk all over Carolina. And Kurt will hopefully be able to focus more, now that Musical QB's is no longer a viable option.
New England at Dallas - New England is a superior football team. And they're going to be ready for this game. Dallas obviously has been looking ahead to this game for awhile (Exhibit A: this week's MNF result), but cmon now, this is New England.
Oakland at San Diego - Oakland is another team nobody is talking about, and San Diego has not convinced me yet. Plus, they haven't fired Turner....look for another big day for Culpepper, folks.
New Orleans at Seattle - They have to win eventually, and Seattle is severely wounded now in their running game.
Monday Night
New York Giants at Atlanta -43 points overall. - Will Harrington's touchdown passes to the opposing defense, match his offensive touchdowns? Find out on MNF!!!!

Vince isn't a ball hog, in fact I wish he would friggin' run with the ball more! He's trying to not be a Running QB so he's just chucking the ball into coverage. He's at his best when he runs and makes plays. He's just not a great pocket passer yet, and no we have no receivers. Moulds has been good, but Brandon Jones has dropped two in the End Zone and one WIDE OPEN against the Colts which would have given us a first down and a easy range Field Goal for Bironas. And he's our #2 guy!
Hoping for we trade Pacman Jones away for some decent receiver(s) or a draft pick to get a solid #1 guy, because we have NO deep threat. But I do agree the Titans v. Bucs game should be a blast.

I guess I feel differently, though I should say, his hogging the ball is more of a coaching error, than it is his ego. He's a great pocket passer, in my eyes, it's just that he has nobody to throw to. They need to do the same thing Pittsburgh needs to do: Draft a 6'5" WR that has hands.

Outside the New England v. Dallas game, which I don't think will be as good as everyone hopes, this is a pretty boring week. I love the weeks where I can watch the Titans then flip the channel to get the Steelers...little slice of joy.
St. Louis v Baltimore is my most boring game of the week pick! Just thinking about it feels like a thumb in the eye.

New Orleans at Seattle Seattle is just a different team at home.
Yup, they're the home team.
But still the losing team.
And Drew Brees comes out and plays like the 2006 Drew Brees!:)

Right now 4-8...ugh.
So picked the wrong upsets, NO beat the tar out of Seattle at home. Washington, Tennessee, and Arizona probably should have won but that what happens when you fumble in the Red Zone, bring in Kerry Collins, and Tim Rattay respectively.
But Seattle??? At home??? By the Saints??? Those were some of the worst play calls I've seen in awhile. And I don't want to down a good guy like Alexander, but he reminds me of another really good guy who after an injury lost something: Eddie George. Seems clear Alexander like George was, is winding down in his career but he won't see it. It will be rough because he'll want to be the man till he retires but if I was Seattle I would be thinking RB in the draft. He's lost a step. It might be just me, but he looks a far cry from 2005.

I really don't think he's lost a step. I think the Seattle O-line has lost a step, and not having his all-pro fullback doing lead blocks isn't great, either.
I mean, New Orleans busted through the MIDDLE of the O-line more times in that game than I care to count. That shouldn't happen. EVER.

First and foremost, congrats to the Saints. They won. Seattle lost. Badly.
Seattle is a bad team. Above all, you know what I saw last night????
No heart. No toughness. And Hasselbeck playing high school ball trying to make up for Alexander's ineptitude. Granted 2 of his top 3 receivers are out with injuries but that shouldn't affect the way you play. Yet here is Hasselbeck being described by the announce team as "fretful". You should never have fretful as a description of your all pro QB. EVER!!!!!
I think you guys are right in saying that Alexander will never be back. And is it wrong that I keep hoping they give new fullback Leonard Weaver the ball alot more. Him and Morris are the future, right now.
I watched Reggie Bush just turn on the turbo juice and blast past the Seattle D on sweep runs. He looked fast and fresh. Alexander , in comparison, looked old and used up.
I'm so glad I didn't fly up there for that game. I'd have been boo-ing with the crowd and rightfully so.
Once again, congrats to the Saints. Until Seattle finds their heart, I'm just going to assume a loss (not next week, it's the Rams and even I think the Seahawks are better than them.)

To be fair to Alexander, if there was one positive thing to say about the Saints in their first 4 games it's that they had a very solid rush defense. Joseph Adai is the only back that managed to run effectively against us. Williams in Tampa wasn't getting more than 2.5 yards a carry. Brown and White did a little better, but they weren't doing much on the ground either. DeAngello Williams certainly couldn't run against us. Granted, I think Alexander is better than all of those guys (or at least he used to be), but that has been the strong point of the Saints.
And to be honest, I think the Saints are quickly getting back into rythm. Drew was throwing beautifully, he had great protection, and Reggie Bush was proving all of those who said that he can't run up the middle wrong. Now if only Devery Henderson could catch close to as well as Lance Moore or Marques Colston...:cheeky:
Seattle's loss to a 0-4 (now 1-4) team is disguised, to me. The '06 Saints are almost back in full swing, which was a very tough team to beat last year, and Seattle had a few key players out.
On a more specific note, I understand that Matt wants to make a play, but PLEASE just don't lob the ball up when you really need a 3rd down badly just to give Josh Bullocks the easiest interception that he will ever get. Matt should know better than that.
