Bwishet!! i heard that the teaser trailer for Iron Man movie is out, and it's all raves so far! has anyone seen it already?? arg, blocked ang youtube at quicktime sa office PC ko!!! :confused:

Being a Batman fan I will automatically choose The Dark Knight over the Iron Man movie, but Downey's movie has me excited nonetheless. The extra-long trailer released in San Diego showed all 3 Iron Man Armors. The Mach 1 (Tin Can) Mach 2 (Tin Can with upgrades and weapons) and Mach 3 (Red and Gold).
I liked FF2, it was the one I enjoyed the most. Ghost Rider, meh... Spider-Man 3 was good just for the action scenes. The script could have been better.

finally saw it last night!! freakin AWESOME!!! goosebumps. and yeah, they didn't spare any for this trailer, since they already showed the armors. and mach 3 in flight, with the repulsor rays. wahhooo!!
robert downey IS tony stark. it's too eerie, i think he's perfect for the role.

(funny segue: do any of you follow the "Marvel v. DC: After Hours" video series sa YouTube? if not, you have to watch it. may away dun yung original nick fury and ultimates nick fury. nagtatampo yung original, ang tagal tagal na daw nyang marvel character. tapos, when he finally gets translated to the big screen, si samuel jackson version ang ginamit. lafftrip. hehe)
ako din, i'm so excited about Dark Knight. i think the casting there is also superb. at syempre joker na e! bitin nga lang yung teaser trailer. good enough, pero definitely "teaser" lang. hehe.
this year's assessment:
spiderman: good, but not great. they should have just stuck with a venom storyline pare hindi convoluted.
FF2: surprisingly, it wasn't bad. johnny as a quasi Super Skrull was pure fan service. hehe. although still disappointed with Galactus as a storm cloud.
Ghost Rider: ok lang. if only i can get over the fact that it was cage playing the role. di talaga bagay e.
300: Ha! the best! no explanations needed.

Actually, the white Nick Fury already had a TV film. Who was the actor? David Hasselhoff! WTF!?

Actually. Vic Sotto had intention of making a sequel of Lastikman since the first one was a success. Kaya lang since successful. Tinaasan yata ng mga Owner's yung RIGHTS for the Lastikman franchise. Kaya Bossing Vic decided to just make a NEW SUPERHERO (Fantastic Man??) Yung RIGHTS to lastikman was BOUOGHT by Ch2. Then had Mark Bautista PLAY lastikman. BOMBED at the movie houses. So since nasa kanila pa yung rights. Si Vhong naman. OF COURSE I don't REALLY care. HA HA HA

Hahaha. yup! kelan ba expected release date ng new frontier? damn, batman just won't be the same without conroy! but anyway, hindi biro yung voice casting for new frontier: lucy lawless for wondy, boreanz (angel) for GL, and doogie howser for Flash (if he uses his how i met your mother character, it will be legen-dary. hehe).

Upcoming na show will be WB Spider-man... mahina talaga Marvel sa mga Cartoons for tv nila... hingi pa sila ng help sa WB na DC lagi hawak... Also, may Trivia ako... did you know na nagbid tayo for the Iron Man cartoon... and mas maganda yung ginawa naming test kaysa yung final na ginawa... they settled for a cheaper studio in Korea.... sheesh... :confused:

haha. sagwang sagwa talaga ako dun sa 4 na naka pintura kay thing. nakakairita lang e. bigyan na lang sana sya ng costume kung gusto nila "thematic" ang dating nila. and actually, you're right. kiddiefied yung storylines, at least the few i've seen.
aba... intriguing yang young avengers na yan a. although sayang naman bakit kiddie avengers instead of the comic young avengers? baka pambata din ang labas nyan. hehe.

Alright. Just finished watching Superman/Doomsday. I only have one observation, and that is it IS TRUE to the comics in the sense that you know it's the REAL SUPERMAN if he's stupid enough to follow Luthor's directions and walk straight into a red sun room with Lex wearing Kryptonite Gloves. The clone never fell for that trick. *groan*
Watched Dr. Strange, the animated movie (Thanks, Tony!). ayos lang. kamukha ni Strange si Tony Stark. strange...Nothing spectacular.

DL muna pnanuod ko kasi mejo pangit initial reactions ng mga comic con people e.. and i don't think i'll be getting the DVD:squareeye
major concerns ko is the lack of commitment! astig mga fight scenes kaso ndi sila ngcommit 100% sa adult-content.. not enough blood and bruises.. masbrutal pa din yung comic book.. tska the superman clones e tinabunan ng broken glass butt cracks nila! ALL of their butt cracks! ang sagwa sobra nung part na yun.. imagine broken glass covering superman's butt!!
i seriously DON'T need that much violence pero half-baked e.. they didn't go all the way sooo sayang konte.. and NO superboy (boooo...) tska na-overuse nila yung face cut thing (frequent anime sequence..)
but the bottomline is.. this STILL owns dr strange, ultimate avengers and iron man!!! lugi tlga marvel sa animation side.. :knockedou

It was definitely better than the Marvel DVDs. I don't mind the slightly toned-down violence. I don't like the cheekbones on Supes though. He looks downright stupid with those lines. I find it funny though that the real Supes has a lesser IQ than his clone. The clone never fell for the Red Sun room like Supes did. Voice acting by Anne Heche and James Marsters was really good.
minamaliit ko rin yung avatar dati e, kasi made for american audiences. but when i saw the action sequences, asteeg. ang ganda ng animation!
alam ko na nga yang JLA movie na yan e. but when i heard that bale and routh are not playing world's finest, i sort of lost interest. ano yun, alternate universe? the way i see it kasi, if you're getting actors to play the franchise characters, one at a time lang. di pwedeng alternates. oh well.
as for news in that JLA movie, muntik na si jessica biel for wondy, pero humindi na sya. i also heard before that ryan reynolds is a lock for the flash. yung tom welling news, ngayon ko lang narinig yan, but it's a welcome casting call. at least kahit papano, may aura of authenticity pa rin yung actor for supes. ang problema na lang si bats... sino kaya?
but now it's catching my interest again... why? well, the storyline DAW is about a "Red Eye" system created by batman to keep tabs and information on his JL members....hmm... sound familiar? :)
supes-doomsday... finally watched it til the end. ok lang naman, tama si mikey, it still rules over its marvel counterparts. ewan ko, iba talaga ang writing pag dc/WB. i would have preferred the original voice (and art!!) actors for lois and lex, but fine performances nevertheless.

Well, the problem with Superman-Doomsday is that they made it thinking that most of the fans are familiar with the story, hence the story was kinda shallow and the highlight was more on the fightscenes.
No one beats the writing of JLU pa ren. Kasi yun nga they wrote it as if they were talking to a new audience. Bonus na lang if you're a fanboy and able to point out the differences. IMO it's more moving and it felt that the characterization was solid - which what Superman/Dday lack.
Now as for the Marvel animated flicks, yeah they're generally less enjoyable than DC's. Heck the Ultimate Avengers' biggest downfall is that they tried to make it a mixed up version of the Ultimates and the Avengers, which resulted in it looking too contrived.

Yes, i AGREE, 100 porsyentong lakas na pag agree, eugene! hehe
JLU is my all time favorite. the lines were brilliant and never condescending just because it was an animated series. and the humor was so refreshing. i remember that wonderpig episode! hahaha. batman singing "am i blue"...
and yes, the references to comic storylines were so cool. when i saw the source wall in the very last episode... aliw! hehe. :)

I don't feel as excited for the Wolverine movie as I should be. I'm afraid it might be another Elektra. I always thought they should have done the Wolverine movie first before the X-Men flicks. But that's just me.
Just do X4!! with the possible cameos of mutants they might have planned for the wolverine movie, it might turn out as X4 lite anyway. hehehe.
i wonder how far back they'll go. will they go back all the way back to the illustrious house of Howlett? :) i think if they treat this move right, and respect the comics storyline, they might have a gem in their hands. but if they focus too much on the Wolverine-Stryker angle... been there done that.. :rolleyes:
(hmmm... how's this for an idea: cast Famke Janssen as logan's childhood sweetheart Rose. supposedly magkamukha naman si Rose at si Jean Gray diba? hehe.)

this script was supposedly written way back in the 90s', and obviously some of the elements were adopted by screenwriter koepp when he wrote the script for movie1 (they shoulda given cameron some credit, he came up with most of the stuff after all). interestingly, as early as the 90's, cameron already came up with the idea of giving spidey organic webbing, and making MJ part of pete's highschool life, and the "familiar kiss" thing at the end. haha. cool. :)
looks like they'll be going as far back as the beginning... to the Howlett manor. and the boy they cast looks sickly enough to be the rich kid james. hehe. :)

the best yang wanted na comics. the premise starts with the biggest loser in town, office drone wimp talaga. turns out he's actually the son of one of the greatest supervillains in the world. the supervillain dad gets killed, so the kid gets recruited into the fraternity of supervillains. turns out, namana nya pala yung superpowers/skills ng dad nya. in this timeline, the fraternity of supervillains already has control over the entire world. daming references sa mga marvel/dc superheroes and supervillains. yung sh!tface na sinabi ko is a parody of Clayface. only, instead of being made of clay.... ah, you get the idea. hehehe. :)

Looks like all the big hits from the Dark Age of comics (the 90s) are getting their green light to film. So far, we have Sin City, V for Vendetta and the Watchmen.
Now we just need movies of The Dark Knight Returns and Ronin (both by Frank Miller).

I thought Jack Nicolson was a cool Joker, but I really like the fact that people are making Movies and TV shows as realistic as possible.
I heard something about a Ronin movie a while back, but no word lately. as for the Dark Knight Returns, i don't think they'll do that until they've squeezed the batman (and superman) franchise dry.
In the meantime - I hope they do Rorschach right in the upcoming Watchmen movie.

whenever i see jack Nicholson, i always see the joker! apparently, the weird way he (Nicholson) smiles and his upper lips form a clown's smile is no makeup-magic, its the real thing! hehe.
nicholson as joker was perfect, but taking nothing away from that, Ledger's version promises to be dowright psychotic and murderous. brilliant!(although.... there's also a danger that he'll turn out to be Beetlejeuce!hehe. see the resemblance?)

hmmm, the latest rumor is that... since both the Iron Man and Hulk movies are produced by the new Marvel Films outfit, hulk will have a cameo in iron man, and iron man will have a cameo in hulk (hulkbuster anyone? hehe). and rumor has it that nick fury (played by Samuel "motherf#*king" Jackson) will appear not only in iron man, but in Hulk as well. :)

Even if the story was compressed because of the strike, at least we're not left hanging the same way we were last year between episode 18 and 19. They tied up a lot of threads and introduced new cliffhangers. Hopefully HeroesClix is gonna be awesome.

Saw that Hellboy trailer, and it does certainly look brighter than the first one. The first one really took a lot of the aspects of the original comics, as well as some of the scenes and ideas. This one looks like a totally new story, unless the Golden Army has been featured in some of the recent HB series. Nonetheless, Hellboy looks AWESOME!
BTW, am I the only one excited about the upcoming Speed Racer movie? Ang kulit ng trailer, their costumes and hairstyles really mimic the original cartoon.
It's like anime... but it's not!! hehe. :)
judging by the trailer, great job by the wachowski bros of mixing the spirit of the anime with live action.
so to answer your question... hell yeah count me as one of those excited about speed racer. go!!
about HBII... this one has the feel of Xmen to it, since the team is already set, and hopefully each member will bring some solid action to the table. particularly abe-sapien... what was his slam bang action contribution to the first film btw?... oh yeah, stikcing his palm on a wall and feeling what's on the other side. wow! hehe. :)

yup! i'm actually excited about it, coz i think bale is perfect as john connor - he's gonna be bad a$s. this is set in the future. so this is the actual war between the machines and the human resistance. all those brief images of the future in T1 to T3, and now we finally get to see it. (they're still working on an arnold cameo. a short scene where bale gives instructions to one of the Arnolds he would send to the past wouldn't be too hard to fit in, i think).
the only drawback is that it's gonna be directed by the one and only McGee... yes, he of Charlie's Angels fame... darn. :p

most likely meron, and most likely the joker would be coming back somewhere along the line. for all we know, cliffhanger yung Dark Knight, setting up for a monumental clash between bats and joker in the next movie.
but now... oh well.. sayang. all i can say is... i sure hope they develop the Harvey Dent/Two Face substory well enough so he can carry on as the super baddie in the next film (and NONE of that Tommy Lee Jones laughing hyena act with two girl sidekicks, please). :p

They already cast Aaron Eckhart as Harvey Dent in Dark Knight, so maybe it's still him, for continuity. (at di pwede si Edward Norton, Bruce Banner na sya. I'm sure there's a non-complete clause between marvel and dc movies there somewhere... although James Marsden slipped through the cracks somehow. hehe) According to Chris Nolan, Harvey Dent has a key role in Dark Knight, so like Mikey said, most likely the trauma of Dent will happen in this movie and carry on to the next one.
Why, yes mikey. it was drew barrymore (white) and i think Debi Mazar (black). haha.Man, to this day i HATE you Joel Schumacher!!! :p

Elvin, Justice League New frontier was a really good movie. It's not the run of the mill animated movie. From the looks of it, it was based on the original comic's art. I liked it.

I wasn't quite sure wher to put this, but since this discusses upcoming hero movies i guess it's not so far from recently arrived super hero movies...:cheeky:
Elvin, Justice League New frontier was a really good movie. It's not the run of the mill animated movie. From the looks of it, it was based on the original comic's art. I liked it.
By the way guys, have you heard about the Dr. Strange Animated movie? Has anyone seen it yet?
I just saw it! it kicked As$!! a good movie, animated or otherwise. the characterization of all the main characters was seamless and the pacing of the story was superb. i also liked the animation style! much more than superma-doomsday. it gave the movie a genuine old-school feel. cool thing to see all the JLA characters in their "origin" looks! and Hal Jordan fans will certainly get a kick out of it. :)
even had a "michael bay" feel to it, specially those last parts. mwehehe.
Batman, Green Lantern and Flash rule in this one! :)
bad trip lang may konting black and white parts, although the DVD quality was still very good. definitely buying the original when it comes out.
matagal na lumabas yung strange. haven't seen it though. gave up on marvel animated movies after watching ultimate avengers 2. hehe. :p

actually the GI JOE movie is in pre-production already, and some of the characters have already been cast; it will be out by 2009. sadly, goddess belucci will not play the baroness. but, hey, i'd take Sienna Miller too, why not? hehe. :)

You have to remember they're trying to reel in all kinds of fans, including those who only know the JL from the recent Justice League cartoons, which did feature John Stewart as their main GL.
As long as the movie has a good story and strong visuals, I'm happy.

Trip ko talaga si hulk. You would know na sobrang sucky nung last Hulk at gumawa sila ng bago hahaha. He looks more organic and looks like it gives some homages to the comic runs of Bruce Jones (Banner: Fugutive :) ) and Mark Millar's Ultimates (what with him jumping off the helicopter...pero why he would do that is beyond me...wala na silang way para malabas si Hulk?)

I was kinda hoping for a buffed up Brad Pitt (His Achilles was just a tad short of the Viking deity's portrayal in comics... ). Just get him in the "300" Spartan workout and he's good to go.
Triple H is a fanboy wet-dream. Sure the WWE can out-act the standard Hollywood actor and he certainly has the guns for it. Still, when it comes to "unfamiliar" comics characters, it's best to go with an established "name" actor with some level of bankability and/or acting chops.

well, im kinda suprised na si Triple H pala ang napupusuan nila sa Thor pero from what i've last read it's either Brad Pitt (Geof-Force ayus ba? ^_^) or Matthew McConaughey... anyway matagal pa naman sya so post-production screenings and the auditions people may still study who would be really suited for the Norsegod...

As long as the movie is as fun as Iron Man was, I don't care who they'd cast as the God Of Thunder. If Brad Pitt takes a break from adopting orphans and considers this role, I'm all for it.
Are there any updates on the Magneto: Origins movie?

in 1 of the pages of the magazine that were printing, there is a portion of movie flicks, something like that, topic is Wolverine: origins, of course starring hugh jackman, gambit and sabretooth will be there. hindi nga lang pinakita si gambit and sabretooth but the pix of wolverin is in berserker mode!!!!:cool:

Vin Diesel looks more like a guy who could play Ares, or even Drax if you want to go all cosmic IMO.
Truth be told, Thor and Cap are really hard to cast because you're looking for ideal embodiment types. Maybe they could go the lesser known actor route like they did with Brandon Routh.

Excited ako sa Runaways. kaya lang baka naman cast lang "gossip girl" or one of those teen series and i-cast nila dito.

i think they realized that if they will make a JL movie, they have to tie it in with the other movies already made, and use the same actors. natakot sila sa "grand plan" ng marvel, with all these set-ups for the avengers movie. an independent JL movie just won't fly.

Dark Knight best superhero movie to date, IMO. quality wise, writing wise. if this wasn't a superhero movie, i would say it's a lock for an oscar nomination for best pic (syempre malabo yun precisely because its a superhero movie). Also, i think Marvel pictures can pull it off. ganda ng set up. and it doesn't feel like they're just milking the market (which is the feeling i got from the planned JL movie). so as long as they retain the actors in the previous films (downey, norton, sam jackson), my hopes are definitely up for the Avengers movie.
and with what DC has to offer (other than the next Batman movie, if there will be one), i don't think DC can catch up with Marvel's grand plan.
Count me in as a Dark Knight fan! Actually Dark Knight's soooo good that I don't even want to see a JL movie in fear it might mess up what Nolan has established. Pwede na ngang Ultimate Batman yung plot ng film. Joker's really well done, sayang talaga si Heath. He's a bigger threat that all the other superhero film villains combined.

BTW, anyone noticed that Aaron Eckhart aka Harvey Dent looks a lot like Captain Mar-vell. Hindi naman sa magandang gawan ng pelikula yung Mar-vell, kamukha lang talaga niya.

The Dark Knight isn't only the best superhero movie, it could be argued as one of the best movies to be released ever. Hay. After the movie, I felt so bad, dahil alam na ng lahat na this movie can never be continued (it will never be the same without Heath), nor could it be topped by another sequel (they can try, but I don't see it happening).
Two things though: one, ayaw ko yung mga Pinoy style fight scenes hahahahaha.. but then again, I didn't expect much from Dark Knight in terms of the fight scenes (unlike Marvel), sabi nga ni Joker, "Did you really think that this would come down to a fist fight?". Pangalawa, sana hindi nakacostume si Harvey Dent. =l First thing he does after getting out of the hospital is to get a tailor-made half and half suit??? Hahahahaha..
But other than those, the movie is/was/and ever will be perfect. Can't wait for the DVD to come out, yung hindi quiapo ha wahahaha..

and my personal favorite: "What doesn't kill you, makes you stranger." :)
Anyway, I read somewhere that the next movie will have villains that we've never seen before in film. So malamang hindi magcocomeback si Arnold as Mr. Freeze hahaha.. I was thinking maybe it will be Calendar Man or maybe Hush.. To show the detective side of Batman. But then again, pwede maging fanboy movie yung third (X-men? Spidey?), tapos puro supernatural villains...
May rumors then na pwede raw maging si Riddler yung accountant guy na nakabuko sa identity ni Bats. Pangalan niya kase, and yung tawag sa kanya sa buong movie: Mr. Reese hehe get it?

shet ang ganda nga ng dark knight! galing ni heath ledger.. kinain niya lahat ng ibang actors nang buhay! haha filing ko nga hindi si batman ang bida sa dark knight eh! panalo talga yung hospital scene na naka nurse outfit sha! hehe kaka depress talaga na wala na siya.. sana hindi nila gawin na rachel dawes type na casting na pinalitan lang nila ng iba.
haha! dami kong favorite joker lines! actually lahat ng lines nya parang favorite ko e.
altho pinaka favorite ko sa ngayon: "Do I really look like a guy with a plan?"

Panalo talaga yung sa lapis (pota natawa ako agad dun). and his first entrance dun sa mob meeting, shot from behind with him laughing, "ho. hee. haha. hoho. and i thought my jokes were bad."
POTA panalo talaga!! yup, char, definitely pang orig DVD to. blu ray or special edition, kukunin ko yan!
actually, you also have to consider na lahat ng CAST ang galing ng acting! next to Ledger, i think Echart did a spectacular job as Harvey Dent. his take on harvey dent, and when he finally became two-face. it was seemless. parang nasusuka na tuloy ako pag naalala ko ginawa ng tommy lee jones (actually kahit nun pa lang nasuka na ako, pero lalo na ngayon. hehe.). wala rin ako masabi sa performance ni Bale, gary oldman, at syempre si michael caine. mas magaling din si gyllenhall as dawes (although mas feel siguro yung love story angle kung si katie holmes pa rin yun).
other than the Joker, and the fact that the film itself is darn good, i'm amazed at how much respect they have for the batman comics franchise, particularly batman's relationship with joker. talagang hinuli ng movie yung eternal combat ni joker at ni batman. exactly like the relationship depicted in "the Killing Joke" and "Batman: Dark Detective".

- Ok. si Ramirez, alam ko sya yung sa The Batman series (tsk, tsk, ginawang bad cop). but from the way she was characterized, parang si Montoya talaga e. may dirty cop history din, may family na may sakit, at may konting history kay two-face. bat kaya di na lang si montoya ginamit?
I love the fact that by the ending, he's a vigilante again. truly, a "dark knight". ganda ng transition.
agree ako sayo charlon. it's beyond level of a superhero movie. actually while i was watching it the first time, i kinda forgot i was watching a superhero movie. basta movie talaga sya. possibly, (enter comic book guy) best.movie.ever! hehe.

How much longer do you think this incredible surge of popularity for superhero movies can continue?
I think probably six years. I think I said to you that I’m very interested in patterns, and a few years back I worked it out on a sine-graph. It was back in the mid-nineties, when everyone was losing their jobs – remember than in 1993-94 the industry halved it’s size, and then halved it’s size again the following year. Everybody was going ‘Oh my God, it’s the end of comics!’. But I just remembered the interview I’d read with Denny O’Neill the year before, and Denny O’Neill was saying in the 1980s that we could never have anticipated the graphic novel boom, because back in the seventies we were all losing our jobs. That got me really interested so what I did was to look at sales figures going across about six decades, and saw that patterns, which describes a peak in the forties, a trough in the fifties, a peak in the sixties…
It’s like any other economic cycle; there’s booms and there’s busts. And I remember just comforting myself in the nineties by thinking ‘You know what? We’re all skint right now, nobody can get any work, but in ten years’ time it’s going to be great!’. And I remember saying this to my friends. I hadn’t really had my break yet, so they must have thought I was a lunatic. I was saying I thought it was going to be really brilliant.
But I couldn’t really have anticipated guys like myself or Frank Miller holding onto the copyrights on things and getting lots of money from the movies and that kind of thing, but I just knew something great was going to happen. And this is it. But I think the next bust will probably happen around 2014, just as it happened in 1994. And that kind of ties in with the slate of movies that are coming up. I think we’re nowhere near the doom yet, I think it’s still building.
But you’ve got to think that by 2011 the Avengers movie will be out, and that’s going to be huge. And then 2013 I think is going to be the absolute apex of it. There’s going to be the Justice League movie, you’ll have Avengers 2, a new Superman franchise up and running…saturation! You’re going to be on Spiderman 5…and then I think it will all crash after that.

hahaha onga i agree with nolan and bale na lame si robin WITH batman. kaya nga sa batman comics bihira na ang batman and robin kasi ang lamya nila tignan haha. and remember dun nag start mag crash ang batman series na sinimulan ni michael keaton when it turned colorful and when they added robin. basta maganda sana talaga kung si robin si jason tapos papatayin ni joker kung di lang talaga namatay si heath!!!

We're all blown away by Heath Ledger's performance. My cousin even said she was more scared of him than Anthony Hopkins as Hannibal Lecter.
I am sad that he is gone. But I don't agree na this can never be done again. For a character as complicated as joker, you just need to find the right actor. So I hope it can still be done.
So don't take it to hard -- as the Joker says: "Why so serious?" :grin:
