A couple of buddies of mine when to see them way back in the day (Early 90's). One of their older sister's got them the tickets through her college radio station. My friends were going to interview John & John after the show. They thought, seeing a TMBG are a bit off the wall that they would ask them the strangest questions they could think of. John & John were not amused. They were escorted out after three questions (none dirty).

I've actually met them a few times after their concerts (they can be very accessible sometimes to their fans). They are very friendly and will always sign an autograph for you and thank you for coming to their show!
That being said, they do take themselves (well their artistic work) seriously, and do not consider themselves novelty musicians or a comedy band so when people DO ask them strange and weird questions they tend to get upset because I guess they don't want to be associated with JUST THAT.
But they do have a sense of humor (as anyone who has been to their concerts can testify).
