soo the final team alive was...

(let me check...)

Thomas Riker as the big hero. Will Riker, Deanna, Spots (Data's Cat) and the Red Shirt!

:p

Yeah, team Riker really cleaned up. Odd considering they had two cops and a vigilante.

if people havea carpy role, they get bored (much like Thawmus did after Carlos role claimed)

I didn't get bored, honestly. I was frustrated with how the game was going at that point, since our Mason team was effectively outed. I had to put our cards on the table at that point, to ensure that Carlos got protection, because there was enough hinting in his direction that I couldn't allow myself to be protected anymore.

And I've been powerless in other games and had a lot of fun with it. I think some people need to realize that there's more to this game than night phase targeting. There was still plenty for me to do after I did my one-shot investigation (which was Doombot, btw. I don't remember why, but we didn't want to disclose Carlos' next investigation, so I did my investigation instead and passed it off as my partner's).

And Carlos, I now apologize if you were offended by my snapping at you. Half the reason I did it was exactly why I said I did it: I didn't want you to implicate yourself, and make yourself a liability with rantings. The other half was that it allowed the Borg to ignore the both of us for the rest of the game. Everyone toyed with the idea that one or both of us were mafia or Borg for so long, that we were never a night target ever again. It's the same strategy I used to try and save teammates in other games.

Fact of the matter is, Carlos was a surprisingly excellent partner. I was lost on a lot of the Star Trek mythos, and he helped me get through this game considerably.

And I think this is the first time I've seen a 2-man mason team survive.....

Okay, now that I can post...

*smacks SStralkowski across the back of the head* Do you know how hard it is giving a person a power dependant on getting folks to repeat Star Trek phrases?

On the other hand, I do like the fact that "shenanigans" is now part of Mafia vernacular on the Realms. :)

When you were able to communicate with TAK, was that due to him repeating a phrase?

I think it was more due to someone else using a power as other folks got a chance to speak with TAK too. Dirty Klingons kept the deal with them but not the Ambassador who was trying to broker an anti-Borg set-up. Backstabbers. :p

I think JoH can confirm for us as well, but I'm pretty sure he "Uhura-ed" them into his little club of communicators.

Carlos was able to PM him early in the game. That scared the utter hell out of me.

Either way, the ability to "track" a target who repeated "Space the Final Frontier"? Not the best trade-off.

Well, the reason you were killed was because of TAK. The whole game he had seemed suspicious to us, especially when he said he could pm you and JoH. He even told you guys he was Klingon! Why? I have no idea. I asked him one batch of questions, and he answered them. However, I asked him twice to answer a second batch, but he didn't. Plus when he turned out to be B'etor, who had wanted to overthrow the Klingon rulers, I personally thought he had some sort of betrayal clause in his character description. Therefore I pm'ed turdburglar and Zombie Stomper about my suspicions, and the night after I was lynched Zombie Stomper had you killed.

Sorry man. I was happy that you got the role instead of someone else since I know you're a genius with words and manipulation. Every phrase had some conncection to Star Trek (except Shenannigans). In fact, most were starships. And the first one was tough just because I wasn't sure how well you'd do and I thought it better to not have you track EVERYONE on night 1. There was a learning curve for me as well. Then the one night I totally forgot to tell you your phrase. Stupid brain farts.

Ballad of the Red Shirt (apologies to I will Survive)

First I was waylayed
I got Borgified
Kept thinking I would never live
Would be cast out the side

But I spent too many nights
Protecting people from the fights
I got right
I learned how to come on tight

And so I'm back
In outer space
I just walked in here to see you
Accuse me with my Borg face
I couldn't change my stupid look
I couldn't prove myself to crew
But I never for one second
Said I wouldn't protect you!

Go on now, go out the ship
Just turn around now
I'm not welcome any more
Weren't you the one who tried to hurt me with the rope
You think I'd fumble
You think I'd lie around and mope?

Oh no, not I!
I did survive!
As long as I know how Batfink healed me
I know I did survive
I've got all my life to live
I've got Borg carp to discard
And the next order of business
Will be rezzing ol' Picard!

I DID SURVIVE!

I have to agreed in all. even without powers you can help to figure out things and enjoy the game a lot.

I have to admit what a get "over angry" with you in this game, I spend at least 2 days to try to calm down. don't know why get soo angry but, well. I over reacted a little (but just a little! :p ).

the fact is what was great be partner with Thawmus as well, was surprising learn a few things of how he think in the game and give me the oprtunity or out my own thinking to him.

You may have been misdirected as I don't have any reason to believe I was invisible to cop powers.

Seriously, my power - when Stralkowski remembered to PM me with it :) - was that each night I was given a phrase and if I could get people to repeat it (ergo my sudden fascination with the word "shenanigans" or "Can't remember the name of that winged horse..") I could get a bit of tracking done on them. That was it.

Not quite; once we were "Uhura'd" and I explained my power to him - and we weren't sure why we could communicate (we were debating being I was an Ambassador, the fact that he had repeated it so many times had caused a trigger event because of his specific character) - he took to repeating it to try and key it off again.

The only thing else I can really say is that Truffle's role wasn't really balanced. I don't really like roles that shift alignments at the end of the game like that, without the player knowing in advance. She should have been trying to get Carlos killed early on, but since she thought she'd win with the townies, she spent the whole game helping us out instead.

I guess what I'm saying is....she should have won with us. I don't think it's fair that she was forced to switch sides at the end, after we eliminated all the other threats.

4. Worf (Jail Keeper/Miller): You’re a Klingon who was raised by humans. You joined the Federation and became Chief of Security on the Enterprise. You’re fiercely loyal, however people still suspect you since you’re a Klingon after all. You may choose a target each night. That player will be incarcerated in the local brig and will be protected from being killed that night, however their night ability will also be cancelled. Win Condition: You win when all threats to your faction have been eliminated. Alignment: Federation (Truffle Shuffle)

If you’re the last federation player standing, you may choose to switch your alignment to Klingon. If Kurn is lynched, you will become a Serial Killer.

There ya go.

So how do you think the newbies did?

(Truffle and me. There may have been more though.)

You guys did fine.

One point for both of you, however: You don't have to trust people, but it speaks volumes for the later game if you SAY you trust people. For example, you guys were suspecting me and Carlos for quite a while, which is fine. But you really shouldn't voice that as much unless you've run out of leads. If you breed too much paranoia, you make lynch votes harder to attain, and easier for the mafia to tamper with.

In some games, I've constantly backstopped people that I'm sure are mafia from the get-go, if for no other reason than to see them relax and start making mistakes, not to mention point out other mafia. If you were sure I was pulling everyone's leg, that would have been a good way to find out.

Outside of that, I honestly didn't have enough time to spend in this game as I'd like, so I can't comment further. Obviously you did well, considering you killed the last Klingon threat. :)

Oh, she had a CHOICE! Nevermind what I said earlier, then....

I didn't have a choice. I was recruited by the Klingons whether I wanted to be or not.

Frankly, I was all over the place. Yeah, I was paranoid, big time. Not sure of myself, b/c this was my first game. And my only reason for questioning you, Thawmus, was because Worf was a Klingon and may have been treating you with respect in the write up b/c we didn't have our memories and you might have been Klingon. But then Antipathy was lynched and that proved your Fediness to me.

It was hard going from Fed to Borg and then to Klingon. Leaving the old alliances behind. But I played for each team I was on the best I could. I have to say, I was happy to be off the Borg team, even if it meant being a Klingon. Sorry I didn't do better my fellow Klingons. I would have taken out FunnyS but I really thought he was going to go after JackA and I knew FFF was going to throw suspicion on me once you all saw there was still a Klingon around. So I chose to take out FFF. I was going to try to get the cat lynched :p and then go after FunnyS that night. Oh well.

By the way, who assimilated me and who assimilated TAK? TAK accused me of assimilating him, but I didn't. And I think he and I were the only borg at that time because we could talk to each other during any phase, but no one else.
