A twenty-eight on the front nine of the Tour Championship? Holy cow, that's just amazing...
Thoughts?

Thoughts?
Yes.
Why should anybody care about golf?

Boooo! HIssss!!!!
I for one think Tiger is an awesome gift to the world. As he put it, "not too many folks get to step to the plate against Roger Clemens. But anyone can stand over a golf ball, 136 yards out from the pin, and have the chance to hit a shot like I can."
Golf is an incredibly demanding sport mentally, and is physically draining.
And Tiger isn't human. I have proof.

His "father" even says so in that video. ;)
Tiger is to golf what Michael Jordan was to basketball, what A-Rod is to baseball. Few can understand how great of a performer and athlete Tiger is until you even attempt a shot he's made, much less 72 holes of incredible shots.

I can understand the physical part, but how is golf mentally demanding?
This is actually a follow-up question to another one that was inspired by a news report I read about Tiger Woods' latest win.
His main rival, whatever his name was, said something along the lines of: "I tried everything, but Tiger always had the right answer."
How exactly can you have an answer in golf?
Last time I checked you just hit a ball with a stick.
No doubt Tiger Woods is better at hitting a ball with a stick than I am, but I don't think that by doing that for an afternoon he should make more money than I will earn in my whole life.
Granted, that could be said about every professional athlete, but there are few sports where I find the discrepancy as painfully obvious as in golf.

Well, golf is all about knowledge of the course, your body, and the mathematics to figure out what club to use, do you want to hid a fade or a draw, do you want backspin to "plant" the ball on the green, knowing the layout of the green, is it fast or slow, do you want to hit a flop, a chip, etc.
Oh, and that's not even figuring out the weather. If its raining, windy, sunny, etc can all effect on what you have to do and what you have to consider.
That's is what makes it mentally demanding. You have to trust your body to execute what you've calculated as to what you need to do. That what the player was referring to as to having the right "answer."

Agreed.
In, say, football, if you are a, say, offensive linemen, your job is incredibly demanding. However, you really need only think about your assignment.
In golf, you have to think about the pin location, which club to use, where the wind is, your foloow-up shot, etc., etc.

And also have a plan coming in IF the shot doesn't work. A good golfer can lay out the entire hole in his head before even stepping into the tee box.

See, I think that golf is a physically and mentally demanding sport. However, I don't think that one golfer can have an answer for another golfer's game, except to hit the ball better. There's nothing that can be done to counter another golfer other than being more accurate and being better and knowing more about all of the things that Frontman mentioned.
For instance; in football, Pittsburgh just didn't have an answer for Tom Brady. However, Baltimore did. Is that because Baltimore threw the ball better than Pittsburgh did? They might have, but that's not what the answer was. The answer was pressure on Tom Brady. Same with the Eagles. Granted, the Eagles threw better than Tom Brady for most of the game, but that's now how they countered Tom. They countered Tom by blitzing and putting him on his back.
The answer for beating your opponent in golf? Hit the ball and know the course and your body better than them. Just be better.

Oh there's a total answer to blowing your opponent's game.
In match play:
"Hi, how you doing? This is my partner for today's round; Tiger Woods."
Tiger has the advantage because quite a few won't admit it, but they #### their shorts when he's playing that weekend, and they don't sleep Saturday night at all if he's in the lead/near the top of the field. The intimidation of Tiger is even, in my opinion, better than his actual game. The Legend of Tiger can cause even the best in the PGA to forget how to play the game.
