I read that not only is it being split up over seas(already was for the theatre release) but now the U.S. dvd has become dvds instead. What BS! I am not picking these up. I am glad I got to see it in its intended viewing at least once. What a way to ruin such a fun movie all because people didn't get it. Whats to get? two movies fo rthe price of one, read the dang poster, and sit through the "trailers" and watch the second. Grrr stupidity can really be inconvienient.
NetFlix actually sent out a warning e-mail that the single film 'Grindhouse' in my queue had been split into two separate films and replaced as such in my queue.

What are they going to do with the "coming attractions" that were planted in-between these films?
Also while the idea of sitting through two movies may have been too much for some, and scheduled all wrong for the theatres, it seems like a double-feature DVD would appeal to anyone. Trust them to screw this up too.
I liked both films but I think Planet Terror will be the more popular. Even though Death Proof is more accurately a grindhouse movie.
At least this way I can buy Planet Terror and ignore Death Proof. I'm rarely angry at the end of a movie, but Death Proof made me want to punch the person sitting in front of me.

Was that because they were making comments about the movie, or did you just hate Deathproof that much?
Didn't see 'em in the theater. I'm gonna try to rent both at the same time. Apparently, both are a little extended and I can only imagine what you saw on the big screen (plus more) will be present on at least one of the two discs.

It was just the movie. The folks in front of me were perfectly fine so I would have come across as a huge jerk. Also, Kurt Russel was about the only thing in the movie that I liked. I'll spare people with the spoilers though.

I find it a bit annoying, but I'm not all bent out of shape over it. I did have a bit of good luck the other day, though. My local Half-Price Books had a copy of Vanishing Point on DVD, and I've never seen it before. I plan to watch that before I pick up Deathproof, since it's influential on the story.

You know they're making Machette as a movie, right?

You mean you still can't buy a dual feature DVD and not be able to just ignore the second feature. Did the spice girls annoy you that much?

Yes. Yes they did. I regret paying for a double feature ever since I bought Troll 2 and got the addition of the excrement known as Troll 1. At least that movie had a killer musical number though.

Awesome, I didn't want Deathproof anyway
here is that movie in a nutshell
talking...talking...talking...bored...one girl gets killed...more talking....more talking...the 3 chicks get killed....bored...more talking...longest string of talking that i dont care about....bored some more...more talking...chase scene...stupid ending
Planet Terror rules though

Oddly I was far more interested in Deathproof - probably because of Kurt "He Should've Been Cast for Nick Fury" Russell than anything - than I was in "Planet Terror". The problem I have with trying to watch either now is that everyone says the whole experience - which was a big selling part of the film (I didn't get to the theater to see it) - has been ruined by the split.
Any confirmation on how badly the split is affecting "viewing pleasure"?

In the first place, the best way to watch grindhouse is on a big(movie theatre) screen. The transitions and preview transitions from the 70's made it more enjoyable, as well as the trailers. The overall experience of seeing two movies back to back for the price of one is what made it great. Overall the enitre theatre going experience was a 10/10. Had it been kep the same when put on dvd I would give it a 7or8(depending on size of tv screen)/10. The current plan of splitting it up, cutting out the trailers is a 5/10.

Heh, you can do this to anything.
Heroclix in a nutshell, toss dice and click dials, boring. Not!
Sad to see the trailers are missing on these. That is even worse than splitting the movie value in half. Despite my dislike for Eli Roth movies, Thanksgiving was easily the best one.

All i know, is that in the theater, the film would go scratchy, skip scenes, freeze, and burn off the screen, and stuff like that to give you the feeling of an old, carppy quality film. Which is really what the movies are supposed to be.

Actually, you're thinking of Planet Terror for most of that. There was a tiny bit of it in Death Proof, but very little compared to PT. I guess DP was supposed to be a relatively new release.

come on now, you just know that by Christmas, there will be a super delux version that has both movies, and all the trailers on a single disk.
I'm waiting for that one :D

There may be one eventually, but at the moment there's not even been a hint at one. Amazon lists items months before they become available, and they've got nothing. I don't think that it was successful enough to bother doing a deluxe box set. They may market the two individual, two-disk versions together, shrink-wrapped as a two-pack, but that's really not the same thing.

So the trailers aren't on the DVD's? Pity, they sounded like half of the fun of the movie (that and the theater experience as, Lord help me, I actually remember movie experiences from the end of that era. :ermm: )

I went and took a look on youtube, since I missed seeing Grindhouse in the movie theatre. The trailers are pretty darned cool/funny. Thanksgiving and Machete are by far the best. If Machete is being made, I'll try to go see it. Nothing like seeing Danny Trejo go to town with some blades - not to mention that seeing Cheech as his padre sidekick was just too cool for words. I think I need a nice, warm Chango beer now! :p

Ah, I loved Rob Zombie's "Werewolf Women of the SS" if only for the Nick Cage cameo. As much as I dislike Nick Cage, its f'n priceless.
And the Don't trailer by the Shaun of the Dead guys...
Really all of the trailers were classic. Its a shame those movies won't be available as viewed in the theaters. Even if they just had both the "junky" versions from the theaters and the uncut versions I think I'd be happy, but especially with Planet Terror, the missing scenes were used well to make light of the experience.
Sadly, thats not the case and I won't purchase those movies until then. Thankfully, knowing the dvd market that will likely be sometime next year.
Too bad. I skipped the - splitted - theatre release over here, reconning I'd see them as intended when the DVD came out.
Then again, I think there'sgood odds that a special edition DVD of the two together, plus trailers, plus cut scenes, etcetera will be out in due time.

Honestly its things like this that cause people to buy Pirated movies!
People want to see the movie as it was intended not how a bunch of executives think it will make more money.
Then these so called execs sit there scratching their heads wondering why there are pirated versions of their movies out there......... OOk
But those executives also know that three movies make more money than two. There'll be a directors' cut at some point.
Then again, the original version of Kill Bill also has failed to materrialise...
