OK it's a week late, but after week 1......ugh!

But now that they did a complete 180 they get a thread.

It's one game.

But after the first week I don't think anyone thought they would win a game all season. They were so pitiful that first game. I think Romeo should get the Coach of the Year for this turnaround. And this is Cleveland. We don't get much to cheer about sportwise.

BudPalmer

One game does not a turn around make. If they continue their success I could see where you are coming from but to say that the coach of a 1-1 team deserves coach of the year, is MAJORLY premature at this point.

Wait, what? I hope you're joking, because it's the 2nd week of the season. You can, in no way, give him the Coach of the Year after 1 really good game especially since it's just one good game.

I am just flabbergasted by what happened. The Browns are THE team in Cleveland. And after the fiasco of week one there was a numbing "here-we-go-again" fog over the city. The fact that they got rid of the starting QB and not only won the game but put up close to record setting numbers is a huge deal here. So yeah I was somewhat sarcastic but we're on a high right now sportswise (the Tribe ain't doing half bad either).

My jaw dropped at the Browns game. I could not believe they scored over 10 points, let alone 51.

I've always kinda rooted for the Browns to do well, and I'm quite peeved that the Ravens won a Super Bowl before the Browns did. Art Modell should lose forever.

This is going to sound a bit....well, here it goes anyways:

Cleveland and Cincinatti have had this going on for a while now. Every time they play each other, both teams put up very high numbers on the scoreboard.

IIRC, they still hold the record for the highest scoring game ever.

So I'm just not that impressed with them yet.

I'm very interested to see where Anderson goes from here, though. I was very impressed with him toward the end of last season. He's got the right physical build for a great QB.

A few years back they scored 106, which is second. The highest scoring game was 113 points. I think the Giants beat the Redskins 72-41.

I'm a Saint's fan #1 but the Browns are my #2. I got to see them play KC during the preseason and then the aftershocks of KC losing that game on the "Hard Knocks" on HBO. The people of Cleveland are really really nice. I had a good time cheering them on.

I absolutely could not believe it when they scored 51 points in that game!!

Holy Smokes. I'd have loved to have seen that game. (anybody know where a person *might* see it on the Internet?....:))

P.S. Yeah I likes me some underdogs. Go Browns.

I'm pretty sure that was awarded to the Patriots.

I would heavily disagree with anyone that awarded the #1 defense to anyone other than Baltimore.

That team literally has no offense, and their defense is on the field for what usually amounts to the entire game, and they still limit most opponents to a single touchdown or field goal.

Most other teams only play good defense if they run the ball a lot and have a high ToP.

New England would not be an exception to that.

Regardless, it is extremely surprising to see the Browns dismantle them like that. I'm looking forward to their game against New England.

No sarcasm. :)

I'm quite impressed with the Browns this year. They definitely are going to have something to build on for next year. Between Jamal Lewis and Derek Anderson, they could spend time on improving their O-line, and defense, and be VERY competitive this year.

And I still say they might make it to the wildcards. With Tennessee suddenly without their #1 pick QB, and the other divisions having either a blowout, or a 3-3 battle, the Browns' biggest challenge is defeating Baltimore. And they're already 1-0 in that department. And convincingly so.

Anderson and the Browns have me hungering for the rematch against pittspuke. We are very much a different team now.

After watching Cleveland (sometimes) score a single touchdown a game last year, this year's offense has been so-oooo much fun to watch. It kinda makes me think of watching back in the day with Bernie, Web-star, Brennan, Langhorn, Newsome, Byner & Mack! :knockedou

Enjoy your rest this week guys; let's get Jamal Lewis back healthy and string a few wins together!

While I'll be among the first to say that Cleveland could very well be looking at a playoff spot this year, make no mistake, they're not a Super Bowl contender.

They're still lacking a lot of game rhythm, and they make a LOT of mistakes. Anderson is a fantastic QB, but he's averaging 2-3 picks a game. That will KILL YOU against a team like Pittsburgh, Indianapolis, or New England.

I think they need to take this as a building year, and I think they are. They could be ridiculous next year at this pace.

Hey, if the Browns can offer my boys some actual divisional competition this year, I'm all for it. :)

In any case, I'd really like to see Cleveland and Oakland as wildcards this year. I think if they both get their acts together, they could be very entertaining in the playoffs.

This is a belated congrats to the Browns. I think they've shown the league now that they're more than capable of taking down the big boys, if they need to. They had the Steelers, and they let them get away, but the experts aren't talking about that. Matter of fact, the Browns' ranking has skyrocketed since Sunday, because of how scary they were in that game.
As a Steelers fan, I was glad we won, but I was also glad the Browns got to show the world what they're made of.

I still predict that the Browns are going to be one of the top teams in the AFC when this is all over.

How good is Buffalo? I haven't seen them all season. Alot of people think that if we beat them we have a very good shot at the playoffs.

They're streaky. As a team. They were among the worst at the beginning of the season, and then someone peed in their cheerios during MNF against Dallas, and they almost beat them. After that game, they had a nice long winning streak. What's awesome is that there isn't anything that you can specifically point to as being the successful part of the team. They just play well as a team if someone pisses them off.

As far as matching up with Cleveland is concerned....well....that's really iffy. This'll be the best game all weekend, and I hope I get to watch it, actually. Cleveland definitely has the worst defense in the league, but they have the 4th highest scoring offense in the league, and they have a knack for outscoring their opponents. Buffalo's offense is terrible, which should offset that a little bit. "Experts" will likely be talking about how the Cleveland defense has "Stepped up" when Trent Edwards throws a pass directly to a linebacker. In any case, Buffalo's defense, while pretty good, is very vulnerable to excellent offenses. Case and point: Their games against New England. They'll get stomped by Anderson, if the Browns take them seriously. Which I think they will. A nice thing about being a cheap team like the Browns is that you take every game and every team seriously. :)

I see the Browns winning it, but it'll be a tough first half of football.

spiderman9797
12/14/2007, 20:20
One thing that you can say is a strong point of Buffalo is Marshawn Lynch. That guy is going to be a premier running back, and is a threat inside with his power and outside with his speed.

Also, Lee Evans is doing his usual late-season comeback, where he re-emerges as one of the top receivers in the league. Like every year in November/December.

NeoShazam
12/14/2007, 21:42
Buffalo has good special teams and a good defense. Their offense is kinda wack-jack and that's where there problems are.

Lynch is a good running back and Losman could throw 87 yard bombs to Lee Evans this year and last but him and Edwards kept getting roughed up ( cold hard artificial turf ) so they've had that disadvantage to contend with.

Should've beaten the Cowboys as well :(

Anderson has gotten cocky/stupid you pick. Edwards is regressing... he dropped way to many passes already and seems to have a chip on his shoulder. I think it may have to do with the added pressure of moving up to elite status and the defenses working on him more. I would hate to have a TO on our hands :(. Crummyel needs to go :)

DA's good as gone. He couldn't even connect with Lewis with a dump pass out of the backfield. Romeo's gone as well. There was no reason to keep DA in there after the first half. What he was 3/17 for 20 yards? True he started to come around at the end of the game but too little too late. I just wish I knew what happened. Edwards can't catch. Anderson had quite a few batted at the line. Play calling is pathetic. Time management the same. At least we'll get a good draft pick out of it.

I hope Browns fans are happy. You're getting what you asked for.

But frankly, I couldn't agree with this man any more.

Trent Dilfer, on ESPN:

"Public opinion has made this decision for the Cleveland Browns," Dilfer said on ESPN. "The owner makes knee-jerk reactions to fill seats. I have spoken to coaches who say this is not Derek Anderson’s fault. This is a function of the defense not being able to get off the football field. Braylon Edwards, a superstar receiver, has 14 dropped passes at least. It’s about their playmakers, Kellen Winslow, not being there, not being dependable. It’s about people not being at their best, and Derek Anderson burdening the responsibility for this.

"This is an organization I played for for a year, and I saw very closely the organization is highly dysfunctional and cannot make decisions that are good for the long-term goals of the organization. Cleveland fans are frustrated. They want a winner. They want a consistent winner. Well, these types of decisions are exactly why they’re not a winner now and they won’t be a winner in the future."

Sorry Browns. I'm a Steelers fan, but I've been rooting for you since last season, seeing you become something more than a bottom-feeder. But this decision sticks in my craw, and I'm ready to go back to wanting you to lose every game for the rest of the season. How the hell did they beat the Giants?

Well, in my opinion?

They showed up to play.

Nobody is doubting that they have talent. The Browns have a lot of talent on their team. But one of the big fears going into this season was that too many players got paid, got big contracts, etc., and that this would mean they'd stop playing.

And I think those fears have been justified. I don't think Edwards gives one damn about his lack of performance. And we all know Winslow is...yeah (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3X60mrYO1UU)...

The only two people I think really care about this football team is Jamal Lewis, and Derek Anderson. And Jamal's a psycho.

Could the Browns have been the best this year? Still not a doubt in my mind, YES.

But they don't want to win. So they're losing. That's a coaching problem, and a managing problem. Saying that it's DA's fault is being just plain ignorant.

At least you guys aren't Bengals fans...

Wed Nov 12, 2008 3:36 pm EST
Bengals' fans blast management with billboard campaign

A group of frustrated and angry Bengals fans have purchased space on four billboards in the greater Cincinnati area blasting team management for the lousy state of the franchise.

The billboards read: 'Dear Bengals, hire a general manager. Love, your fans.''

The message is clearly directed at owner Mike Brown. According to the website whodeyrevolution.com fans have had enough of 18 seasons of Mike Brown making football decisions. The team, which does not have a GM, has a record of 98-183, the worst winning percentage of all professional sports teams over that stretch. Einstein's famous quote 'Insanity: doing the same thing over and over again and

Organizers of the billboard campaign are asking fans to contribute money 'to make sure these billboards can stay up for the rest of the season and into the once again Bengal-free post-season.'' ,

Organizers are asking fans to donate $18 each — or $1 for each year of Mike Brown's ownership of the team.

The website noted: 'Just think how much of your money Mike Brown has buried in a tin can in his backyard (he doesn't trust those new fancy 'banks').''

The site notes that 'Project Mayhem has two goals:

1. Disrupt the natural order of Mike Brown's Bengals
2. Reduce Mike Brown's profit.

I don't think Dilfer gets it. Most of us realize that this breakdown is not completely Anderson's fault. Edwards and Winslow have really been disappointing. Stallworth was hurt. Juravisus is out for the season. Most importantly, IMO, is the fact that Ryan Tucker hasn't played every game. However Anderson's play has really taken a turn for the worst. He had a concussion and I don't think he's been the same since. He was overthrowing the running back coming out of the backfield four yards away.

So now here we have Quinn sitting on the bench. He wasn't drafted to be a back-up QB. If DA can't handle it why not put Quinn in? Granted we're really pulling for him. He's a local guy. And the fact that we were able to draft him so late in the first round the way we did seems kind of like destiny. To us he's the next Kosar and/or LeBron. And it's only been two games but I really think he's done a better job than DA was.

As far as the front office and the organization as a whole...I think everyone in Brownstown would agree with you. They aren't really in the thick of things. We never hear from the owner. I don't think he could care less. There seems to be more emphasis on protecting the image of the front office rather than winning games.
