What’s up Wednesday – 9/19: Pirates, Angels and the Last Man
Recapping the week in geek.
All the hot Pop Culture news we scoured from around the web, so you don’t have to.
This is a new ongoing article series for the PopRealms section that will be going up every Wednesday.
If you have a scoop or an interesting story you think should be in ‘What’s up Wednesday’, please PM it to me!
This Wednesday: Pirates, Angel Season 6, Y-The last man
ARRRRR! Today is talk like a pirate day, y’mates!

Buffy Season 8 is doing pretty well on the comic stands.
So it stands to reason that Angel would get his own continuation too.
Here’s a 5 page preview (http://www.aintitcool.com/node/34064) of the comic.
I personally thought Angel’s final season was stronger than Buffy’s, so I’m interested to see where they go with this.
:knockedou :)  :surprised  :devious:  :classic:  :squareeye  :tired:  :p
Anniversary of the emoticon! (http://www.usatoday.com/tech/news/2007-09-18-smiley-emoticon-anniversary_N.ht)
:) Turns 25! (at 30 he’s going to need some facial work, and maybe a bit of collagen for his smile.)
Shai LaBeouf is the go-to kid for everything from Indy’s kid to Optimus’ pal. Now he’s rumored to play Yorick (http://www.mtv.com/movies/news/articles/1567696/20070823/story.jhtml) in Y-The last man? I’d just love to be the casting agent for that movie. Just an endless string of chicks!
Also speaking of Indy, Sean Connery (http://www.scifi.com/scifiwire/index.php?category=0&id=44195) won’t be reprising his role as Indy’s dad in part 4. :(
It’s a little early for Halloween stuff, but this list of the Top 20 Zombie Films (http://retrocrush.buzznet.com/halloween/top20zombiemovies/) is pretty comprehensive, and contains YouTube clips of ever film!
Discussion topic of the week:
Surprisingly, Shoot ‘Em Up is getting pretty good reviews. ( http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/shoot_em_up/?critic=columns) Considering it’s an intentionally over the top action movie, played straight.
What movies for you have been completely over the top, ridiculous to the point of pulling you out of the film?
For me it was Speed. Beyond the premise of the movie, the point where he jumps the bus across an open expanse of highway bridge was the point where I said to myself “good grief, physics be damned.”
