View Full Version : Mutant Massacre Mafia game thread
First of all, here are a quick summary of important rules, shamelessly stolen from Jacin's Arkham game :)
Things to remember:
1) A full writeup of the rules can be found here: http://www.mafiascum.net/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page. This game will be more complicated than what's described there, as nearly everyone has some sort of 'special thing' about them. Doesn't mean everyone has a night power, but you never know...
2) When you vote, please do so by saying Vote: [Player] in bold. If you wish to change your vote, please say Change Vote: [Player] instead. Voting for 'Nobody' is a valid vote; if a majority votes for 'nobody' then nobody will be lynched and we'll move on to the Night phase.
3) If your role says you -may- PM me a target, you don't have to do anything at night. Even so, it'll speed things along quite a bit if you'd still just send me a PM saying "Not using my [whatever] power tonight, thanks."
4) If your role says you -must- PM me a target, and you do not? I'll pick one randomly. Or, perhaps, not-so-randomly. Don't blame me if you target someone who kills you.
5) You may NOT send a PM to anyone about this game unless your role explicitly says you can. This is cheating.
6) Do NOT edit your posts in this thread. This is cheating.
7) Please do not copy-and-paste anything from any PM I send you to the thread. This is also cheating.
8) Please do not post in this thread after you are killed. This, too, is cheating and can ruin the game if done wrong.
9) Cheaters don't get to play in any other Mafia games I run. Period.
10) Remember, it's just a game. You will get paranoid, you will be stabbed in the back by someone, you will see somebody do or say something stupid and want to smack them. Just breathe deep and relax. If things get out of hand, we do have a mod playing who will forcibly remind you to chill out if needed. It hasn't happened yet, and I'd like to keep it that way.
11) Quoth Tuttle: EXPECT ANYTHING!!!
Currently, we have 26 players participating in the game (still room for more, as we haven't officially started yet, so throw me a PM if you want in!).
The surviving players are: Doombot 3.1, biz567, KitsuShel, DarkCorsair, theanalogkid, Carlos Mucha, Antipathy, Rokk_Krinn, Stepper79, charlesx

You don't have my name in the player list.
Which, is okay by me, since it'll let me live longer, but in all fairness, I should probably be added. ;)
Ah, I see the problem, I accidently had bamf! twice instead of you. I'll fix it immediately. Also, in another last minute addition to the game, Stepper79 will be joining us! :)

I say Thawmus, JackA, Carlos, Shel, JoH and I should just lynch each other right now...this way we don't feel so bad when we're picked off early in the game. :cheeky:

Hey, am I too late to play? I just PM'ed Melkhor, hoping to get a seat on the ride!!
Yep, here's another last minute addition as Charlesx joins the game, taking us up to a total of 27 players

Sounds reasonable to me. :cheeky:
The camera pans out in a wide-angled shot of the majestic Blue Area of the Moon. Within a spectacular spherical structure, a giant creature in white robes stare intently at infinity.
Without turning he speaks, adressing his invisible audience with a voice that is felt rather than heard.
"Welcome to my home. I am Uatu the Watcher. I observe this reality and chronicle all that happens within, bound by my oaths never to interfere, but there are other realities beyond this. An infinite myriad of alternate worlds where things happened differently. Now watch with me as I seek an answer to one of many questions I have pondered through the ages. Watch with me as we learn the answer to this question:
What if, the Mutant Massacre had been a Mafia game?
The camera is swallowed by a swirling vortex within the infinity of realities and everything blacks out for what could have been a second, or a year...
Gradually, vision returns as the camera tracks a desperate young woman fleeing down a damp and dark tunnel.
"I made it... I'm home. Whoever those murderers are, they'll never find me here. Only a Morlock could find the way through these tunnels to the Alley!"
Allowing herself to breathe again at last, the young woman hurries towards the Alley, hoping to find her friends and fellow Morlocks there, along with a safety she never should have left...
*meanwhile, elsewhere*
"Nooooo!" The young woman known as Elizabeth Braddock snaps out of her telepathic trance with a scream. "So much pain, so much evil... so much death!" She mutters, trying to overcome the overwhelming psychic premonition of death she sensed. She turns to the assembled X-men around her, her voice trembling with fear and strain. "The Morlocks! Someone have found their way into their tunnels, we have to stop them or they'll kill them all!"
Looking around at his team-mates, the temporary leader of the X-men pops his claws with a familiar *snikt* sound. "You heard the lady, let's go!"
"Wait!" Betsy yells after the X-men, "I can't be the only one who picked this up, there's bound to be other heroes down there with you, so be careful, we don't know what we're dealing with it!"
*Back in the Tunnels under New York*
The young girl finally hears the sound of voices and spots a light up a head. She made it, she's finally safe once again. As she runs towards the light, she hears another sound, faint but all too familiar to hear ears. The sound of a round being chambered!
In blind panic, she runs for the door and just barely reach it as the roar of gun-fire echoes through the tunnel. Carried by her own momentum, the young girl is thrown through the flimsy door, collapsing into a bleeding pile at the feet of the assembled Morlocks.
"Killers...followed...me...I'm...sorr...." The light in her eyes die and she speaks no more.
The assembled Morlocks spring to their feet as total panic erupts. Reports from various sentries say that several groups of unknown individuals have entered the sewers, and a pack of unknown, remorseless killers are loose in the dark tunnels!
The murderers could be anyone, maybe even masking as other Morlocks. There's no-one to trust, and nothing is certain except for one thing. Death is loose in the Alley, and the sewers will run red with blood...
Melkhor is dead, he was Tommy, little Morlock lost who should never have left the sewers!
Day 1 has officially started and will last for 24 hours or until a majority has been reached. With 27 players, 14 votes are required.

That's 13 votes for No Lynch now by my count. 1 more and the day will end without bloodshed...
And there it is, a majority of 14 votes (theanalogkid, CarlosMucha, Shadow40, Doombot 3.1, Charlesx, Curbludgeon, Thawmus, scehaono, zakiszak, RCricket55, biz567, bamf!, St-Dumas, TMNT99) for No Lynch has been reached.
Though shaken by the murder in their midst, cooler heads among the Morlocks prevailed, for now. Knowing that every nook and cranny could hold a murderer, the outcast mutants carefully prepared to hunker down for the night, hoping against hope that someone would come to their rescue before they'd all suffer Tommy's fate.
Day 1 will officially end in exactly 1 hour from now. I'll leave this thread open until then for people to chat and discuss if they so please.
Night 1 will start when Day 1 ends (in one hour) and will last either 24 hours, or until everyone with night powers have PM'ed me their targets. Remember if your power is optional and you're not going to use it, send me a PM anyways and let me know that.
And may God have mercy on your all...

So we have Morlocks, X-Men, Marauders...I wonder if X-Factor is separate from X-Men (and how the Morlocks view them) as I would guess they're here. Considering Melk's eagerness to add in roles, New Mutants is a fair guess and maybe even Thor (Indy) and Power Pack.
Oddly, Magneto should actually be Good aligned for this game, though I could see Thor, X-factor, the Pack, etc. possibly see him as otherwise.

I speculate the same things.
Lets say Cyclops is a cop. It wouldn't surprise me if Magneto came up evil, despite being a good aligned X-Man.

Conversely, Cyke - as X-Factor was still thought of as mutant-hunting scum at this stage - might show as Evil to Morlocks and possibly New Mutants and X-Men.
I'm thinking this game, we need to take Cops with a grain-of-salt (no, I'm not being pre-emptive...just saying if it seems like I'm giving people more benefit of the doubt than usual this game, you know why).

I would guess Gambit is Neutral or will show as Evil as he's the one that led the Marauders to the Morlocks. He's definitely not on the side of Good this time out.

Night 1: Write-up
Darkness had fallen, both on the surface world, and in the lightless depths the Morlocks called home. But this night was nothing like any other. Tonight, fear and terror ruled the Alley and some of those who sheltered there would not live to see the next day...
****
Somewhere in the tunnels, a man dressed in tattered rags put his flute to his lips, and an eirie tune echoed through the Alley. The Darkness had a thousand eyes and ears, and tonight, they all obeyed him!
Scurrying through tiny crack and bolt-holes, curious eyes watched a woman sitting cross-legged on the floor. Appearing lost in concentration, she breathed in smoke from a hookah-like device and exhaled a large cloud of sweetly smelling smoke, drifting down the tunnels.
The rats returned to report their findings to their master, not noticing a darker shadow that followed them back as well...
*****
The man knew why he had come, he knew he had but one purpose in this dark place, in this dark hour. Striding through the muck and sewage he beckoned the door before him to open and strode in. A decrepit old woman looked up on him with suprise on her face- "You shouldn't be here son" She mumbled, "You've made a bad mistake!"
The man looked puzzled at her words, but stepped towards her and placed a hand on her shoulder. "Do not fear, I'm here to save you. No-one will have to die tonight, I'll save you all!"
As he spoke, his eyes began to glow with barely contained power, and the outline of the old woman started to blur and fade. "You're wrong there sonny" The old crone replied, sorrow evident in her voice. "And saving me is mighty fine and all, but who's going to save you?" Those were her last words before she faded away completely, leaving nothing but a few scraps of flithy rags behind. The man, now even more perplexed suddenly gasped for air and fell to his knees, desperately trying to breathe through burning lungs and a closing throat. Sweat ran down his face in rivers and blood started to pour from his eyes and nostrils. "But...I...wanted...to...save....you..." He managed to gasp, in his last seconds of excruciating pain, before death finally released him!
****
The woman walked carefully through the tunnel, alert for any and all danger. She hadn't come this far, and survived this long on luck alone. She was a fighter and a survivor, and she knew it. And when she found who she had come for, well then they would know it too!
Suddenly she heard a noise up ahead. Slowly, she removed one of her gloves and spun around the corner, coming face to face with a young, green-skinned child. He smiled and looked up at her, cocking his head in suprise while reaching for her hand.
The woman recoiled in reflex, but not quite fast enough. His long, green fingertips brushed against hers, and nothing happened! Totally stunned, and more than a little shocked, she turned around and fled back the way she came before the boy could utter another word. He shrugged and turned back as well, walking back to where he hoped his friends would be.
****
Oblivious to all this, another old woman, wrapped in baggy coats and blankets huddled for warmth in her corner. "I must protect them she thought. "I won't loose my children again!" Focusing every bit of her concentration on her mutant powers, she never noticed the glint of feral eyes in the darkness above her, watching her intently...
****
The room where Tommy had fallen lay abandoned. In their hurried panic, everyone had bolted for the side tunnels and secure holes in the Alley, and no-one had even considered bringing Tommy's body with them. It suited the man who emerged from hiding just fine. He so hated to be disturbed in his work...
****
Near the entrance to the tunnels, a man and a woman walked together, both strangers to this dark place. As they turned a corner, they found suddenly found themselves swallowed up by a cloud of sweetly smelling fog. "Careful this could be some sort of trap to keep strangers out!" The man yelled. "Don't worry, it'll take more than this to stop us!" the woman replied and they both continued through the clouds, seemingly unaffected.
****
Another man walked through the tunnels alone, the grim business at hand weighing heavily on his soul. He'd made a mistake, a mistake unlike any others he'd made through a life of poor choices. He'd dealt himself into the wrong game, and now he had no choice put to play it through to the end, unless....
His keen eyes easily penetrating the darkness, he spied into the room where he knew he would find his target sleeping and, despite himself, breathed a huge sigh of relief. The room was empty. She wasn't there! For a second he allowed himself to think that she had been wise enough to flee, and that he could return reporting that she was gone, but he knew he had to be more thorough than that. Her tracks where easily visible in the filth, even to one without his talents, so feeling like a rat trapped in a maze with no exit, he followed.
He did not have to go far. About 30 yards down the tunnel he found her, lying in a broken heap at the bottom of a pit she must have missed in the darkness. A cursory inspection told him that her neck had been broken from the fall, and his heart rose in his chest again. She was already dead, he could return and report the deed done, and maybe, just maybe redemption wasn't quite out of reach for him yet...
****
Another man who was no stranger to death and violence stalked the tunnels as well, just itching for a good fight. He moved with the practiced ease of one who's truly at home in the darkness amongst the shadows, which, to his keen sense, where as clear as the brightest day. He saw movement up ahead in one of the side tunnels, someone moving by faster than his eyes could track him, but not faster than his nose! "Huh, I know that scent!" He muttered to himself, "But what the HELL are you doing down here bub?"
The man had moved past so fast that he never had a chance to notice he had been watched. He too, knew he had made mistakes, and deep in his heart, he knew he had to atone for them. This was his purgatory, and though he knew that he would most likely die here, beneath the earth, he steeled himself to meet his fate head-on.
Perhaps he should instead have kept his eyes on what was infront of him. "GOTCHA!" A cruel voice rang out as figure jumped out of the darkness and latched on to him before he could react. Every synapse in his brain backfired at once and liquid fire filled his veins as his entire system short-circuited. He fell to the floor with a wet thud, barely noticing his attacker fleeing down a dark corridor out of the corner of his eyes. Then he noticed something else. He lay surrounded by a cloud of soft, white feathers! Though still in tremendous agony he managed to reach a hand back over his shoulder, and what he found broke what little remained of his world to pieces. The once proud hero curled up in a ball on the ground, surrounded by an ever-growing pile of feathers, hoping for a merciful end to come quickly.
Instead, something else did! "It is not your fate to die here mutant!" A booming voice rang out. "Your true destiny was written in the stars long ago. Rise, take my hand and embrace your fate! Cast aside your broken life and prepare for your rebirth!"
A blinding light swallowed them both, and when the old man who had heard the screams and had come running to help arrived, he found nothing there, except the pile of white, angelic feathers covered in filth and muck...
****
Kontrol has vanished without a trace and has been removed from the game. He was Plague, (alignment: good, team; Morlocks) Morlock Bio-hazard who went to a better place.
Shadow40 is dead. He was Mikhail Rasputin, (alignment: neutral, team: None) self-proclaimed Morlock Messiah who learned the hard way that
no good deed goes unpunished!
The corpse of Allison Blair, the Dazzler is found at the bottom of a pit, her neck broken from the fall. Oddly enough, she seems to have been played by no-one...
The corpse of Tommy has been horribly mutilated and sliced apart in the most hideous fashion!
And finally, one of you seems to be missing...
Day 2 has officially begun, and with 24 players currently present and able to vote, 13 votes is a majority.

I'm actually a little surprised at "mixed allegiances" among the Morlocks. :surprised
Makes me wonder how many "alignment triggers" there are in the game.

Oops, sorry about the potential confusion there. Mikhail's self-proclaimed title as "Morlock Messiah" does not mean he belonged to the Morlock team. Mikhail Rasputin had no team, and was not a Morlock. He just wanted to save them ;)
Night 1: Write-up
Darkness had fallen, both on the surface world, and in the lightless depths the Morlocks called home.
The rats returned to report their findings to their master, not noticing a darker shadow that followed back as well...
Sounds like we have a tracker that found a roleblocker of some sort. And the tracker was traced back by someone. Any thoughts on this?
*****
The man knew why he had come, he knew he had put one purpose in this dark place, in this dark hour.
Not sure what character would have pulled this off. Sounds like this is where Mikhail died. C-Los ain't gonna be happy...
I don't remember the name of the Morlock kid that nullifies powers, but he ran into Rogue. I think that's fairly obvious.
****
Is this the other half of the first bit?
The room where Tommy had fallen lay abandoned. In their hurried panic, everyone had bolted for the side tunnels and secure holes in the Alley, and no-one had even considered bringing Tommy's body with them. It suited the man who emerged from hiding just fine. He so hated to be disturbed in his work...
Forensics cop. Not sure if he's mafia or not. Probably not.
We've got a co-ed mafia. :noid:
Another tracker.
Angel lost his wings, and.....well I hope Apoc isn't around, but that's the obvious conclusion at this point.

Kontrol has vanished without a trace and has been removed from the game. He was Plague, (alignment: good) Morlock Bio-hazard who went to a better place.
Shadow40 is dead. He was Mikhail Rasputin, (alignment: neutral) self-proclaimed Morlock Messiah who learned the hard way that
no good deed goes unpunished!

Well at least Mikhail is gone.
I'd have rather taken out a Marauder, but who knows what kind of havok a neutral guy who can alter reality would have caused.
Slash maybe not. Mikhail either thought he was a doctor or was a doctor.
Either way, it looks like Plague had a "touch me you die" power.
Now that I think of it, the woman who gave out the sweetly smelling smoke affected mafia.

The kid who affects powers is Scrambler (Korean and thus requested by scehaono though I would laugh if he got his choice :) ).
Co-Ed Mafia makes sense as the Marauders weren't sexist (though Arclight is pretty manly. :noid: )

We've got a co-ed mafia.
Well, obviously, since the maradurs contain both male and female.
Could be X-Factor or X-Men too, but I'm willing to bet mafia, since they seem intent on not being kept out.
Another tracker.
I don't think so. Somebody being dealt the wrong hand and going to kill Dazzler only to find her already dead? That looks like Gambit to me. Looks like he's mafia, but with all the talk of redemption, maybe he'll turn good under certain conditions, similar to Harley turning inmate or Two-Face turning GK in the Arkham game.

The funny thing is that I thought Dazz joined up with the X-Men after the Massacre (because of the loss in ranks the team suffered)...so what's she doing here?

First mafia game, so let me know if I cross any gameplay lines here. So how closely do these games hew to the original storylines? I'm not very familiar with the Mutant Massacre, but I'm hearing Angel's name being mentioned, and a guy who sounds a lot like Wolvie talking in the writeup. Can I assume they're likely to be "good" characters? And how are they likely to interact with Morlocks? Separate win conditions or the same?

Probably same win conditions - defeat the Marauders - but in the case of, say, Angel, we were kicking around the possibility of X-Factor members (as the Original Five were X-Factor at this point) being viewed as Evil by certain groups (they were disguising themselves as mutant hunters and hadn't been interacting with the regular X-Men out of disgust for Magneto being in charge of the school). Similarly we suspect Magneto would show as Evil to certain individuals like Thor and X-Factor.

Here's my take at a summary, building off Thawmus's analysis. Sorry for not quoting Melk as well. Just got to be too long.
Sounds like we have a tracker that found a roleblocker of some sort. And the tracker was traced back by someone. Any thoughts on this?
So...
Flute guy = tracker of unknown alignment?
Smoke woman = role blocker of unknown alignment?
Darker shadow = another tracker of unknown alignment? Can I assume "darker" implies evil?
Not sure what character would have pulled this off. Sounds like this is where Mikhail died. C-Los ain't gonna be happy...
Mikhail = some kind of now deceased protector (is this the same as role blocker?)
Old woman = unknown?
Can't tell what killed him. Old woman or outside force?
I don't remember the name of the Morlock kid that nullifies powers, but he ran into Rogue. I think that's fairly obvious.
Rogue = unknown of good alignment?
Leech = Morlock of good alignment?
Is this the other half of the first bit?
Old woman #2 = role blocker of good alignment?
Feral eyes = tracker of unknown alignment?
Forensics cop. Not sure if he's mafia or not. Probably not.
man with Tommy = I dunno, but if her body's mutilated, that doesn't sound good.
We've got a co-ed mafia. :noid:
man = outsiders. Likely mafia?
woman = ditto.
Another tracker.
man = would this be a tracker or a guy who wanted to kill Alison, but was beaten to the punch at it?
"She was already dead, he could return and report the deed done..."
Angel lost his wings, and.....well I hope Apoc isn't around, but that's the obvious conclusion at this point.
Sounds like Wolvie got attacked to me. Almost died but was saved by an unknown party/role blocker? Perhaps someone comes back a townie without remembering anything?
"Though still in tremendous agony he managed to reach a hand back over his shoulder, and what he found broke what little remained of his world to pieces."
Also, the old man witness = unknown.

Usually, they follow roughly the same line of reasoning. Wolverine is good in the comics, he'll be good here, etc.
Melkhor is seemingly a big fan of the marauders (its his fantasy league team) and the mutant masscre storyline as a whole. I doubt he'll take the same kind of...liberties that ABF took with the Harry Potter game.
That being said, since we control the storyline, Riptide probably isn't going to critically injure Colossus only to have his neck broken. Colossus might never even encounter Riptide. He might be killed by Scalphunter and Riptide end up being killed by a lynch mob of morlocks.
Random thoughts:
Also, it looks like Annalee is after Powerpack, but was followed by someone with "feral eyes," probably Sabertooth.
Apocalypse might have something to do with one of us being missing.
Wolverine was also gone when the old man showed up.
Why was Dazzler not played by anybody? That seems so...weird.

Regarding other characters...
I wouldn't be surprised if Annalee was a protector of some sort, looking over the Power Pack kids would even be logical as she was a guardian of children.
The man with pipes is likely, well, Piper who controls the sewer animals. If it was a single "pipe" I would say Blowhard.
The only old man that I can currently think of is Healer of the Morlocks.

Hmm...if it was Scrambler that hit Angel would he have had a piece of his life shattered (i.e. - permanently losing his wings) as Scrambler's powers were temporary. Angel might have lost the ability to fly - perhaps even his feathers - but I doubt he'd have had his wings shorn clean off and been left devestated.
Not saying you aren't right about things...just that it seems like Scrambler may be a bit "jacked up" in the game or something else is going on here that we don't know of yet.

The assembled Morlocks looked with suspicion upon the stranger who claimed he could lead the to one of the murderers. Would it be wise to trust the word of an outsider so readily, why would he be helping them, and how could he know of the killers in the first place?
****
Elsewhere, a pale man looked at his monitors, a thin smile crossing his marble-like features. "Oh dear, did you really think it would be that easy?" He chuckled to himself.
"How is it the old saying goes again?" he mused to no-one in particular. "In for a penny, in for a pound!" His inhuman face showed no trace of emotion as he reached a gloved hand across the panel infront of him and pressed a button.
Back in the Alley, the man the Morlocks had gathered around suddenly screamed and fell to his knees, clutching his head in his hands. Pure horror filled his eyes as it suddenly dawned on him what was happening. "No....NOOOOO!" He managed to scream through clenched teeth before he spontaneously combusted before the eyes of the stunned Morlocks. In fractions of a second he erupted into a blazing pillar of flame, and in before anyone could even think to react, only a pile of ashes remained where a man had once been...
Iron Ham is dead. Whoever he really was, there's now far too little left of him to tell. The Day Phase is not over and continues as *normal* but it might be wise to expect anything. Make of this what you will ;)

I think this for sure tells us he was telling the truth. Why would he suddenly die if he was targeting a townie.. and have Sinister remark "did you think it'd be that easy".
However, the question is, if we try and lynch him again, will the same thing happen? Does he have some immunity to day lynching?

I don't know about that.
A bomb would mean both of them would die when bamf! was lynched or else targeted.
Since bamf! is still alive, he can't have been a bomb.
However, he (or someone who wanted to make him look guilty) could have a day kill power.
I'll leave my vote on bamf! for now, but I'm not going to pretend I think IH's death proves anything. Also, if anyone has any info on either IH or bamf!, now is the time to tell us.

Well, it means that what IH was trying to do, Sinister didn't like.
If Sinister doesn't want us to kill bamf, I'm fairly sure that means we should kill him.
As for worrying about getting killed trying to lynch him? No, I don't think that's a problem. I doubt he can kill more than one person in a day.
Immunity to lynching? That's a strong possiblity. Maybe he becomes lynchable if one of his henchmen dies?

My guess is that Sinister (or possibly Apocalypse) realized that IH was an investigator, and that our doctor would be protecting him tonight. Sinister used his day kill power to get rid of IH when he was vulnerable, rather than try to figure out who the doctor was and kill him and then kill IH.
Sadly, that was quite a good use of his power.

My one and only hesitation is that if this was Apocalypse, it doesn't confirm anything about bamf!
You see, if Apocalypse can have one day kill, and he notices one person saying he is 100% certain that someone else is evil, he might say "Haha, it won't be that easy" and kill him.
In that case, bamf! isn't necessarily evil. IH could have been mafia or misdirected.
That being said, I think that the killer was Sinister, not Apocalypse, which makes bamf! our best lead. If bamf! turns out to be good, though, that would make Apocalypse the day killer, since Sinister would know the majority of evil people and wouldn't have killed IH for falsely accusing anyone.
And I don't know if it'd be a good idea for anyone to start revealing info about Iron Ham. Wouldn't that make them the mafia's next target?
Good point. We don't want to give away any important roles with a day killer out there unless they can at least point us to a bad guy. Confirming the alignment of a corpse is not worth losing a cop/tracker over.

Current Vote Count:
bamf! (13) Doombot, Thawmus, Rokk, Dumas, JoH, Turtle, scehaono, Shel, Cur, Vision, Stepper, TAK, Calablog
And it looks like unless he's got some sort of protection, bamf! is swinging.

Well, Doombot and Thawmus were the first to support his lynch call for bamf. I was wondering if either of you two had reasons for doing that.
Well, not one of the ones you're asking about but as the third one to back IH, I can explain my reasoning at least. It just would have been nigh-suicidal for IH to try and lynch a townie on Day One in such a blatant manner. Barring the use of a special day power that might freeze tomorrow's Day Phase, IH would have been swinging on a rope if wrong (well, I can think of a few ways he could finagle his way out but I don't think they're up IH's personality-alley). So being that out-and-out insistant on a lynch on day one likely meant he had a sincere reason for believing such.

We actually don't know if Thor is in the game; he just played a small but pivotal role in the original story as he beat the tar out of the Marauders (including killing one of them) and rescued a crucified Angel (who looks like he could use some rescuing if we're guessing right).
There -may- be two - or even three if the New Mutants are here - X-teams if both X-Men and X-Factor are here (and they likely would be as the story focused most heavily on them).
Townies seem to be Morlocks and X-Men (and the likely X-Factor).

Alright, Carlos.
Quick rundown of the mutant massacre.
The Maradaurs: Sabertooth, Riptide, Scalphunter, Arclight, Harpoon, Blockbuster, Vertigo, Scrambler, Prism and Malice (in Polaris' body) went into the morlock tunnels to kill the morlocks on Sinister's orders. Later, it was revealed that the reason for this is that the morlocks were created by Dark Beast and Sinister wanted all evidence of DB's work whipped out. It was also revealed that Gambit gathered the Maradaurs and led them to the morlock tunnels.
The Maradaurs work for Sinister and are probably the mafia.
The Morlocks are probably the town.
The X-Men and the original X-Factor (as in Cyclops, Jean, Beast, Angel, Iceman) went into the tunnels separately to defend the Morlocks.
Thor and Power Pack did as well.
Dazzler and Apocalypse were not involved in the storyline IIRC, so I'm not sure why they are here.
However, Angel's wings were torn off turning the Mutant Massacre by Harpoon and Blockbuster, so a tie in with Apocalypse recruiting Angel isn't unheard of.

vote lynch: Bamf
Following the directions of whoever the stranger who was now a pile of ashes had been, the Morlocks rushed towards an old and abandoned chamber and broke down the door.
Inside they found just what they had hoped for, one of the murderers, trapped in his own hole. Unfortunately, had been warned and was ready for them. As they barged into the room, a hail of gun-fire greeted them!
It would have been a disaster, had not one man selflessly hurled himself infront of the crowd. Hundreds of bullets slammed into the brave hero, and rebounded off him like water off a goose!
At such short range, the majority of the ricochets did not have to fly far before they found their closest target, the murderer himself!
With a stunned look on his face he crashed to the ground, killed by his own weapon. The hero used the confusion to quickly slip away into the darkness, but several of the Morlocks saw a glimpse of shining metal underneath his concealing robes and rags.
bamf! is dead! He was Scalphunter, Merciless mutant murderer and leader of the Marauders (evil, team: Marauders)!
DarkCorsair should have been dead as well, gunned down by the vengeful Marauder, but for some strange reason, he isn't...
Day 2 has now officially ended and this thread will be closed. Night 2 has now begun (so start sending those PM's!) If possible, Night 2 will end in 24 hours (or when all PM's are in). If this proves too difficult due to the weekend, an extension may be granted.
Due to the weekend, I'll be nice and grant people a small extentension and see if everyone can get the last few PM's in before Day 3 begins.
The write-up of Night 2 and the official start of Day 3 will be up later today. That is all :)

Night 2: Write-up
Just like last night, the Morlocks huddle in their lairs, fearing that every shadow might conceal a killer, and hoping against hope that peace will return to their underground home once again.
Some, however, are determined to fight back, refusing to go gently into that good night...
The ragged man once again put his flute to his lips, and the eirie tune echoed down the tunnels, calling out to eyes and ears beyond count. Unseen by all, they they scurried through twisted passages and collapsed tunnels to secretly spy on one person, striding resolutely through the muck.
Not noticing the untold eyes studying him, the man walked on, determined not to fail. So focused was he on his goal that he failed to heed the warning from his warrior reflexes until it was too late. A woman leapt out from the shadows and placed her hand on his unprotected arm with one lightning-fast motion!
The man sank to his knees, feeling all strength leaving his powerful form, but his indomitable will remained. Focusing all his rapidly draining strength and force of will he tore off his assailant and hurled the woman through the wall with more than enough force to pulverise any normal man (or woman).
Using the cloud of dust and masonry as cover, his attacker fled back into the shadows, never noticing the glint of a pair of different, much larger, feral eyes from the darkness who watched her as she ran, while the proud warrior finally allowed himself to fall. His strength would return, he knew, he just hoped it would do so in time...
****
Elsewhere, the old man wasted no time, headed directly for the hidden chamber where the Morlocks had found, and killed the Marauder. The entire section of tunnels had been completely abandoned, so no-one else noticed or questioned his task at hand.
He kneeled over the bullet-ridden corpse, placed both hands on it's chest and reached out with his powers. Astonishingly, there was still the faintest spark of life left in the body. A spark that he could fan into a flame!
Pouring everything he had into the corpse, the old man groaned in pain, determined to drain himself completely of power if he had to.
Minutes that felt like hours went by. Finally, the old man tore away his hands with a final scream of pain. The effort had drained him of every single drop of power. He knew he was burned out permanently, and only barely alive. But it had worked! The corpse moved a finger, then a hand and suddenly, his eyes snapped open. With one fluid motion, Scalphunter snatched up a knife and pressed it against the old man's throat. Then, his eyes caught notice of something around the neck of the old man. A cruel smile crossed his face, and his cold laughter echoed through the tunnels...
****
The woman sat alone in her room, legs crossed and eyes closed. It was hard to concentrate with so much dread and terror in the air, but she had to do something. She breathed in deep from the vapours of her hookah, and once again expelled a cloud of sweetly-scented smoke that drifted down the tunnels.
Just around a bend, the green-skinned child was heading home. He was scared, afraid of all the strangers, afraid of dying, and for the first time in as long as he could remember, he was afraid of the darkness. He wanted to go home, wanted to go back to his mother, but as he turned the corner, almost at her door, he was caught in the middle of the cloud of smoke!
His head spinning, the child walked out the other side of the smoke cloud, and couldn't remember a thing. Where was it he wanted to go again? Did he want to find somebody? Maybe find a friend, friends could tell him where he should go. He nodded in agreement with himself, and went out to find a friend.
It didn't take him long to spot someone he thought he knew, but then again, his memory was still fuzzy, and it's hard to find a friend when he changes how he looks from day to day. Still, it could be him! The child walked forward smiling, and found himself standing infront of a short (though taller than him by far), stocky man in a strange costume. His eyes wandered to the six metal claws protruding from his hands, and with a small yelp of fear the child turned and ran as away as fast as he possibly could.
The man who had spooked him stopped dead in his tracks and cursed up a storm. He had no idea why, but as soon as that kid had approached he had completely lost the scent he had been tracking, and now it was gone. He was not happy at all...
****
The old woman was still alone in her room, terribly worried about her child. She hoped he was safe, and she hoped she could protect him against the monsters roaming the alley. She had lost too many children already, she would not loose one more! Concentrating, she focused on her power, sending it outwards in wave after wave, hoping she could at least keep *someone* safe tonight. Just like last night, she never once noticed she was being watched from the shadows by a silent figure again...
****
Near the room where Plague had lived, where the bloated body of Mikhail Rasputin had been found, a man emerged from hiding once he had made sure no-one was around. He pulled out a syringe, and carefully injected himself with something before he entered the room to have a look. The rotting body of Mikhail had no real interest to him, but the few remaining traces of Plague, now those were interesting. He smiled, and the dim light reflected off his teeth, it had been years since he'd have a challenge as interesting as this!
****
The man walked alone through the tunnels, and though his body was armoured against any attack, his soul was bleeding. Someone he had thought lost years and years ago had turned out to be alive, and was now dead again. He was not sure he could bear such sorrow. His mighty heart felt like it was breaking in half, but for the sake of his friends. For the sake of all those innocents who would die if he did not protect them, he carried on!
Lost in his thoughts and anguish like this, he never saw his attacker before he struck. The young man jumped down from a ledge above him and landed on his back. Normally, a flea landing on a bull would have had less effect than this, but the moment they touched, his armoured hide instantly turned to flesh and blood and his colossal strength left him. "Hi", his young attacker grinned cruelly. "You just lost your powers, and now you're going to loose your life!" he pulled a switchblade from his jacket and advanced on his powerless victim.
"Tovarish, I may not have my powers, but I am far from beaten!" His would-be victim replied, lashing out with a devastating right hook delivered with almost impossible speed for someone so large. The young, overconfident attacker was caught directly on the chin and thrown to the ground before he could even think of using his knife. Desperately trying to get away he grapped a fistful of muck and hurled it in the hero's eyes, blinding him just long enough for him to escape back into the cover of darkness.
****
Night 2 has ended, and miraculously, no-one has died at all! Quite the opposite in fact, as bamf! has been brought back from the dead!
The few remains of Plague has mysteriously vanished from her room, and one of you still seems to be missing (and won't count for voting purposes).
Day 3 has officially begun, and with 23 players currently present and able to vote, 12 votes is a majority.

For me, that's "plan B." We know he's a fine target, but I'm not gonna throw down a vote until we see if anyone wants to share any info about other possible targets. I don't want to railroad a re-lynch and allow the Mafia another quick night phase until we're sure no one wants to share anything. I like the re-lynch idea, but I wanna give others a chance to put things out there, if they have anything.
Also, townies, watch out for Malice and her mind control. I'm almost certain she's the one who restored bamf!. The item around the old man's neck that scalphunter saw is likely to be Malice's choker, which is what lets her possess people. If she can move from body to body and keep the powers, we could have trouble.

Cripes, townies, I'm looking back over the results coming out so far, and we might have a crazy twist coming up in the form of Apoc's 4 Horsemen. Plague vanished in game after making a night 1 kill. Apoc made Plague into a Horseman in continuity, so his removal from the game might only be temporary. He may be back (possibly with Angel) as some of the Horsemen. So we might have Marauders and Horsemen to deal with down here. Things are getting ugly, and fast.

Stupid question...but that write-up sounds more and more like Healer is the old man (as his powers were limited and could bring the injury onto himself to a degree)...so why on Earth would Healer have helped Scalphunter? Malice-possession, maybe? Or, perhaps, someone resurrected by Healer is "indebted" and becomes a vanilla Morlock?

It seems to me that a "Warrior" was attacked by Rogue last night, and the Piper's rats saw it happen. And someone else was watching, too.
Also, I think DC is C-los. And I'm thinking he probably got attacked last night.
Given that he's already been attacked, I don't see any harm in his confirming this.

How about this for a theory? Malice starts the game possessing Dazzler (which did happen for a time). She might be shielded from cops in that body. On night 1, she "takes over" Healer and pushes Dazzler down the stairs while she is still disoriented. Now, the player who is Healer is the "missing" player, because to tell us who is missing is to reveal whose body Malice is in. The person playing Malice gets to use the powers of the host, and the host can't post/vote since they're just along for the ride. If Malice moves to another body without killing her current host, that player will get dropped back into the game, and someone else will be "missing" since Malice is working through someone else.

A funny thought, although from the write up it sounds like Healer (possessed by Malice) won't work again, what with all the talk about about 'burning out'.
However, I'm curious what the real benefit of ressurecting Scalphunter is? Since he's been pretty clearly identified at this point, doesn't he now become an automatic lynching? Or do the mafia have a protector that can keep him secure for a little while?
Don't forget though, with Sinister's clone tanks, the Marauders never really go down.

Are the x-men definitely in the same faction as the Morlocks? I recall during Mutant Massacre the Morlocks being scared of the X-men (and often angry at Storm), but probably things will be kept simpler than that.
2 things:
1) Careful with your posting. Editing is strictly forbidden as per the rules on page 1. There were no posts after yours when you edited, so you're prolly okay, but that's up to the mod. Editing can be considered cheating in a game where what you say is public record for the whole game.
2) If our mod is being story-faithful, possible allies of the Morlocks might be the X-men, X-Factor, or Thor and the Power Pack.
NO EDITS!
*is still dead, sorry Melky but I hd to point this out*
No problem, thanks for pointing it out :)
What the dead guy said Zak. No editing is allowed. I'll let this one slide, but its grounds for immediate mod-killing, so be very, very careful in the future, ok?

Ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooh.
Yeah, I'll be super careful. I added the 2nd sentence, won't happen again.

and for the mafia side of things, we (pretty much obviously) have the marauders - either with mr sinister or apocalypse leading them, with my money on sinister - though was he working directly under apocalypse's orders in that story line?
also my guess is that x factor are indies charged with protecting the good mutants, though to them, removing morlocks from the situation may be the same thing

Also, I think DC is C-los. And I'm thinking he probably got attacked last night.
I guess the maradaurs didn't take the "look who is invulnerable to night kill" scene from the previous day very seriously.
I'm also disappointed that if they were gonna attack Colossus, they didn't send Riptide.
That is an amazing theory for the missing player.
That would explain why Dazzler seemingly was killed by nobody, why someone is missing and can't post/play, and it accounts for Malice changing bodies.
Also, I agree with your speculation that Healer was possessed by Malice and that Healer resurecting the dead was a one time occurance.
Just to save you all a lot of potential lost time here, the missing player can't be lynched either, just thought you might like to know that :)
ON that note, does lynching Malice release the player? Or would lynching Malice kill the host?

Thats all good to know...but who do we lynch??

Theory (I know, Vision, it doesn't really help us lynch someone): We'll at some point have to deal with the four horsemen, if not Apocalypse himself.
Angel was taken, material from Plague was taken.
Wolverine and Gambit are here.
Sabertooth and Caliban are likely here as well.
That seems like plenty of characters (though we do double up on Pestilence and Death) to form the four horsemen out of.
How do we feel about Angel or any other person who might now be a horseman?
Thats all good to know...but who do we lynch??
It's a young day phase, and there's NFL on right now. It'll probably be a while before we see answers.
And if we don't come up with one, we can just lynch bamf again.

Oooh, this time we could hang him. Or honey barbecue.

well if the horsemen come out, we know Kontrol is one of them and would be easy to lynch. I agree with dazzler being malice and the healer is the new malice. soooo plan b kill bamf. it looks like Rogue RBed one of the mafia guys, since I think she is more important then the rat guy the rat guy should let us know who the mafia guy is so we can have a second option, or our vigilente can kill them :)

So the roleblocker is more important than the tracker/cop?
That's....huh....you might have to explain that one to me....
In any case, what about "the warrior" strikes you as mafia, Mr. Rattler? :cheeky:

We go that way we have to suspect every X-character as I'd swear between Sinister, Malice and Pocky almost all of them have worked for Apocalypse at some point.
I still strongly suspect the Horsemen haven't "solidified" yet and may be rescuable (remember Angel didn't immediately become Death until later).

But how would we be able to rescue them? Have a tracker investigate them and maybe trigger an event?
I fear that they are lost to us. :(

 well it just looked like the rat guy is more of a watcher then a cop,... but I don't know if we lost our dr. so the rats can be protected. I said to let the "tracker" speak bc our RBers must have done something right. noone died yesterday.

I'm not so sure. There are a lot of unknown variables. I'd be more comfortable if our RBers picked the same targets tonight, to see if you're right.
Keep in mind that Sinister or Apoc killed one of our cops during the previous day phase. They might have forgone their night kill ability as a result.
There's also the resurrection to consider.
Also, two people WERE attacked last night, they just both seem to be "Bulletproof". Not enough to really make me feel warm and cozy at the moment.

BTW, we are MUCH better off night killing Bamf, rather than lynching him. He'll probably try to auto-lynch someone again if we try to hang him.

hmm...i wonder if sinister would be able to resurrect one person a night, has a number of resurrections over the course of the game, or if it gets progressively harder to resurrect them repeatedly (ie, first death, 1 night, 2nd death 2 nights, etc)
