Hey!
In this thread, I will post a song that I like, or maybe a new song that I think'll be big, or a classic track that i'll always love, every day or every other day.
I hope that I can share some of my music taste with people who maybe haven't heard of some of the people, as I enjoy listening to other people's music too.
I may do small artist spotlights, and I'll kick the thread off with one.
My first choice will be; Deborah "Debbie" Harry
Deborah Harry is an American singer who has released five solo albums (Koo Koo, Rockbird, Def, Dumb & Blonde, Debravation and the new release, Necessary Evil), as well as many one-off tracks, collaborations and remixes. She's performed and recorded with the Jazz Passengers, Los Fabulosos Cadillacs and The Heads, but is perhaps best known as being the lead singer of the band Blondie.
Her first album, Koo Koo, was neither a critical nor commercial success, but the use of so many different styles is admirable, and she pulls it off well IMO.
"Backfired", directed by H.R Giger (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9uJNp4uwDFA)
I love Giger's stuff, but these videos really are shockingly bad, even for the time! This song is the first single off Koo Koo, but definitely isn't the best this album has to offer.
"New York New York" Collaboration with Moby (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=tbQNgOKzZh8)
This cool song is one of many collaborations Debbie has done, though this is her most recent.
"Two Times Blue", her latest single from Necessary Evil (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TALzUjdEZGA)
Folowing the trend of mediocre videos, here's her latest single, a great track that I really love.
And finally, one her biggest hits, French Kissin' In The USA (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gWjLGItSq_4).
Kinda standard 80's fare, but pleasant nonetheless.
I see something/hear something that differentiates her from other similar artists, I'm not sure what though.
Hope you liked some of her stuff.
