I've heard from various sources that the collectable figure game actually was released 19 September 2007, but apparantly in very limited release. Here in SE Michigan we haven't seen it at any store yet, and my son is getting somewhat more disappointed each week.

(I was able to talk him down over the summer when it was originally delayed...but its getting harder as time goes by).

Anybody seeing these in any other parts of the US?

We finally got these in SE Michigan!

We started with a starter pack on Tuesday (Toys R Us) and a 3-figure booster on new comic book day (Comic Book Store)

It sounds like these are going to sell out PDQ, which is going to break my son's heart (he's been promised a booster a week if his grades stay good).

There's really only one that I want, and I don't even know if it's in the set.

IIRC, there is a wikipedia page that lists the figures in the set. I think there may be four figures not listed on that page (we'd been doing lots of googling waiting for the game!)

The extra figures that I don't remember being listed are the three "starter" Pokemon from Diamond&Pearl (added for the US release), and a "referee" figure from the special dual starters.

That's stunning me!!! This game's out in Germany for at least a year if not longer....usually we get stuff very late, at least after the States.

Yes, that surprised us too. The game has been "repackaged" for the US release: There are now 3 booster variants:

1 fig boosters w/ a single visible figure
2 fig boosters, 1 fig visible, 1 "hidden" figure, 1 "hidden" card
3 fig boosters, just like the 2 fig boosters, but with a 3rd visible figure that is always one of the three "starter" pokemon from Diamond and Pearl. We also don't have the "dual starter" (yet).

The weird things that we're seeing in the early US release:

Starters are hard to come by (not totally surprising, as you need a minimum of 6 figures to play a game...and both players may not want to "share" a trainer)
Speculators are using the non-US prices to fuel their own speculative habits...for instance, certain (non-starter) figures from non-US release may be in higher demand overseas (based on rarity?) but in the US release can be seen...so those packs are being grabbed hoping to make a quick profit. The local (game) stores have been told they probably won't get any more product until AFTER the Christmas Holiday(!) So here in the US we are probably going to have to endure a few months of wild prices as speculators hoard the product and slowly release it on the auction sites.

Our local game store told us that they had recieved an email saying that they were tied up in customs. We live in Indiana. My son is also really looking forward to them.

So we finally got our starter sets in yesterday. No boosters yet, but at least we got starters. I picked up on of each for my son and I. We got to playing today pretty quick, and aside from a little ambiguity in some of the rules, it was a quick learn. The gameplay is fast paced and fun! Looks like I have to find storage for ANOTHER CMG!!!:knockedou

My wife really, really wants all of these.
Anyone have doubles they feel like trading for some clix?

We've been going slow (my son may get a booster as a reward for a perfect spelling test each week), but we got our first "double" from the "hidden figure". I was mildy annoyed because it was a double of a figure that is visible on many of the packs.

I guess it is a common! (Eevee)

I was also annoyed when we bought two two-fig boosters. One had Ho-Oh showing and it was the "secret fig" in the other booster. I'm looking forward to our three-fig boosters coming in to the local game store.

It would have been nice if one of the starters came with white ring figs too! Out of 12 figures (Two starters and two two-fig boosters) we have only TWO white rings! :disappoin

The 3-figure boosters are cool (since you can see 2 of 3 figures, and its the only way to get the D&P starter Pokemon) but from the small number I've seen...it isn't obvious that you will be able to buy 3 packs and not get a duplicate of one of the figures...we've only seen Lugia and Fearalligator (SP?) as the second visible Pokemon.

Since the rings are switchable, as long as you can get some you should be good.

Tehe wife  I have an extra Salamence and an extra Corsola for trade. Anyways, my venue has some extra 2 boosters left (mostly with white ringsas I bought most of the black rings) as well as a starter left (white ring; Flamethrower). More should be coming in after a convention this week.

Seems like you and I have had this conversation about my wife before.
She'd be interested in the Corsola, she has the Salamence.
Take a peek at my trade list, see if there are any Heroclix you'd want for it.

They were in overseas release over a year ago. He in the US they've only been in domestic release for about a month.

I'm pretty sure we saw Salamence in one of the $4 single booster packs, so it shoudln't be hard to come by.

I got a Riptide starter, (2) 3 fig boosters, and (1) 2 figure booster.

All of my "secret" figures were figures in the Riptide starter (Pikachu, Murkrow, Eevee) :tired:

What I did get, that I didn't even see on the set list, were 2 promo figures Turtwig & Piplup (Promo #1 & 3).

What's up with the promo figures? Are they just the 3 Pokemon you can begin the video game with in diamond & pearl? (I think the flaming monkey is the 3rd)

*Also, what exactly is the purpose of the damage values (ie; Tackle=20, Thundershock=40, Suprise=20) if the characters are returned to the bench after getting delt just 10 damage?

Is it for when you have 2 Pokemon (attacking & Defending) and they both spin a White Attack? Would the Pokemon with the higher damage value win and not be damaged, or would they both win the attack and knock each other out? It seems that you only really need to deal 10 damage to another figure to return it to the bench, so having attacks with 30, 40, or 50 damage seems unnessessary.

My initial thought when I saw that was to add a damage counter of some sort (like the card game), but There aren't rules for that.

I definitely don't like that "non secret" figures show up in the "secret" slots.

Turtwig, Piplup and Chimchar are figures added to the US release; they only come (one each) in the 3-figure "booster". One of them is always visible.

When the results are white v. white, the lower damage figure goes to the pokemon center; the other figure has won.

Additionally, my son and I decide "who goes first" by each of us picking a single figure from our team and spin-off to see who goes first. This provides some motivation for including at least one of the powerful/slow figures on your team.

Thanks!

I hope in future expansions they begin to use the pokemon types (ie; grass vs fire, Electric vs Water) in the actual battle mechanics. They've used type match-up bonuses in just about every other Pokemon game they've made, I hope it makes it into this game.

Looks like I'll be making a road trip to a comic store I know has them in stock this evening!

If it helps at all, Target and Toys r Us both carry them.
Target being slightly cheaper.

Thanks for the tip!

My comic store actually had the 3 packs discounted to $10.00, and the Flamethrower starter was $15.00. Got myself a Misty, Ho-Oh, Lugia, Chimchar, Shroomish, & Weezing (who rocks w/ Poison BTW).

I played about 3 games with a few friends last night, and I really really dig this game. The games have a decent depth of strategy & manuevering and you can finish a game in as little as 10-20 minutes for the 3 on 3 matches. I'll be trying out the 6 on 6 battles this evening.

Up for trade are extras for: Mukrow, Meoweth, Eevee, Lugia, Turtwig, Chimchar, Piplup, Pikachu.

Need: Groudon, Kyogre, Abra, Absol, Dratini, Skarmory, Corsola, Golem, Mudkip, Raichu, Scyther, Voltorb, Beedril, Doduo, Ekans, Machop, Mareep, Marill, Nidoran Male, Sentret, Spearow, Tauros, Teddiursa, Weedle, & Brock.

My girlfriend was cursing me for buying the game, because she's hooked now

We found them at Toy's r Us.

here is a cool idea i made up

loganbailey
11/10/2007, 13:02
my idea is to have each side of the field be the two ends of the map. There is no hypersonic and no flyer's and every one has to have super strength. there is one heavy object and 5 light objects the point is to have one person carry the heavy object then the other team has to attack but before you roll the dice you have to say if you are going to do damage or to take the football for you. then the point of the game is to get the ball into the touch down. you can also through the ball to another team member if there is a opposing figure in front of you or next to you you will have to roll the dice you have a bonus 2 if you win the catch then you get the ball. know if the defender wins the roll you have a choice as the defender you can just deflect the ball or you can have another roll of and then if you win you intercept the ball and then you have it. Know you can only be tackled four times then it is turn offer. then you give it to the person who is closest to you and it starts again of to score a touch down.
