So, I thought it would be interesting to see who everyone thinks should win the awards for this season. Here's my take:

AL Cy Young: CC Sabathia
NL Cy Young: Jake Peavy
NL Rookie of the Year: Bryan Braun
AL Rookie of the Year: Billy Butler
AL Comeback Player of Year: Carlos Pena

NL Manager of the Year: Lou Piniella

...Its Ryan Braun. And no love for Joe Torre. To comeback from a defecit like that, and make it to the playoffs, AGAIN is quite amazing.

Yeah, but, are you surprised at all that they did it?

The Yankees were expected to make the playoffs. They have the best line-up in the majors. It really doesn't take a lot of managerial skill when you can plan on getting seven runs a game. Granted, they did have a lot of injury problems, and their pitching rotation was a nightmare for most of the year, so I can see that a case can be made for Torre.

Personally, no. But almost everyone I know gave up on them. I was one of few who believed in them. And with their terrible pitching rotation, and slow start (besides arod) i think it took some good managing.
