Let's talk about the Instrumental songs you like. You know the songs the bands put out so the lead singer can rest his/her vocal chords (assuming they're not lip synching anyway). There've been some good ones in the past. I've mentioned a few good ones for the One Hit Wonders thread. (Hocus Pocus, Popcorn and Autobahn.) "Frankenstein" by Edgar Winter was mentioned though I don't think that qualifies as a OHW.
Other instrumentals I really like are:

Albatross by Fleetwood Mac

Pat Metheny Band (This is Jazz but it's Jazz that is friendly toward the mainstream.)

I was hoping to include "Asleep in the Desert" from the "Tejas" album by ZZ Top but I couldn't find any links (yet).

I don't think 'Autobahn' is a one hit wonder.

Anyway, favourites of mine include Chariots of Fire (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TYJzcUvS_NU), Axel F (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=h2L-3ocw1QI&mode=related&search=) and apart from the synthie stuff, Nightwish's Crimson Tide / Deep Blue Sea (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hv3PHI0QwQ4).

Ice Bandits (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g_m4n9Ha8hg)

It's a Garbage B-side, but it's really just a James Bond theme.

There's no Youtube Link for it, but if you go to Deezer.com and search carefully enough, you can find a music link for one of my favorites:

The Rock-The Who, Quadrophenia Album

Quadrophenia-The Who, Quadrophenia Album is also pretty good.

Soul Sacrifice (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XnamP4-M9ko#) - Santana

Bassically (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uh0jbbh4d3c#) - Black Sabbath (Well, it's a bass solo introduction into NIB, but I count it :p )

Battles - Clannad (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=NYD1xy7zKR8) You have to hear this on a real system, the bass is devastating.

Tubular Bells pt1a - Mike Oldfield (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xPEt5OTR6Vc) Tubular Bells pt1b (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Pk_rtkMr3e0) Tubular Bells pt2 (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4EZTLCtZ-g)

I'm gonna throw out a couple jazz pieces here. Just about everyone with a radio or television has heard Take Five. (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DDOgYw5-pNs) And you can't go wrong with Weather Report featuring a young Jaco Pastorius playing that old Fender Jazz bass of his...Birdland (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=pqashW66D7o)

Probably "Hibernation (live)" by Ted Nugent. He talks a bit in the track, but that's not part of the song.

Of course there's also "Jessica" and "Pegasus" by The Allman Brothers Band, "Black Mountain Side" by Led Zeppelin, and "Eagle Brother" by Ted Nugent.

;)

Allmans have several excellent ones.

2/3s of Ted Nugent's Stranglehold is an excellent instrumental.

As far as Zappa goes there are a lot of instrumentals to choose from.
I'll have to go for Eat that question as my favourite though.

I was riding my bike and I heard someone blasting this from his car a couple weeks ago. I hauled to catch up with him at the next light, just so I could flash him the "big metal" sign to indicate how much I appreciated his addition to the audio landscape.

Oh, and let me add "The Feeling Begins," (http://www.twango.com/media/benitezja.public/benitezja.10317?sort=3) the opening track from Peter Gabriel's soundtrack to The Last Temptation of Christ.

I don't think 'Autobahn' is a one hit wonder.

Well, perhaps not in Germany, but I have trouble finding references to any other hits that they had and definitely don't recall any.

a couple of songs I'd love to find but can't seem to are "Worldwinds" by a band called Tucky Buzzard and the Elf Song. The Elf Song artist is unknown to me but it was on a Warner Brothers collection designed as a sampler for various music acts signed to their label. The one that had this song was a three disc collection called "Looney Tunes and Merry Melodies".

The Tucky Buzzard song was the final track from an album I own who's name escapes me at the moment, but it was my favorite song on the LP. I found a CD of the album available a few years back but I was so annoyed that this song was left out I decided not to buy it.

Here's a link to another German group who are Kraftwerk's contemporaries.

Phaedra by Tangerine Dream
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=D4vP5uRz1lw

Apparently; according to a quote I saw on Wikipedia, members of Kraftwerk resented the idea of Tangerine Dream anglicising their identity by using the name Tangerine Dream.

Is anybody familiar with Jean Michel Jarre? I was introduced to him when I lived in England in the Eighties. He's very difficult to find here in the States and I'm never sure where the stores would stock him. I'd put links up but I need to reaquaint myself with him to remember which tracks I would prefer to share.
