Cereal Mafia Game Thread

Okay, this is the official game thread - which I'll be locking shortly until we officially enter the night phase sometime tomorrow. The thread will remain open for questions and such.

So, here are the basics rules of the thread/game: There are similarities with exception to this first rule.

1. There are multiple teams that have been balanced, unlike previous games. Each character has been given a color alliance. You will be allowed to communicate with any living character (dead people still can't talk), by any means. PM's, phone calls, snail mail...whatever. The idea is that each person can lie, cheat and steal to find friends even if they not in fact aligned together. I want you to be sly, evil and crafty. There will be powers to find these things out, but at first it will basically seem to be every man/woman for themself. Team colors will not be announced, but character colors were randomized so role calling will not have the same "outing" effect. Do your characters proud and act them out as best you can.

2. Votes for lynching must be bolded.

3. Once you're dead, you need to not only refrain from discussing the game -at all- (this includes no PM's to former team members or chatting in other threads about it) but from posting on the game thread.

4. There is no editing of posts allowed in the thread. Yes, that means we can all point fun at each other's typos - even changing them is not allowed - but it's the standard rule and a good one so I'm sticking by it.

5. If you have to PM me an action, be sure to do so before the Night Phase is up or I'll choose for you. Simultaneously, if you're restricted or have a rule that adjusts your actions, be sure to follow it.

6. Hey, it's just a game. Have fun and remember at the end of the day we aren't actually accusing one another so don't take any "in game" comments to heart. We're all going to lie and be dirty backstabbing scoundrels in the game so don't hold it against anyone when they do it.

7. The game moderator - yep, still me - reserves the right to change things at any time or make a game decision.

Number one baby!!!

Day 1:

In the middle of the town the Supermarket was as crowded as any other day of the week. Quietly behind the stacks of cereal boxes, characters were busy chatting away in their normal comical way.

"Noboby can get me lucky charms" yells the Leprechaun, just to get a laugh (yes, it's funny to cereal as well).

The Rabbit is jumping around on edge, whispering to each friend that walks by. "Come on guys, there aren't any kids around. Please, please, please can I have some."

A child is carted by screaming for Coco the Monkey, but his mother simply tries to quiet him down. Coco makes an ugly face at the boy, which finally makes him shut up.

A tall man comes by with his two younger children. Each aim for different cereal boxes, smiling at the different cartoons plastered on the boxes. The father tells his children that generic is the same cereal without the cartoons. The children flash an angered look, which frightens even Booberry. (They might grow up to be serial killers, but will have no further part in this game).

A ferocious roar is heard from far down the row. Fred and Barney run down to see what is the matter. Tony tries to speak, but it simply will not come out. He collapses off the shelf and only then can they see what happened. Tony the Tiger (played by RCricket55, alignment: Orange and Black) has been defrosted. He can bring no further joy from children and must be removed from the shelf.

Night Phase has begun, get me your PM's as soon as you can.

Well, I'm not an admiral in this game. Course, I'm not the first one dead either so that's always good.

There have been a bunch of questions about who is evil/good and win conditions.

There is no good or evil (come on, even Count Chocula makes kids happy). Each color alignment wants to be the last remaining boxes on the shelf. Team Orange and Black was hoping to be the only cereal left (which of course failed, since he was the only member on his team).

The rules have been altered slightly so PMing is allowed from anyone at anytime. As mentioned I want PM's to fly trying to convince people that you are in it together. Form an alliance with another color to become stronger and then try to see who can take each other out in the end.

Hopefully this makes a little more sense. Figured it would be fun to try something a little different and that a cereal mafia was probably the best time to try it.

I'll leave this up a bit longer for questions. Still waiting on a few PM's.

Night 1:

Mortified at the loss of Tony, many cereals decided to stay up and talk. Wondering how there could be anyone that would want to hurt Tony. Slowly characters started getting defensive, and you could see they were banding together. To most it would seems like fun and games, but in the cereal world it can be murder.

Cap'n Crunch sat on the edge of the shelf playing the new demo version of Halo3. The Trix Rabbit had offered the game hoping to distract the Cap'n...boy was he right. The Cap'n stayed up all night long and was unable to wake this morning.

Krusty, Yummy Mummy and Frankenberry were playing cards near the generic cereal. Krusty, proud of his tough looking spider tattoo started calling Frankenberry a sissy. Frankenberry, feeling inferior jumped across the table to crush Krusty, but Yummy Mummy got in the way. "Relax Frank, it's just a temporary tattoo". Leaving with tears in his eyes Frankenberry returned to his box for the evening.

Snap! couldn't control his urge. Crackle! agreed as he was also drawn in. The red light was so beautiful it mesmerized even Pop! Nearer and nearer they came until they heard a loud "BEEP". Snap! Crackle! and Pop! (KitsuShel, Team: Purple) have been rung up.

Back near the bottom shelf, the new Shrek Toy was getting on everyone's nerves. He wasn't classic like the other cereal characters, merely a promotional toy. Cornelius pecked at him, laughing as Shrek ran away. The laughing would not continue, as Shrek returned with a gallon of milk. Cornelius (Antipathy, Team: Purple) has been sogified:)

I'll ask that KitsuShel and Antipathy not post in this thread again. Day 1 has officially started.

If you get someone lynched that isn't your color, I would think the only thing you have to worry about is the rest of that color coming after you.

Jeez...ya step away for a little bit and I've already got 6 votes.

I'm not sure how to go about defending myself. If I team claim and people believe me, everyone not on my team will lynch. Those who ARE on my team might remove their votes but that would show that they are on my team.

Soooo what can I do other than suggest an treaty. I say everyone who hasn't voted should band together and vote against those that have.

Well, if we lynch you then we won't have to find out just how cool your power is. I seem to remember you telling us you can't trust anyone in these mafia games. So why should the non-voters trust you and not vote for them? Makes no sense.

In Star Trek you blindly attacked during the night, so I think the same theory will work for this game. It's early so we'll have to spill some cereal and maybe even some milk to find out who people are. It will make for a much faster and much more interesting game.

Or we could just sit back and not vote for anyone. Then we could see what happens during the night. BORING! ! ! Let's get rid of Funny Screenname since he hasn't given us any info. as to why we should keep him. Who knows maybe he's purple and we can wipe out one team early?

In Star Trek you blindly attacked during the night, so I think the same theory will work for this game. It's early so we'll have to spill some cereal and maybe even some milk to find out who people are. It will make for a much faster and much more interesting game.

I'm not really complaining about being chosen randomly, that happens in this game it seems but I'd like to try and get the remaining 14 people on my side because it would benefit us all by making sure we aren't lynched and we wouldn't night kill each other because then our majority would fade.

If I said I don't trust anyone, I was wrong. In Trek for example, I trusted FFF when I had reason to trust him. The rest of my team trusted me when I showed that I could be trusted.

Here, a vote alliance works just fine because it is out for everyone to see. After a few days working together, we will be able to take out a third of the players and leave us behind.

Over the course of a day the shelves of the supermarket went crazy. Everyone was running around trying to form alliances to protect themselves. Many pointed fingers and no one knew who they could trust.

After a few hours BuzzBee and Count Chocula decided to take matters into their own hands. Each went off in different directions to plan out what they will do tomorrow night.

"Yabba dabba doo!", Fred Flintstone yells as he goes flying past Barney Rubble. Shortly after LC Leprechaun is fuming at the loss of his marshmallowy goodness. Fruit Brute, hoping to remove the Fruity Pebble king, was trying to help the little Leprechaun. When the Leprechaun caught up with Fred, he took the color right out of Fred's Pebbles. Fred Flintstone (played by bigbro911, alignment: Green) is banished from the shelves. Upon seeing this action and the excitement of the Fruit Brute, Barney in a raging fury, opened every last box of Fruit Brute cereal. Fruit Brute (played by Zombie Stomper, alignment: Yellow) has gone stale.

Boy, if kids could only see how cereal characters acted when they aren't on commericials. Many retired for the evening, but a few stayed up trying for forget the upsetting events that had occured. Sugar Bear started singing his "Can't get enough of that Sugar Crisp..." song which caused Chip the Cookie Hound to run circles around him. Hoping to cheer the hound up a bit more, Sugar Bear started feeding Chip the little cookie treats he could never seem to get his paws on. Chip ate so much he passed out and fell to the floor. Chip the Cookie Hound (played by Fing Fang Foom, alignment: Yellow) was to chip faced for his own good.

When I first set it up as a more traditional mafia game I had the monsters together, as the mafia. When I redid everything I didn't want all the monsters to get taken down fast just because everyone assumed they were together, so I randomized the teams.

Night 3:

Sugar Bear was very pleased with himself, but few would agree. With his shining new whistle he woke up every box of cereal down the entire aisle.

(Night has ended early and all night actions have been canceled).

While annoyed with waking early, it was good timing as everyone got to see the delivery man come in. There have been two new additions the cereal world.

(KitsuShel and Antipathy have re-entered the playing field. As new members neither have alignment and can be recruited by any color. Each of you must do what you can to persuade each to join your team. At the end of the day they will each choose a different team to join with. Once again my crazy cereal cartoons...play nice:))

Yeah so that the full teams can run around like a raging Juggernaut? I think not. Crusader is red and since alignment is the only thing in this game that matters, he's as good a choice as any even though I hate killing a friend for so few reasons like that.

So, sstralkowski's information was wrong. How much soggy information have you been sent in this game. I was in contact with DocDoom, so I got a lot of soggy information! And, if you aren't red, just say so. There are several other colors out there, so by claiming not to be red, that doesn't mean you are completely betraying yourself. Nobody ever said you had to roleclaim. If you had merely responded to the question of whether or not your were really red, I think that would have been a better approach. There are several other teams out there, saying you were not red would not have positively identified you as being on another team.
