A thread to promote your local bands, to get a wider fanbase for them!

Chad Suggs, aka Backseat Goodbye, lives down the road from me. He does all of the work for BG, including t-shirts, bags, cd's, posters, etc., out of his own pocket money. He's taking this semester off from college to work on getting BG an even bigger base and maybe record the first full official album. Great guitar and other instrument playing(also done by Chad), deep, thought provoking lyrics, some happy, "i love life" songs, some angry "take that" songs, and some sadder songs mean Backseat Goodbye has something for everybody.

Not as serious in the music thing as Chad is, but I like Josh's songs because of the lyrics. They're great...with ones like "Day 2 I fell for you, it's not your fault I wanted to", laid in front of rapid guitar playing and sang with his great voice, I think a lot of people could really get into him.

How bout your local bands?

These guys go to my college. (http://www.shanecooleymusic.com/)

Shane's current girlfriend roomed with (and drove a little crazy) a good friend of mine from High School last year. The bassist for the Aviators, Will Murphy, lived in the room next to mine last year. I was in a movie that he's still working on finishing.

They're working on trying to make it a little bit bigger in the music world. One of my favorite parts of their shows, strangely, is when Shane's tuning or switching out instruments and he lets Will and Christian do a little improvisational playing.

They're a good group. A little crazy though. As in strange folks, not wild, destroy your house type crazy.

I really like Backseat Goodbye! Thanks for introducing me to this! :)

I know not everyone has MySpace, but still.

Pollen 's MySpace (http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendid=195707590)

Lindsay Black is a close family friend, basically like an aunt (We have a really close knit family). I remember her giving me a Cd of Pollen when I was like 8 and not really getting it (I was in the phase of loving S Club back then).

Listening to "Finding" brings back memories! God, not listened to it in ages.

In the hiatus between disolving and reforming Pollen, Lindsay as part of many other projects, including the Loveboat Big Band, which I saw (made ABF come too). Different sound, but still pretty darn cool! Heather Macleod, a close musical partnjer of Lindsays was a singer in the LBBB, and also has material with her band The Healthy Measures.

The Bassist/ Lead singer used to work at one of my favorite comic shops and is also friends with one of my cousins. Very nice guy.

These guys are all good friends of mine. If you're ever in the Chattanooga area, you should definitely check them out:

BG reminds me of Ben Folds.

The Sister Lovers are the only local band that I would personally endorse.

The best local band I've heard is a group of guys called Once Sober. They do a perfect cover of Seether's "Fine Again."

For Once Sober's MySpace click here (http://profile.myspace.com/index.cfm?fuseaction=user.viewprofile&friendID=91452044).

Obviously they could not post the cover, but I tell you it's amazing.
