Sunnydale Secrets - The BtVS "Lost Episodes" Game

First off, the basic rules for any of my Mafia games:

1. If you need to know how to play "Mafia", well, you can either look at the zillion threads that have cropped up on it or you can get the actual rules here: Mafia Scum (http://www.mafiascum.net/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page)

2. Remember that you may not PM anyone during the game unless your write-up - or something sent to you by the game moderator (that would be me) - says that you can do so. Doing otherwise is cheating and will lead to horrible things.

3. You may not discuss this game - except in allowed PM's - outside of this thread; that includes "real life" conversation or casual mentioning of your role to a buddy.

4. Votes for lynching must be bolded. Hey, I need to keep my eyes and I want to make sure I don't miss anything. :)

5. Once you're dead, you need to not only refrain from discussing the game -at all- (this includes no PM's to former team members or chatting in other threads about it) but from posting on the game thread. I know it's a bummer and that you'll be tempted to post some witty comment or a "good bye", but, well, resist the temptation.**

6. There is no editing of posts allowed in the thread. Yes, that means we can all point fun at each other's typos - even changing them is not allowed - but it's the standard rule and a good one so I'm sticking by it.

7. If you have to PM me an action, be sure to do so before the Night Phase is up or I'll choose for you. Simultaneously, if you're restricted or have a rule that adjusts your actions, be sure to follow it.

8. Hey, it's just a game. Have fun and remember at the end of the day we aren't actually accusing one another so don't take any "in game" comments to heart. We're all going to lie and be dirty backstabbing scoundrels in the game so don't hold it against anyone when they do it.

9. The game moderator - yep, still me - reserves the right to change things at any time or make a game decision. You never know when things may get...weird...so be on your toes.

Special Game Rules

The World of Buffy the Vampire Slayer comes with a few rules that differ from a normal Mafia game.

1) Locations! - Places are pretty key to the Buffy cast of characters and this game tries to integrate that to a small degree (gotta' work on a learning curve here for both of us :) ). There will be a list of locations given out later in this thread. Each Night Phase, a player needs to PM which location they will be traveling to, searching, patroling, however you wish to think of it. Each character has a location at which he/she is particularly strong - and may gain extra power - and one or more where powers will be weaker for that individual (most places will have neither effect). Some places may also contain special secret trigger events or options for a particular character, so you may want to explore them all. It should be noted that some locations take longer to reach than others and may prevent you from checking out another location during the next one or two Night Phases. Anyone who does not PM me the location they are going to - as locations can be checked on even if you have a passive power - will have one randomly determined for him/her. I should note that things will not necessarily match up here as they might in the "regular Buffy-verse"...don't automatically assume to find Buffy at the Summers' Residence.

2) Night and Day - I'm not giving out the specifics here but something to remember is that in a game of vampires, werewolves and more, the Day and Night Phases take on some new meaning.

3) Death - In a world full of beings that rise from the grave, death may only be a beginning. That doesn't necessarily mean "Vampire" either. Players who get killed may wish to keep an eye on the thread as you never know when your "state of living"-situation may change.

Heh. Glad I read the thread before PM'ing Rokk asking about my powers. This should be cool. The locations effect will add a nice touch, I think, so long as the locations don't make it overly hard to track/investigate people. But this should be pretty neat, methinks.

The probablies (Oz, Cordelia, Faith, Riley, Tara etc.)
But what about other lesser obvious characters:
Harmony? Mrs. Calender? Jonathan (part of the trio?), Clem? Principal Wood? Principal Snider? Principal Flutie? Kendra?

The Teaser

Most girls her age would have been worrying about signing up for freshman classes at college but Dawn Summers had long since accepted that such a life wasn't for her. That was probably a good thing as thanks to a dalliance with a Thricewise - were Xander and Giles ever going to stop lecturing her about that? - she was now stuck as a giant. Most people would find that odd but that was pretty much normal for a gal like Dawn. Then again, Dawn wasn't actually a real girl in the normal sense - she was the energies of the multiverse compressed into one entity called The Key. You would think that would make her all-powerful, herself, but in reality it just meant she was sought after by people for all the wrong reasons. She was a case where people really were usually more interested in her body - specifically her blood - than her brains. Ah well, could be worse. She could be facing Algebra 101.

A lone neo-psychic was the closest any of them would ever have to a warning. He awoke from his bunk in Slayer Central Command and started to scream from the dream-vision he had just seen. The knife at his throat would ensure the scream would go unheard.

Dawn was also awoken that evening but her fate wasn't destined to be quite so fast. She also knew her attackers - men with parts of their face sewed shut by cryptic designs, they were the Harbingers and they had meant the end of Sunnydale. Even as they tied her down and began carving runic markings into her skin, she realized that unless Buffy got here fast they would also be the end of her as well. She wasn't worried yet though as Buffy always saved the day...always.

This time, Buffy blew it. It wasn't entirely her fault - something had interfered with the assorted security systems - magical and non-magical - of Slayer Central Command and no one would know what was happening to Dawn until the moment the Key's energies erupted forth from her in a brilliant emerald explosion. All across time and the multiverse, Dawn cried for help...reaching out for familiar faces, though sometimes thwarted when those familiar faces turned out to be foes. Still, her energies drew them together in the hopes that out of all of them, someone would be able to make things right...if only they could figure themselves out first.

Rokk_Krinn - Dawn (Good) - the Key - has been shattered and beings have been drawn from across the timelines of the Buffy-verse. Who will fix things and who will use the situation to cause permanent darkness to fall across the land?

Long story short. The Harbringers are acolytes/heralds of the First evil. Caleb seemed to function as his right hand man doing a lot of the heavy lifting so to speak.

Well, that's your call. It's like claiming a usage of your Night Power or Identity (not quite as much a tell though) so up to your judgement as to whether you feel it's safe or not.

Remember, Locations may factor into some people's capabilities and aren't just there for window decoration.

Night One: A Ruckus at the Magic Box

"Absolutely not, I forbid it!" the Englishman shouted at the younger, well, Englishman. The two of them briefly went back and forth in an argument before the younger one finally nodded in agreement. The honest truth was that he had been down this road previously and his failure to acknowledge the elder's knowledge and experience had led to disastrous consequences.

A being of great Evil wandered through the crowds of the Bronze, invisibly and silently perusing the sins of the young people gathered there. It was a delightful place for Evil; while so many individuals thought of the Bronze as a party spot, so much innocent blood had been spilt there over the years that there was much power to be found here if one knew how to use it.

***************************************************

Elsewhere - at a spot more commonly known for power - a great number of forces were converging. The Magic Box was a great resource for many individuals and tonight it was quite possibly going to become the final resting place for a great Hero. Ambushed by a vampire, the man held up a valiant fight; another place might have been better for him but this was hardly a spot unfamiliar to him and he had been facing this particular foe for many years. Still, despite holding his own, the man was tired and unprepared for this fight while the vampire was quite fresh and eager for blood. The fate of the Hero seemed inevitable but the arrival of others would change that. While some did their best - and failed - to stop the vampire (who called for help at one point but found his help distracted by an object of great importance in her eyes), there was one voice that rang out above all others. The tone of it was somewhat lethargic yet also annoyed even as it said - quietly but heard by all - "Just once, for old time's sake and to show you that I knew what I was doing." The flash of mystic energies that erupted forth drove off the vampire and his ally; the man was left wounded to be tended to by an old ally that arrived shortly after the fight ended.

Day Two has begun; there were no killings during Night One.

The Vision's shirt is bloody and torn, his left arm broken and his face heavily bruised.

Maybe someone blocked the don, and the other vampire was a serial killer?

My guess is that whoever was attacked by the vampire was protected by the doctor? I don't know. Nothing indicates anything but a group protecting them...

I wish I knew the "Buffy" universe better. I would probably make more sense then.

I do, i think this is done slightly more old school buffy due to the way Wes and Giles were bickering with each other, they're more action than talk later on, even when Spike's good he's prone to attacking people anyway, and that Harmony plus ceramic unicorn thing makes sense in my eyes, possibly why that person survived, i think the odds were against the vampires at the magic box, and with the good guys, course thats just me, and i was also thinking it was Xander too the way it was written in the write up, he just holds his own, i think another character may have faired better

Wesley* is the guy who kinda tries to take over being Buffy's watcher in one series but fails, kinda kisses Cordelia, and goes off to work for Angel in his series in which he is sooooo much kewler :classic:

So are we assuming it is Spike and Drucilla or Harmony?

Well if it's Harmony and it's pretty, yeah I could totally see her not doing anything.

Though it's also likely Drusilla may have caught something that fancied her eye. The eras do seem to be mashed together a little bit as the two Englishmen (if they are Giles and Wesley) are behaving like season 3 or 4. And Dawn was a giant when she died (season 8).

Any night nobody dies is really just a lucky break for the town. Nobody dying is the outlier not the norm. I'm pretty sure we won't get that lucky again. We can hope that the roleblockers did a good job, I'm just not betting on that happening again. It's too dangerous to hope for that to happen again.
