DBZ Mafia Game Thread

Just getting the thread up and running for now. This will give people an opportunity to subscribe to the thread and such before I close it.

Descriptions and player list will be up in a moment, I have to run out for a bit.


Roles will be PMed to players throughout the afternoon. We will begin with an extremely short Day Phase at 5:00 PM CST (just for opening discussion purposes, and another opportunity to subscribe and such), and then we will begin the first night phase at 8:00 PM CST.


For now, you guys are free to discuss. And I could still use one more player, there's a bit of time left! I'm closing the signup thread now.

He knew long ago that he needed to eradicate the Saiyan race, for fear of their stupid legend coming true, but he never imagined that there was any truth to it. And sure enough, one of the few Saiyans that survived, ended up becoming a Super Saiyan.

Brilliant yellow light danced around Goku as he explained himself. "You're no longer capable of containing your energy. I've outlasted you in this fight. I told you when we started that your body couldn't handle all of that energy, and you didn't listen to me. Now you're drained, and you can't even follow my movements. You're done. It would be dishonorable for me to keep fighting you now. You're not even a challenge for me anymore. Face it, you gave it your best, and lost, to a being who is superior to you. And to make matters worse, he's just a monkey, right?" Goku flashed a grin at Frieza, knowing that he had just stabbed Frieza's psyche. Frieza gritted his teeth......


A couple of minutes later, Frieza had lost, and Goku had escaped the planet Namek, before it exploded. But after the explosion, Frieza's upper torso remained. King Cold's men picked him up, and began a long journey to Earth....

Meanwhile, someone else was quite aware of recent events on Earth. They were quite aware that the Namekian Dragonballs had been transferred to Earth. They were also quite aware that the Nameks now lived there. And they were aware of the coming storm. Well, by all means, why not give it a little push? Quickly, they gathered the Namekian Dragonballs, and made two wishes already. Immediately after their two wishes, they pulled the Dragonballs apart, and scattered them across the Earth once more. Nobody would know what had happened. Now it was time for them to sit back and watch it all happen.

However, what Trunks wasn't prepared for when he arrived, was for his mind to suddenly drift away from him. As he saw the people he was supposed to greet from the past.....he suddenly realized that he didn't remember who any of them were. And they seemed just as puzzled as to who each other were. This....this wasn't mentioned in the planet's history....but what could have done this?? Trunks suddenly didn't even remember that he was from the future, and he certainly couldn't remember that he had a time machine, much less where he parked it.

Goku's family and friends were there, and none of them knew anything anymore. But why? And how?

And why was there a dead cat on the ground? With a staff next to him? One person spoke up, realizing who it was.

Thawmus is dead. He was Korrinn, grower of Senzu Beans. And with no Senzu beans....well, that's a bad thing...


Day Zero begins now, and will end later this evening (change of plans).

yeah no one likes to either kill a townie since the odds are you are going to hit a townie at least 3 quarters of the time (different from game to game) or you can out some useful characters thus making a hit list for the mafia.

So I guess it's all based on what information everyone is willing to reveal to start and to being nobody wants to out themselves and get killed on night one. Of course the mafia also won't want to end up killing people who aren't suspeciting them or people who have useless powers so it's tough for them to. In other words night one is a waste for both parties.

Musta missed that. I have seen other episodes with Freiza, Future Trunks, Vegita, etc, but I really have very little sense of continuity from them.

I should clarify: Goku was at about 10 at the start of Dragon Ball in general. He surpassed 139 at some point when he was still a kid. If I remember, Raditz had him pegged at about 300, and Piccolo was at about 250 or something like that.

The crowd of people murmured amongst themselves. But no senseless blood was spilled this day.

An old man spoke up, and invited everyone to come and sleep at his house. He, of course, had a nosebleed at the thought of the women sleeping there.

A surprising amount of the group was capable of flight, and assisted the rest in arriving there. Everyone went to sleep, some inside the house, others on the beach.



The Night phase has begun. This thread will be locked until 10:30 PM CST tomorrow. If you have a night action, please send me a PM, regardless if you plan to use it or not.

The hero stood on a hilltop far away from the island, watching the stars. Sooner or later, he was bound to remember who everyone else was! And he needed to re-learn his old techniques, as well. The only one he was capable of remembering at the moment, was the one he had learned most recently.

Unfortunately, his re-learning was cut short, as a purple energy blast shot right through his heart.

Meanwhile, several people were following one another out in the wasteland again. One of them had the unfortunate fate of running across a frog with a strange device around its neck. No sooner had they noticed, when the frog suddenly screamed, "CHANGE NOW!!!"

Another of the group was a bit of a coward, but he valued his friends. He quickly changed shape into someone he was certain was an ally. He would be bait, all right. But this ended up being a terrible plan in the end. A large green man came running at him, death in his eyes. Before the little guy could react, he was suddenly burned to ash.

This would not be the last of the deaths this evening, however. A young Namekian boy slept soundly in his bed, never noticing the purple beam that shot out and stabbed him in the heart. Some sick laughter could be heard, and then..."Well, I guess you won't be in my way this time."

Magnito is dead. He was Goku, Earth's greatest fighter, and hero to all.

Vicious x is dead. He was Dende, a poor little Namekian boy who didn't get to do anything but die in his sleep.

Shadow40 is dead. He was Oolong, and he was the victim of a lot of bad luck.

And to top it all off, someone has suddenly gone missing.


I ask that if you are dead, that you not communicate about this game either in or out of this thread. Keep the theme of this game especially in mind, when considering whether or not two dead people can converse openly.

Wikipedia says that Dende later learned the power to heal. Theres a chance he would have developed into a doctor but at the time of his death, he seems to have done nothing as far as the game goes.

Purple energy blasts killing Goku and Dende could have been anybody, right?

Oolong's death seems to be at the hand of a Namekian right? Are we thinking Piccolo? Are there any other famous Namekians that might have killed Oolong?

And does anybody have any idea what the "CHANGE NOW!" frog is about? I feel so lost in this game. :(

I dont specifically recall anyones being purple apart from Frieza...but Ive only seen from the Freiza bit to the beginning of the Buu bit.

Change Now Frog is Captain Ginyuu who had the power to transfer bodies. And it sounds like Frieza killed Dende since Dende got in the way of him killing people before. Also I think Purple Death Beams were Frieza's trick.

I concur with the Captain Ginyuu assessment. Those of you who dealt with Malice, think along those lines. We have a missing player, likely stuck in the body of a frog, while Ginyuu is using their body. Its a neat trick, I suppose. I also agree that the method and quote from the killer of Dende make it sound like Frieza. Given Dende's healing powers, its a huge loss for the townies if our doctor just went down. No idea who killed Goku, though. Too many wildcards out there. I know Thawmus said we would encompass characters through the Frieza saga, so possible villains could be Raditz or Vegeta/Nappa, but Vegeta could also be a semi-good guy by this point, and Raditz and Nappa have the disadvantage of being dead. Also, if Ginyuu is here, the Mafia might consist of the Ginyuu force, who were Frieza's goon squad. As I think about it, Frieza and the Ginyuu force are likely candidates.

If I remember the series correctly Ginyuu's whole thing was he was fairly powerful in battle but waited till he was about to die and switched bodies to kill his opponent. Sounds to me kind of like a Misdirector or as you said he could just be done as a body jumping character which seems much more likely.

That's true. I was just thinking about that. Who does that leave to comprise the Mafia, then? Its gotta be more than Frieza and Ginyuu, I would think. There were 2 wishes made during the original opening write-up. Bring back 2 members of the Ginyuu force? That would make for up to a 4 person mafia. Might make sense.

We also have to eventually work on figuring out how to kill off Ginyuu without killing his current body and dooming someone to live out life as a frog...

Btw, I just want to get this straight. We think that Frieza killed Dende because it was a purple beam and this is what Frieza's attacks look like. Do we think Frieza is a serial killer? I don't recal Frieza really working with a bunch of people. Maybe Cell, but I could be making that up.

So if it's not Guldo the small green guy on the ginyu force then it either has to be Garlic jr who once he makes a wish from the dragon balls get's huge and King Slug who is a little bigger then piccolo and can also transform into a giant form.
