Outwit it. Preferably using C Batman.

Tharok and Batman team up for some shadowy Outwiting and punishment.

Okay... maybe I'm the only one to win with Tharok...

Well you running shot round it, or OoTS and blast em to heck and back! :D! Also, if you can Outwit abilities like PB and PW So you dont have to deal with 3-4 clicks straight through your defences. Amazo is seriously not that amazo'ing... (alright that was bad xD)... the way to deal with him is to have a Perplexer and PC'er hiding back while you have 1-2 RCE'ers and when he HSS out of range your running shot in having perplexed Speed or Range and get him while hes not expecting it... or did what i did and possess him, take out gypsy also pushing to do it, then running further away, then next turn he had to come just into range to HSS next turn and luckily i hit both times with GA and Merlyn for 8 clicks in total (I think)

There aren't AS many places to hide on the water map for week 5, so outwit is going to work well, especially with C Batman and Out of the Shadows. Stealth obviously helps alot, I had rare Supes the other week and was kicking butt (including taking down an Amazo/Gypsy team without too much work). Well, in the final round I lost the game and the bye to a Abra Kadabra/Tharok/C Batman due to his Stealth and double outwit. So it can be done, but I think outwit is definitely a crucial part of it.

Who knew Tharok was so good?

sit in a room with hindering terrain cover the access points with objects & say come & get me... but that will work for flashes only... fliers just outwit

Common Batman is going to be one of the best bets for dealing with the hypersonic speedsters. the other is to just simply blast them through their defense adjusters. the problem is, knowing how to beat them and actually pullling what you need is two different things. So much of it depends on what you pull and what you are facing. but I agree with the thought of object placement to bog down the grounded HSS pieces (the Flashes). I think outwit will be huge and stealth will be tough to deal with. I think someone else to coinsider is Icicle. With him, even if you don't happen to pull outwit you can really cause havoc on the hss pieces. I mean, uncommon Flash's 19 D with super senses doesn't matter when you can just copsicle him and bypass it. same goes for the likes of Amazo and Supes. Let them come up after you then copsicle them and push them, bypassing imperv.

the key will be not to overextend yourself and make them come to you and use all their movement or at least most of it to get there. then they can't just run away out of retaliation range.

But even with all of that in mind, I don't think it'll be a breeze by any stretch of the imagination in dealing with the hypersonic guys.

Here is a thread dedicated to the map:

As far as I can tell, there seems to be very little blocking terrain on the map, so the only place to "hide" is really in the middle of elevated terrain. If you do pull C Batman, make sure to place some objects on hindering terrain so he can use them for cover if he needs to Outwit from elevated.
Flash (the uncommon and to some extent the Super Rare, not the slave though) is probably the biggest problem for Batman as his huge move lets him move in from outside Outwit range and smack Batman... Fortunately a hit from Flash doesn't put Batman off Outwit immediately.

I don't think a lot of HSS was pulled at our venue Friday, but nonetheless, none of the four finalists chose to use their Starro Flashes in favor of their pulls and the other slaves.

As has been mentioned, the map alone provides a good defense against HSS. As far as what can be done proactively, give a lot of consideration to a Smoke Cloud piece like Starro Green Arrow; should be able to seal off a route, given all the water. And there's plenty of Barrier in the set, too.

God f*cking damnit!!! Stupid Batman! Only week i didnt pull him, everyone else did.... i got into the final round and got runner up, earning me £20 to spend in the shop, and a Giants collectors set. =[

If you can build a swarm team with some Outwit you can take out any HSS figures.

I had the Outwit - but lacked the swarm.
