Might I suggest Guitar God Mafia (as well as any of the others, including this one)? It's close to opening so you wouldn't have to wait long and it should be small enough that it won't overlap with other games.

(Again, not saying you shouldn't sign for this - I'm all for it (as long as I get HRG :) ) - but just saying if you're hooked, that one is "going live" in a few days so you can sate the jonesing. :) )

Probably december. In actuallyity, it could start whenever I had enough people, as I have all the roles written. BUt I want to be done with most of the other games I am in before it starts, so I'm looking for a much later date. Give people time to finish all of theirs.

*Hiro = Pretty snazzy guy who grew up on comics and does his best to be heroic as well. Gotta' give him props.

*Sylar = Scary evil villain who's a bit Norman Bates'ish but compelling enough because of that.

I think G4 (the best cable station on TV that shows Ninja Warrior) is showing repeats of Heroes now. See if your company carries it if you want to catch up. I know that Attack of the Show gave the 1st Season DVD set a bad review because it really didn't give you a lot more info like some collectors set out there.

Heroes isn't a teen angst show (though I'll freely admit it does have its share, it's by no means its heart).

Also, since you've never played before, I'd say that in your case the earlier you know your role, the more time you have to research what it does and its interactions with other roles. Preparation can help, but the main things that will help you survive are your judgment, your experience, and your luck. The first two can develop over time (if you don't already have the first), and the third (luck) has no master, so if you don't get the results you like first go-around, don't be afraid to play more games. It is actually possible to win your first Mafia game (I did, as the only one left standing!), but it's also possible to never win (like some of the regulars around here.)
