Suggestions needed.
Lots of them.
Price range...I dunno. I'm willing to spend up to $100. Doesn't really matter to me; I can save up.
And, no, I don't want a PS3.

I have heard that you can remove a chip from a DVD player and thus be able to play disks from all regions, but I don't know how this is done.

I replied to you in the Homo Dojo. The gist of it - buy Chinese and be prepared for some firmware workarounds.
There was a $40 unit that we used to buy at cosco that you could make region free pretty easily but i don't think they make it anymore...for that reason. I will ask some of the more..ahem gray people i know to see what i can do.

Apart from Sorny, most DVD players have software patches that can be found by googling the model nr.

If I'm not mistaken the PS2 is a Region-Free DVD player. Best part is, you can probably get one for cheap!
I'm almost 100% certain the old drawer-types are, not sure about the slims. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

Its not a region free dvd player but you can get a disc called Freeloader (or something) that will let it play any region dvd but you have to play that disc first before you can watch the movie. Some older versions of Gameshark also have this feature as well.

You know, I actually owned a Sorny alarm clock in Korea. I also had a "Janspark" backpack and a jersey from the Nagano "Orympics." Living upstairs from a cottage industry sweatshop meant that we got the absolute best in knockoff merchandise.
