Okay, here's thge deal:
I've convinced a friend of mine to come to this week's tournament. He's a big Hulk fan, and would like to play a Hulk team if possible, and I've agreed to bring a team for him.
This week's tournament uses my "reinforcements" scenario - part of your force is placed off the map and can be brought in when one of your starting figures is KOed. This time, both forces have to be 200 points.

My first thought was to make an "Avengers #1" team:
R IC Hulk 103
+ Protected 8
U AW Iron Man 89

R SN Thor 112
R SN Antman 48
SR Wasp 37

But thinking a little about it, I wonder if a Defenders team may not be a better idea:
E IC Hulk 117
Bucky 30
Yondu 53

E IC Dr Strange 71
V Valkyrie 71
Gargoyle 58

Any opinion what team is better? Any other suggestions?

I dunno....I like the defenders team a little better. Both are awesome teams though!! ;)

Personally I like the Defenders team better. For one you have more figures, nothing like having extra clix of life on the board. For two, I have never had any luck with U AW Iron Man. For some reason I can never get him off the ground.

Also, Yondu, Bucky, and Valkyrie are all really good for their respective point values. No offense to Thor who is also good for the points.

Yes, I too think the Defenders team is better from a game perspective. From a comic accuracy perspective it's a mess though: It contains characters from various different teams (AFAIK, Bucky and Yondu never worked together).
Another problem with the Defenders team is that I have another guy who sometimes comes to the venue who is a big Dr Strange fan - I had a Marvel Knights team prepared for him that used E IC Dr Strange. Since Strange obviously cannot be in two teams at once (I only have one figure...) I'll have to abandon the MK team. On the other hand, the guy is a big Legion fan as well, so I could probably convince him to play the Legion team I've prepared instead, should he show up. It's a pity I have to let Spiderman and Daredevil go back in the box though - big name figures are always a nice draw to attract new players.

But in the end it really comes down to one thing: I want my friend to have fun so he'll come back and play with us again. Odds are good he'll have more fun with the Defenders team, so I'll probably go with that.

In a couple weeks the Hulk possibilities will open considerably, which is something I'd emphasize, too.

I'm finding myself very curious about the 143 pt gray Hulk and am cringing in advance at that thought that most or all of what I'd want from it might, instead, be on the LEs dial and character card.

Same with me, I am very curious about the Gray Hulk. For some reason I don't see him as playable as the NGN version though, which will be a major downer during the PreRelease.

I've told him that already - I sent him a link as soon as Rampaging Hulk was released.

I'm hoping that he'll at least have the Avengers keyword and that he'll offer us something between Rampaging Hulk and an understandably toned-down version of Green Scar. Some move and attack powers aside from just a couple clicks of Charge - like Green Scar's Smash - and a little Regen to help keep him in the game. Perhaps taking a tip from what was done with Avengers Giant Man and Wonder Man recently the keywords will look ahead and even include Defenders, even if the Hulk was green and far more childlike by that point. Options! I want options!

That the LE has the Avengers TA on the base has me worried that the set piece will be him as more of a loner/monster and the LE might be where the team affiliation goodness will lie. That would be very disappointing.

I dunno I ilke the Avengers team but when M&M releases thats where all the Hulk goodness comes. I'd probally play Av Ultimate Hulk and vet Brock Sampson if I had with darkness

I REALLY like the R IC Hulk for 103pts. :)

This is a fun all Hulk team if you have the figs:

2099Hulk
Dr. Bruce Banner LE
R IC Hulk
Ult U Hulk

I don't have their pt totals in front of me, but all together without feats they are 500pts even.

They look kind kewl all together too.
