Not really. If people are interested, it lives. If not, it dies. It's the circle of life. Hakuna Matata and all that carp.

The good news is, 55% of the time you post on a thread it thrives!

Posting isn't a problem, but every time I start a thread it doesn't last more than 2 hours.

We probably shouldn't post here so the thread dies but I'm feeling sympathetic... ;)

(And if it's any consolation lngcntry, I can't get a thread to thrive either)

The thread shouldn't die, to prove us all wrong.

Well I am! And I can listen to your opinioon but that doesn't mean I have to agree even given examples and evidence that disagrees with my statement.

Therefore, Pete Wisdom deserved 11 attack.

How many times do I have to tell you? The language you speak may be very loosely based on English but you must stop deluding yourself.

I used to have this problem a long time ago. I think it's a variety of things, really.

First off, the user name can be a deterrent. For example, if someone sees that the last poster on something is, "Gacy's Clown", or "Superfro", or "Jackassterson", regardless of whether they know who these people are or not, they'll be intrigued enough to click on the thread.

A few things to avoid here are names that are completely in lower-case, or don't roll off the tongue. In the above three examples, there is no debate on how to pronounce those names.

Secondly, while I don't know if you are or not, it's best not to be random, if it isn't a random thread. Randomness can be funny sometimes, and create off-shoot discussions that further a thread's life, but in the hands of an unwieldy or inexperienced poster, it can just kill a thread.

Thirdly, don't short post. I make a habit of running my mouth, not because I have a lot to talk about, but because I want to ensure that everyone and anyone that comes across my post will find SOMETHING in there that they can either relate or respond to. Think of it as increasing your chances of saying something worthwhile. You can always retract things that weren't as worthwhile, later, if anyone brings it up.

Lastly, figure out what the community responds to. In other online communities, talking about the news and responding to everything with a debating tone will be received more openly. Here, saying something humorous or sarcastic will do the same. Also, it's best never to properly debate anyone on here. Far better results are attained by saying words like, "I see what you mean, but I think...." For an example, I COULD point out to you that your username is a direct violation of the first point in this post, and probably explains 99% of your problem. Instead, I posted several different solutions to your problem, and merely made the most obvious one included among others. That way I wouldn't be pointing it out to you bluntly, nor embarrass you, and you'd be more receptive to getting your name changed.

The other thing you could do is put a puppy up there for your avatar. ;)
