I have tried to get into Claypool, but aside from a couple of collaberations with buckethead and the south park and robot chicken themes he did, I am just having trouble digging his stuff. I am not real impress with pork flavored soda. If anyone has some reccomendations let me know.

He's a lot easier to appreciate if you're a player (or so I've been told). He auditioned to fill Cliff Burton's spot in Metallica, so try to imagine what And Justice for All would have sounded like with Les on bass. Probably his most approachable stuff would have to be his work with Primus, so if you can't get into that, odds are good that you're just not a fan. Which, you know, is cool. I've *never* been interested in the Sex Pistols and I don't let that hurt my punk rock cred.

I would recommend the following non-Primus Claypool stuff that I find quite appealing:
Les Claypool: Of Whales and Woe
Colonel Claypool's Fearless Flying Frog Brigade: Purple Onion
Colonel Claypool's Fearless Flying Frog Brigade: Live Frogs Set 1/Set2 (Set 2 is a full performance of the Pink Floyd album Animals):) :) :)
Oysterhead (w/ Stewart Copeland & Trey Anastasio): The Grand Pecking Order
As for Primus, my favorites are as follows:
Frizzle Fry
Sailing the Seas of Cheese
Miscellaneous Debris
Animals Should Not Try to Act Like People
I have found that many people are just flat out annoyed by this music, but I can't help but love it. Don't force it.
