I know I'm not Stan but I'm very much enjoying the albums I got in the mail today. :)

Years ago when I separated from my long-time college sweetheart/fiancee, she basically demolished the Beatles collection I had spent a good chunk of my life collecting. :ermm:

Slowly been rebuilding it and this morning I got in the original triple-LP albums of the "Concert for Bangladesh" complete with pretty much every pertinent autograph (yeah, I know I could've just gone the easy route and gotten non-autographed ones no problem but what's the point of that?)

Hard to believe that in the years since I obtained my first one of these that George went away. :(

I suspect some of the albums are the property of her and her husband (the guy she met a few months later). I'm not the type to argue or press the point. If it made her happy to get that vengeance on me, so be it.

But, yeah, albums (pretty much all of them and they all had at -least- one autograph and in most cases multiples or even all of the group...)...the old candy...posters...concert programs...a picture of my aunt (whom I had just lost) with John Lennon...etc.

I've never even tried to figure out the total - some of it irreplaceable like the photo - of what was lost that day as I admit it would probably reduce me to tears (and replacing it may be going faster due to being of different means than when I was younger but it's also been pricier).

Oh yeah, and she even encourages that hobby (she'd much rather see me being a Beatles' fanboy than a comic nerd. :laugh: ).

(In fairness to the ex, she was upset and lashing out which is why I say if it made her happy to do it, so be it. She had been great in many other ways. Just feel I should say that.)

At work they did a white elephant today. Stan got stuck with some fairly lame albums, from what my husband says. Look at Stans avatar. That's one of the albums. I think my husband's gift was worse though. He ended up with a dainty China tea cup and saucer with lovely flowers on it. He said he's going to use it in work for his coffee. HA! You've got to be pretty confident of your manhood to do something like that!

It was a blast. I wish I was feeling better. Maybe all the laughing wouldn't have given me a headache. Seriously, they shoudl never put him and I at the same table. It spells trouble. I made one of the women repeat the word "peanuts" like 5 times and we both giggled every time. Maybe it was the cold meds. Who knows. SOmeone got the clapper and I kept saying they got the clap. I think the only single guy there pulled a Kama Sutra book. :laugh: It was awesome.

Depending on taste, I agree, however, they're 78's. I haven't heard one played since the early 90's when my dad's was on it's last legs and I used to play the Star Wars Soundtrack because it wasn't released on CD yet. Oh and I have no way of playing them.

I was recently relistening to the old 13-part BBC production of LotR...and I remain amazed at how much injustice the recent films did to characters like TreeBeard, Faramir and Gimli. I'm also amazed at how well that production has held up over the years...I couldn't believe my ears when I heard William Nighy was Sam!
