DC Zombies Mafia - the Game Thread

Happy Holidays, everybody!! BRING YOUR DAUGHTER TO THE SLAUGHTER!!!

(Was it Mitch Hedberg who said that a severed foot is the ultimate stocking stuffer???)

First off, the basic rules for any of my Mafia games:

1. If you need to know how to play "Mafia", well, you can either look at the zillion threads that have cropped up on it or you can get the actual rules here: Mafia Scum (http://mafiascum.net/wiki/index.php?title=Newbie_Guide)

2. Remember that you may not PM anyone during the game unless your write-up - or something sent to you by the game moderator (that would be me) - says that you can do so. Doing otherwise is cheating and will lead to horrible things, like disembowelment and being fed screaming to Hungry Joe Quesada!!

3. You may not discuss this game - except in allowed PM's - outside of this thread; that includes "real life" conversation or casual mentioning of your role to a buddy.

4. Votes for lynching/eating someone must be bolded. In fact, use the words "Vote to EAT" instead of "Vote to Lynch", please!

5. Once you're dead, you need to not only refrain from discussing the game -at all- (this includes no PM's to former team members or chatting in other threads about it) but from posting on the game thread. This is considered cheating and will get you banned from any future mafia games that I run.

6. There is no editing of posts allowed in the thread. Yes, that means we can all point fun at each other's typos - even changing them is not allowed - but it's the standard rule and a good one so I'm sticking by it.

7. If you have to PM me an action, be sure to do so before the Day/Night Phase is up or I'll assume that you did nothing but sit on your zombie, decomposed read end. Simultaneously, if you're restricted or have a rule that adjusts your actions, be sure to follow it.

8. Hey, it's just a game. Have fun and remember at the end of the day we aren't actually accusing one another so don't take any "in game" comments to heart. We're all going to lie and be dirty backstabbing scoundrels in the game so don't hold it against anyone when they do it.

9. The game moderator reserves the right to change things at any time or make a game decision. You may be mod killed if you continue acting like a FOO' after being warned.

IT CAME FROM BEYOND SPACE, TIME, AND MAJOR SUMMER CROSSOVER EVENTS…

“In the beginning there was only one, a single black infinitude, so cold and dark for so very long that even the burning light was imperceptible… but the light grew and the infinitude shuddered… and the darkness finally screamed, as much in pain as in relief… for in that instant a Multiverse was born.

A Multiverse of worlds vibrating and replicating… and a Multiverse that should have been one, became many.”

That was then. This is the planet Earth-Z, July 1985. The red skies have started to appear on the horizon and electrical storms light up the night. There is a feeling of impending, inescapable doom everywhere one turns. The city streets are empty. The wind howls through them like a thousand lost souls. There is not a single human being in sight.

For the squirrel bit a cat, which bit a dog, which bit its master, who bit his wife, who bit their children… and the pandemic began all over again, as it had in so many dimensions. The Hunger reared its awful head and laughed uproariously. By the time the first meta-human was bitten, its hold over the world began in earnest. A ghastly feast was held the world over. Not even the mightiest of Earth’s champions were able to escape this horrible fate.

Somewhere, between realities…

The great wise man lowered his head and sighed soulfully.

“I don’t understand. I asked Lyla to send one of her selves to Earth-Z, in order to recruit heroes for the stand against my opponent’s forces,” he whispered. “ She hasn’t returned, and I have lost all contact with her…”

“Somethin’ happened to her,” opined the elder gentleman standing nearby. “Somethin’ bad. You knew it wasn’t right, ‘specially when that young feller with the sad eyes disappeared and yelled that he was bein’ drawn to another catastrophe.”

“Yes. That is so,” admitted the troubled wise man. “I think the enemy is attacking us on that front. I fear that we must split our group, travel to Earth-Z, and quell any attempt to flank our defenses.”

“Let’s take the war to them!” exclaimed the regal woman. “Show them to me! In the name of my dead husband and daughter, I will have my revenge.”

“No. There will be no revenge. Only justice. Justice for every single one of the Earths that we have already lost to the forces of darkness.”

Somewhere else, in orbit around Earth-Z’s moon…

“THIS IS NOT JUST ANOTHER WORLD TO BE CONSUMED,” stated the great fiend. “IT MUST BE DESTROYED UTTERLY. IT IS AN ABOMINATION UNTO THE VISION OF MY MIGHT!!!! GAZE UPON HE WHO WOULD HAVE BEEN ITS GREATEST HERO. TELL ME THAT ANY OF THESE… THINGS DESERVE TO BE SUFFERED TO EXIST!!”

The Kryptonian struggled in his bonds. He had been captured with greater ease than he has thought possible. Then again, his attention had been so focused on food, on finding warm, living flesh… his appetite was enormous. The planet had practically been picked cleaned, but so many others could be had: Rann, Thanagar, Korugar, Daxam, Mogo…. The list stretched on like the longest, most delectable menu ever… At first, he had been upset that his cousin had infected him with the hunger, but soon he had overcome his squeamishness and had begun to enjoy himself like a gourmand at an epicurean banquet.

“Dread Lord, allow me to dispose of this refuse,” said the man with the large eyes, smirking with anticipation. “I have just the thing…if I may?”

“IT’S A WASTE. DO WHAT YOU MUST. I CARE NOT.”

The last thing that went through the Kryptonian’s head as he tried once more to break free was a blade of pure kryptonite. His decaying, invulnerable flesh and cranium parted like butter under a hot knife. The blade made his grey matter into mincemeat. Caught up in a killing frenzy, the man with the large eyes sliced and diced – careful not to let the blood and chunks of gore splatter him. A maniacal laughter erupted from his lips.

The great fiend simply watched, wordlessly. His thoughts were elsewhere. He pondered what could become a serious setback in his plans. If this plague were to unleash itself upon the Multiverse, his anti-matter wave could be seriously affected. There was one way to make sure that nothing of this sort upset his plans. The infected abominations had to be utterly and completed wiped out. He didn’t mind doing the job himself, either. All he needed was a handful of his minions, that’s all, to deal with what eventually he’d be able to categorize as a past, minor inconvenience to his plans of destroying the Multiverse and rebuilding it in his own image.

CharlesX is dead. He was Hyper-Man of Earth Z, the Man of Infected Tomorrow, this dimension’s greatest hero until the all-consuming Hunger claimed him for its own.

Previously on Marvel Zombies mafia...

The man with the boomstick couldn't believe his luck!! Looks like all these Zombies had left was Jack and Sh_t. And Jack was about to leave town! With the doorway between dimensions finally fully functional (whew!), Ashley J. Williams jumped through the portal and was gone, baby, gone. Then again, that was what the King had hoped for. Hail to the King, baby!

There was a minor hitch to his hasty exit. Because the three words of power ("KLAATU! BARADA! NIK-HUH! COUGH! COUGH!") had not been said exactly right, one other small body was able to leap through the doorway, right behind the Ash-man. Its zombie rodent chittering sounded like tiny, mocking laughter. There was a bright flash. A mighty thunderclap. Spielberg and Lucas couldn't afford these kinds of special effects! Then everything on this side of the portal was left in dead silence. The curtain closed on Earth-2150 in the Marvel Universe.

And so continues the saga, now in the DCU, as our strapping, big-chinned kicker of deadite booty sallies forth into the world of...

Despite Ash's presence here I was a bit surprised to see my character until I remembered that Wildstorm is part of DC.

Maybe - though part of me refuses to hope that we got Ash that easily already :) - but that's my confusion. My running around all CH-CH-CH! AH-AH-AH! should bypass that protection as long as I placed the first or last vote. That's why I'm suspecting it's more just a case that Charles threw together the tally of everyone voting and didn't get back between "votes 15 and 20".

It started earlier than expected! The hunger was beginning to drive some of them insane. Happily, they had fallen upon the remains of Lady Quark's corpse and had tasted the gobbets of her charbroiled flesh. This had only whetted their gruesome appetites! Still licking their chops, the zombies turned on one who seemed... better preserved than some of the others.

The boy in the cape didn't realize that everyone was staring at him until it was too late. He had come to this Earth to prove himself as a hero. After all, as the last survivor of his universe, didn't fate hold a special role for him? Surely this was not to be it!

"W-Wait a minute," the lad stammered, holding up his hands. "I have been very quiet, yeah - but it's not what you th-think!"

"Of course not," came the reply from a decaying tongue. "You're not the appetizer... you're the main course!"

One of the zombies produced a ring set with a green, glowing stone. The boy in the cape gasped in pain and staggered to the ground. Like a pack of ravenous wolves, the zombies fell upon their prey and shredded it to pieces.

Klixkid777 is dead. He was Superboy Prime, Hero and Last Son of Earth Prime (Good/Independent/Serial Killer.) He had come to this dimension on his own, hoping to end the menace single-handedly. But when all was said and done, he had no hands left after all...

I am leaving the thread open for a while longer, for the heck of it!

An undead clown sat alone on his ruined throne, giggling to himself hysterically from time to time. Around him was filth, decay, old bones and well-chewed sneakers…

“I got one, fellas… hahahaha…. That was too good!!! Used a chicken to catch a chicken!!! Hee-hee-heeeee-ho-ho-HOHO!!!! Oh, Harley, if only you could’a been there to see the look on that sucker’s face!! HOLY MOTHER OF KING KONG!!!”

The laughter turned to shock as a huge fist crashed through a nearby window and grabbed the clown like a rag doll. A gigantic face looked through the opening, satisfied with his catch.

“All right, ya grinnin’ jackanapes!! Gotcha now!! Yer comin’ with me, son!!”

WHUMP!! Out of the shadows, a projectile was fired. It was a grappling hook, attached to a line. Before the clown could be taken by the giant, the harpoon-like device imbedded itself into the grinning face. Brain matter spattered on the wall as the hook destroyed the captive’s head. The huge hand jerked open, dropped the clown’s grisly remains, and was pulled out of the room. Thundering footsteps receded into the distance.

The curious thing was the clown had had a bomb strapped to himself, ready to blow up whenever someone decided to come after him. Instead, the device went off and made a noise very much like an electronic raspberry. The killing joke had had no punch line after all.

“Hrrrm. Funny.” A monotonal voice came from the shadows. The faceless man retrieved his grappling gun and left as quietly as he had arrived.

Ironically, another faceless man saw him leave. He let his quarry blend into the shadows, allowing him the confidence that he had gotten away with his foul deed. However, even on this demented world, crime was to be punished. Right was right, wrong was wrong. A was A.

The first faceless man had just enough time to think about how much he wanted bean juice for dinner. (Human bean juice. Ha. Ha.) Then, the other faceless man’s garrote was pulled taut around his throat. The wire decapitated him, but he didn’t really die until his head was stomped on and burst open like a ripe grapefruit. The second faceless man left satisfied, regretting only that he had ruined one of his good suits.

Elsewhere…

The man in the radiation suit felt like he was burning inside. He had kept his energies in check for longer than was safe. They needed to be unleashed – which was fine, because right about now he needed to get himself some revenge. Luckily, there were plenty of likely candidates. He spied one of them, the mystic man with the trench coat, as he walked into an abandoned bar. This was as good a choice as any. Fortunately for the man in the radiation suit, the mystic man was deep in preparation of an eldritch ritual. It was child’s play to sneak up on the trench coated one, remove his glove, and grab him by the shoulder. A loud explosion shook the bar to its very foundations. When the smoke and debris cleared somewhat, the man in the radiation suit was gone. Bits and pieces of what had been the mystic man were everywhere.

Yet elsewhere…

There was plenty of death to go around this night. This one was a yellow blur that you could barely see as it sped towards its intended target. He had seen one of these things before. It was not human, but it was vulnerable when a bright light shone upon it. At super speed, the yellow blur surrounded the dark figure with floodlights and then turned them all on at the same time. A great howl escaped from the target. The brilliance had frozen him in place. After immobilizing the dark figure, the yellow blur vibrated through it at a velocity beyond Mach 5. The thing that looked like a human silhouette exploded into a million shards and was utterly destroyed.

And yet elsewhere…

The man with the sharpened machete grinned to himself. This was going to be night one of many where he would do the best job that he knew how to do. They would never even see it coming! Unfortunately for the machete wielder, someone was waiting for him outside his cabin. No sooner had he set foot out the door, the man in red and black who was waiting for him removed his golden mask.

“Tsk, tsk! Look at you! No, much better – look at me!! You miss your mommy, don’t you? She is gone, and you feel so very, very SAD!!! You can’t get over how sad you feel, can you???”

The man with the machete suddenly felt so depressed that he forgot all about his nefarious scheme. Dejected, he halted, turned around, and walked back into the cabin. He crawled back into bed and sobbed, hugging his pillow. Someone looked through his bedroom window, saw him, and had to stop himself from laughing at how pathetic he looked.

And finally….

The butler was worried about his master’s young ward. He thought that it was perhaps best to get the lad to stay home this evening. After all, his master was about his work and had specifically stated that he didn’t need any extra help that evening. Just as he was making his way to the gun rack, looking for his shot gun, the butler yelped. Someone had spilled a bag full of marbles on the floor. The butler slipped and fell, knocking himself out. A smart aleck in green saw the whole thing, chuckled, patted himself on the back, and let himself out. But before he left, he raided the kitchen and stole a jar of peanut butter.

ABF is dead. He was the Joker, Undead Clown Prince of Crime – (Evil/Town/Mad Bomber)

St-Dumas is dead. He was Rorschach, Undead Faceless Scourge of the Underworld – (Evil/Town/Vigilante)

Majinmagog is dead. He was John Constantine, Undead Hellblazer (Evil/Town/Jailer)

Deathstroke1134 is dead. He was the Shadow Demon, Dread Minion of Anti-Matter (Evil/Mafia)

Looks like I have some things to explain.

Before the game started Charlesx asked me if I had any suggestions. I said I would love to see a batman mafia, with alfred as a doctor. And its true, I love seeing that he used them. But I had no way of knowing if he used my suggestion or not before hand. And the fact he mentioned Alfred and his shotgun was probably there just for me. Had it not made people look at me, I would be happy.
