The Kree were basically a serial killer team. They have no love for humans (who have interfered with their plans before), and they needed to kill everyone.

I actually hinted at this in the first paragraph of the Day 1 write-up:

News about “Elektra” and “Black Bolt” spread quickly through the superhero community. How did the Skrulls fool Iron Man’s sensors, Professor X’s telepathy, Dr. Strange’s spells, Wolverine’s enhanced sense of smell, and Spider-Man’s Spider Sense?

When I wrote that, I was worried that I was giving too much away, that it was too obvious a hint.

As things turned out, I'd have to say that it probably wasn't too obvious. ;)

Of course we Skrulls were too dim to catch that and spent the first few nights killing off all the people who would actually have confirmed us. Arggh

No, we had to kill everybody. I was trying strategize how to get rid of enough townies so that the bad guys could start lynching openly, then play people off each other.

It was pretty hopeless. I didn't know we were down to one Skrull (I thought there was two) and I hoped for two townie kills last night-- instead, none!

I'm not sure there was a Night that someone checking on me would have seen me as a member of Kl'rt's little group - I got recruited one Night and by the end of the following Day Phase he was dead.

Still, I'm fairly certain it amused the Skrulls to no end to see half of the Investigators focus multiple Nights on ol' Hornhead. :laugh:

Good game, especially to Ignatz who's no longer a Rookie after this one. :)

What a satisfying ending! Even though I died, it was completely fitting.

I had lots of fun playing up my roleclaim early, and vouching for Carlos, and then playing as if betrayed. Also, his supposed first night kill of a skrull was actually me! I had him defend a couple other players to give us some credibility, but not only did that not end up showing up, he got blown up (and revealed!) mid game, and I had to change tactics. da-Criag-o was on the right track after I shot at him, but we were so thick with suspected Skrull suspects that passed. And I played up the "Carlos is Back" thing to at least buy another day or two.

This has been the most fun Mafia I've been in yet... thanks all!

Dude, you had me completely convinced you were a Skrull. You acted soooooooo guilty and mangled enough of the facts that were supposed to clear you!

I was very excited when you died, becuase between you and da-Craig-o (who I had attempted to kill, but failed) I had no idea how I would be able to whittle the town down far enough to win. It was in that despair that I posted my "We're going to win!" happy fun post, figuring at least I'd look like a townie!

yeah, I tried my best to save the torch by exaggerating his powers, but he was a good guy and everyone wanted him lynched :( but I believed that you over thought your role, by "focusing" on carlos, not telling us your night power, and your early "quick" lynch votes, you made yourself suspicious thats why you never really left my shady list :p

its funny even though you weren't trying to help the town you did us a big favor by killing a skrull at the end :)

Been around. I slowly weened myself off by not signing up for games that were taking place or starting during early to mid December. Then I got killed in the one that started up a couple days before new years. Still couldn't believe the level of bad luck that night was. You'll be seeing me in more as the new year starts to get into the swing of thing.

So right now I'm actually mafia free...pretty astounding considering I've been in at least one consistently since the first. Well maybe not. I think I had about a three to four day break when I got killed in 3 or 4 in a 2 day period.

My strategy was: Skrulls by day, townies by night.

And I had cooked up a power-claim, but it was very shaky. Originally, it was going to be a day power that only worked when I was the last monarch in the game, but then Panther and Namor bit it quick and I had to go vague. I probably did the best I could.

As far as quick lynch votes-- that's the way I have played all my games so far. Perhaps I ouught to cool it down.

But once Carlos was revealed and I didn't have a reasonable power-claim, I don't think I was ever getting off the shady list-- just staying away from the bottom of it.

That was one of the luckiest turns for the Kree and Skrulls... we got rid of a PGO/bomb *and* Super-Skrull all at once. I had a feeling he *was* the Torch by the time the lynch came around, but this was not a bad thing if he was a PGO.

Yeah but by saying, "Yes, he's a PGO" and then him saying, "I'm not a PGO" (and PGO is a common way to try and dissuade people from Night Targeting you) it created a shady situation.

Did you target webhead that final night? I was so sure you weren't Ronin after I had misdirected you once with no write-up mention that I targetted you again. It ended up killing Badu for no reason, but still fun.

Ignatz - Yeah, I had you on a very short list of Kree suspects. I figured it made too much sense that the Kree would take the place of their 'creations' anyway. I like that after two kill attempts failed on me I could pretend that I was immune to night kills. I was hoping that it would keep people from attacking me at night when I was only lucky. :)

It worked... I didn't know for sure, but wasn't willing to risk it (and show further evidence against myself in a writeup). It cost Spider-Man his life, though!

Once Carlos was killed, I have no idea how I could have gotten off *any* suspect list. That was really a bummer for me. Further, the write-up showed not only my kill attempt on you, but IDed me as Kree. My time was limited after that.

My guess is that Ronin made use of She-Hulks "Immunity to misdirection/roleblocking" ability when he killed Biz. I freaked out a little bit when you said that there was no way that Deathstroke could be Ronin, cause you misdirected him and he still killed Biz. It actually made me think at the time, that Namor was immune to misdirection or something.

Well the misdirect definitely worked last night...almost to disasterous results.

I got so lucky in this game. Helping lynch Torch and getting Super Skrull too, avoiding two kills and then misdirecting our vigilante and not having him kill an important townie.

He sent in targets early in the game--I believe that he protected pbdeberry (Black Panther). But as the game went on, I stopped getting pms from him.

I've had that misdirection result in my games before, too. I did the same thing. Laugh for several minutes about it, then proceed with the write-up. Good stuff.

You have uploaded your consciousness into a robot body, one that looks exactly the same as the hero, Machine Man. By posing as Machine Man, you have infiltrated this gathering of heroes in order to strike at the Fantastic Four.

However, your plans were interrupted by the Skrull attack (see the Introductory write-up when the game thread opens). You quickly realized that it would be a bad thing if the Skrulls conquered Earth.

Consequently, for now you have decided to side with the Heroes in an alliance of convenience against the Skrulls. Of course, due to your previous encounters with the Fantastic Four and other heroes, you have decided not to tell them who you really are.

You are not a Hero, but having thrown your lot in with them for now, you win when all threats to the Heroes have been eliminated.

Post-Hypnotic Suggestion: During the so-called superhero “Civil War,” you teamed up with the Puppet Master to manipulate certain events. This proved to be quite a learning experience, allowing you to refine and strengthen your own techniques for mind control.

During a night phase, you may pm me with the names of two players. You will implant a post-hypnotic suggestion in the mind of the first player, causing him to target the second player that night. You may use this power three times during the game.

Android Body: Transferring your consciousness into a robot body is a trick you’ve used many times. If you are sent to the Negative Zone (i.e., lynched), you have a 50% chance of escaping your fate by transferring your consciousness into H.E.R.B.I.E. Doing so will end the day phase without a lynch.

Ronin had planned to confront another that night, but the kid made sense. So he changed his plans and kicked down the door to the Mad Thinker’s room.

“I suppose the concept of knocking is beyond the grasp of your Neanderthal mind,” observed the Mad Thinker. “Don’t you heroes understand that, without my genius, you have no chance against the Skrulls?”

“Stuff it, we don’t need your ‘help.’”

“How many times do I need to explain this to you? I have no desire to live as a Skrull slave. A temporarily alliance is in my best interest.”

“I’m not here about that,” said Clint. “I’m here because you killed Reed Richards. You teleported that bomb into his lab. The Skrulls wouldn’t bring in a bomb when they’ve already got a squad here, and the Chameleon isn’t smart enough to pull something like that off. But you hated Reed, you’re smart enough to build a teleporter, and you’re not even really here—you’re just hiding in one of your android bodies. It had to be you.”

The Mad Thinker fell silent and then smirked. “And it took you nine days to figure that out.”

Furious, Clint hurled a half dozen throwing stars. All of them struck the Mad Thinker squarely in the chest, but to no effect.

“You really are a fool,” said the Mad Thinker, as his android body’s elongated arms reached out. Quickly, they wrapped themselves around Clint’s neck, strangling him.

Clint knew that he couldn’t break the Mad Thinker’s hold, so he gambled on one final strike. Summoning all his strength, he plunged his sword into the Mad Thinker’s eye, pressing the blade as hard as he could. As his world slowly went black at the edges, Clint could see sparks flying, and the Mad Thinker’s android body thrashing about wildly. He thought of Bobbi and his friends as his world grew darker.

Then after what felt like an eternity, the Mad Thinker’s arms fell from his neck. Clint fell to the ground, gasping for air. As he got up, he could see the Mad Thinker’s android body lying inert, with a sword through its central processing unit.
