View Full Version : HCRealms Mafia; No Man's Land Mafia Game Thread
Before we begin, let's recap the rules (paraphrased from Peers' many wonderful games):
Things to remember:
1) A full writeup of the rules can be found here (http://www.mafiascum.net/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page) This game will be more complicated than what's described there, as nearly everyone has some sort of 'special thing' about them. Doesn't mean everyone has a night power, but you never know...
2) When you vote, please do so by saying Vote: [Player] in bold. If you wish to change your vote, please say Change Vote: [Player] instead. Voting for 'Nobody' is a valid vote; if a majority votes for 'nobody' then nobody will be lynched and we'll move on to the Night phase.
3) If your role says you -may- PM me a target, you don't have to do anything at night. Even so, it'll speed things along quite a bit if you'd still just send me a PM saying "Not using my [whatever] power tonight, thanks."
4) If your role says you -must- PM me a target, and you do not? I'll pick one randomly. Or, perhaps, not-so-randomly. Don't blame me if you target someone who kills you.
5) You may NOT send a PM to anyone about this game unless your role explicitly says you can. This is cheating.
6) Do NOT edit your posts in this thread. This is cheating.
7) Please do not copy-and-paste anything from any PM I send you to the thread. This is also cheating.
8) Please do not post in this thread after you are killed. This, too, is cheating and can ruin the game if done wrong.
9) Cheaters don't get to play in any other Mafia games I run. Period.
10) Remember, it's just a game. You will get paranoid, you will be stabbed in the back by someone, you will see somebody do or say something stupid and want to smack them. Just breathe deep and relax. If things get out of hand, we do have a mod playing who will forcibly remind you to chill out if needed. It hasn't happened yet, and I'd like to keep it that way.

NEW RULES
12) Each day the mob will go into a different area of No Man's Land (randomly chosen). You'll see the tag of the controlling member, and various things might happen depending on who's turf you are in. So beware.
13) No Man's Land is cut off from the rest of the world, and rescources are scarce. Most of you start off with an item. The mod will hold auctions at the start of each night phase. You can put your item(s) as bids for the item at auction,
or
you can sometimes put up yourself as a bid, to preform a duty for someone.
AND MOD NOTE:
With over 30 players, and as the good guys had to be the minority, some villains, who may not have been featured in the actual story might have been added into this game. And I take the liberty of not following the storyline word for word, and hopefully this will keep you guessing.
Day 93
The USA has declared Gotham City..
A No Man's Land. No longer apart of the country. No one is allowed in, and those who didn't evacuate are not allowed out.
The city has been divided up into different gangs. At the start there were several small gangs, but they have been gobbled up by a few larger ones.
I'm running out of resources, everyone is. I fear the worst, that Gotham City will be a place or anarchy with no hope.
I record these words on pencil and paper, not knowing my own fate. Some know me as Oracle, but my father named me Barbara Gordon.

Last week's episode of "The Batman", actually (and, yes, I know it's not as good as B:TAS but the show has its' own merits which do get overlooked because of the comparison).
It was Hal vs. Sinestro but when Hal sends the ring to find Bruce as an emergency measure - yep, we briefly get "In Darkest Knight" Batman, kinda' - Penguin briefly gets his hands (flippers?) on it.

Night 1 Is Over!!
It was getting cold in No Man's Land. It was always cold without heat but this wintery weather did not help.
Wait, wintery weather? In May?
He suddenly stopped moving, as his feet were completely encased in ice. But that didn't stop there, all in ice.
Several people would try to do various things against this person, but there's not much you can do against a block of ice.

She tred through Robinson's Park... what a fool, no one should go into Robinson's Park alone at night.
Vines quickly wrapped around here, and pulled her into the overgrown woods.

He walked alone through the streets, fearless, everyone knew who he was and no one wanted to get in his way.
Tonight he marked one person for death, and he was one of the few people with a real weapon.
Then he caught a glimpse of her, she was new, not only to No Man's Land, but to the costume.
She moved from roof to roof, and he watched her.
She stopped finally, maybe she had found her target. He took this time to climp up the building she was on.
He had finally reached her, but he didn't realize how good she was. Nearly instantly she was attacking him with a flurry of attacks. She was better than him, and he now knew that she stopped to confront him.
She quickly pinned him, but hadn't disarmed him. "You'll have to kill me," he said with no emotion.
She said nothing. But she wouldn't kill him. "You have to kill me, because I won't stop" he said as he managed to get his wrist free and slide his knife inside her ribs.
She died alone on that roof. Violence was the only language she knew.

Elsewhere, one man had lost so much in No Man's Land. He had started off so strong, but his gang had deserted him, now he was hardly able to keep himself safe now adays.
And he had hear rumors. And seen the tags. Was that bat back?
He leaned against the wall, nervous, anxious..
Two hands burst through the wall, and quickly knocked him out.
He left a tag, a yellow bat, the message was clear.

We have precedent for allowing players to decide whether or not they want to accept offers from people. It doesn't happen in every game, but it does happen.

That's reversed - Huntress was the original Batgirl when NML went into effect, Cassie took over for her after the Bat got on Helena's case for "screwing up".

Well, I know Doomsie wasn't affected by Ivy last Night so it's not that.

But well, if you're the Joker, that doesn't convince me that you're necessarily town. You could be an independent--it's not like the Joker plays nice with others, and we've all seen what happens to people who trust the Joker in the comics. I recall also that in the Arkham game, Joker was a serial killer, so it could be quite possible that while you're not with the Bat, you're also not with us.
Between MSU's investigation and the unpredictability of the character you're claiming to be, I'm going to leave my vote where it is.

Doombot is right though - Joker doesn't mean "with the town" - the Joker does his own thing. He could be in a mafia of his own. Although we haven't seen the clown prince of crime in any write ups.
Okay, I see why you may not trust the Joker, but I am a townie, in this case. My goal is to win with you guys.

I actually suspect from the write-up that Zsasz is a PGO; it mentioned that no one wants to mess with him. It also appears that Batgirl targeted him first and, well, she spilled her guts. :)

Not if there is a GCPD Mafia. Seems likely. Especially seeing as what territory we are in today.
If I am a paranoid cop and Mags is telling the truth about not being in a mafia and being Joker, then DocDoom is the one we need to put pressure on since he came up as "town".
