View Full Version : Disney the Third - Digital Domain Mafia Thread
This game begins on December 29th/30th!
Before we begin, let's recap the rules (paraphrased from Peers' many wonderful games):
Things to remember:
1) A full writeup of the rules can be found here (http://www.mafiascum.net/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page) This game will be more complicated than what's described there, as nearly everyone has some sort of 'special thing' about them. Doesn't mean everyone has a night power, but you never know...
2) When you vote, please do so by saying Vote: [Player] in bold. If you wish to change your vote, please say Change Vote: [Player] instead. Voting for 'Nobody' is a valid vote; if a majority votes for 'nobody' then nobody will be lynched and we'll move on to the Night phase.
3) If your role says you -may- PM me a target, you don't have to do anything at night. Even so, it'll speed things along quite a bit if you'd still just send me a PM saying "Not using my [whatever] power tonight, thanks."
4) If your role says you -must- PM me a target, and you do not? I'll pick one randomly. Or, perhaps, not-so-randomly. Don't blame me if you target someone who kills you.
5) You may NOT send a PM to anyone about this game unless your role explicitly says you can. This is cheating.
6) Do NOT edit your posts in this thread. This is cheating.
7) Please do not copy-and-paste anything from any PM I send you to the thread. This is also cheating.
8) Please do not post in this thread after you are killed. This, too, is cheating and can ruin the game if done wrong.
9) Cheaters don't get to play in any other Mafia games I run. Period.
10) Remember, it's just a game. You will get paranoid, you will be stabbed in the back by someone, you will see somebody do or say something stupid and want to smack them. Just breathe deep and relax. If things get out of hand, we do have a mod playing who will forcibly remind you to chill out if needed. It hasn't happened yet, and I'd like to keep it that way.

READ THIS NOW!!!!
A) At the beginning of every day phase, an object will appear. Along with the object will be a trivia question. The first person who PMs me with the correct answer gets the object and the power it possesses. All objects are one time uses and can be used at ANY TIME during the game. You can hold onto it or use it immediately (if the object allows you to do that). But beware - one object is a bomb and will delete your character from existance. You have to factor in the costs and risks....do you risk great power that could change the game?
B) It is very important that you DO NOT DISCUSS THIS THREAD WITH ANYONE ONCE YOU ARE DEAD! Dead is not always dead in the Digital Domain.

Initial write up!
“You are cordially invited to a Beach Ball at the Typhoon Lagoon, the most tropical paradise in the Digital Domain,” read the invitation, “You presence is required so you can get what is yours.”
Marlin the Clownfish read the invitation again. “Required?” he muttered to himself as he swam through the ocean to the tropical paradise, “What does that mean?”
He broke through the surface and saw a group of animals, toys, robots, monsters, humans, and more gathered on the beach, all holding the same invitation.
Marlin was about to ask one of the characters closest to him on the beach a question when a booming voice came out of no where.
“Well, well, well…what do we have here? Look at the heroes….oh I’m really scared!”
“Looks like they all came, just like you said,” an accented voice smirked.
“And look at all the toys we can play with,” yet another voice said.
“I want to hear them all scream,” a fourth voice hissed.
“Welcome to the Typhoon Lagoon. The most tropical of paradises anywhere. Just disgusting,” the first booming voice laughed.
“Nice trick, but we’ve stopped you before and we can stop you again!” one of the characters from the crowd yelled out.
The crowd cheered in unison.
“Oh yes, you could stop us…if you remembered. Now!” the first booming voice commanded.
Marlin saw a bright blue light come out of the crowd and begin to envelop the characters within the light.
“Who are you?” asked one character.
“I don’t know who you are!” another character said.
“What a pretty light!” another character said in awe.
The crowd began to back away from each other in confusion as the light spread throughout the beach.
Marlin dove under water as the light approached and watched in horror of the light crept closer. Luckily, it did not penetrate the surface and the light disappeared.
Marlin broke through the surface and swam to the nearest character. “How can you not remember who these people are?” he said to the first character he saw, “They are your friends, they are….”
A man flew over to Marlin and stared at him. “Looks like we got a stray,” he grinned, “And we are all out of power for the thought stealing machine.”
Before Marlin could react, a blue beam shot out from the man’s wrist and struck Marlin. Instead of forgetting everything, Marlin just couldn’t move.
The owner of the booming voice waddled through the befuddled crowd over to Marlin and stared at him as bugs crept out of his mouth.
“Who are you?” Marlin whispered in terror.
The creature took out a set of dice and rolled them on the beach. A 1 and a 3 showed.
“Looks like it's my lucky night!" the creature laughed, "As I once said to Sandy Claws, I’m mister Oogie Boogie and you ain’t going NO WHERE!”
Marlin tried to close his eyes as the hands of the Boogie Man enveloped him and began to squeeze. And then there was nothing.

This thread will open for the first day phase on December 29/30.
With 36 people (good lord) you need 19 people for a majority!

A majority has been reached!
The confused digital citizens looked around at each other in utter confusion. No one remembered who anyone else was. So why take chances? The characters decided that until more evidence could be found on the culprits, it was safer to just go to bed.
But strangely enough, not everyone went to bed. Some of the characters still had their memories. As the players went into make shift tents on the beaches of Typhoon Lagoon, other characters began to meet in secret and hatch their evil plans.

No one has been lynched today.
The night phase begins now! You have until 6:30 pm EST on Sunday to get me your night actions. If you do not get them to me, I will either choose for you or you will get no action!
I am missing WAY too many PMs here - if you got a PM from me, that means I do not have your actions for the evening. Send them in RIGHT AWAY OR THEY WILL BE RANDOMIZED!
Night 1 Write Up
As night fell over the Typhoon Lagoon, the confused characters ran around, trying to make sense of what had happened earlier. Once familiar faces were now strangers, allies were suspicious of one another, and evil ran amok to take advantage of the situation.

A small man walked around the beach with a steaming bowl of pasta. His apron was stained with red. “Come out, come out where ever you are!” he called in a thick accent, “I have some nice tortellini for you to try.”
He looked down to the ground and saw 4 foot prints leading off the back. He looked around but could not find who he was looking for. “Rats!” he snarled, “it is wasted!” and he threw the bowl of pasta on the ground.
Another small man came to the same area with his wrist gun out. He looked around and saw the foot prints on the ground but could not see his target. He glared at the footprints and walked away.
A girl appeared out of no where in the same area. She looked around and only saw the set of 4 foot prints leading off the beach. She shrugged her shoulders and disappeared into the night.
A red car drove around the same area. The car circled around the footprints and then drove off.

A small figure with a gun crept around the tents looking for his target. He saw a small boy running around the camp very fast. The boy ran for a small figure in armor and ran around the figure several times, giggling to himself.
The small figure with the gun aimed at the small boy and fired, but the armored figure swayed and brought up his shield in front of the boy in a haphazard way. The ray bounced off the shield and hit the tree, turning it into dust. The small figure glared and crept back into the woods. The armored figure sat down to regain his balance while the small boy sped away back to his tent, not realizing how close he had come to death.
A small figure with big glasses watched the boy. He looked in the sky and then looked back at the figure and scratched the top of head, trying to make sense of it.
A small blue fish also watched the boy from the ocean side and went back into the ocean. She repeated to herself what she had saw and swam beneath the surface. She never noticed the figure in the dark who kept his blinking lights on her the entire time.

Mr. Incredible looked around, searching for his family. He knew he had a family, he just didn’t know who they were. Or how many of them there were. He walked to the ocean to clear his head. He heard a sound behind him and a giant mechanical robot crashed through the trees. The robot grabbed him and threw him into the air. Mr. Incredible flew through the trees and landed in a sand dune. He shook the sand off and saw the giant robot coming for him. He ran up against it and grabbed the leg but the robot switched tactics and moved to the left, bringing pressure to the right leg.
Suddenly a machine appeared out of now where. "Mr. Incredible, get in now!" a boy with dark hair extended his hand to Mr. Incredible.
"Not now kid...I got to take care of this.." the robot swiveled and reached for the machine, but the boy manuevered out of the way.
"You don't have a choice," the boy rammed into Mr. Incredible and brought him inside. The machine vanished.
The robot swiveled its head looking for the target, but could not see him anywhere.

No one died during the night phase.

Dorey! Dorey is one of my all time favorites!
Surprisingly little death for a first night. Odd.

Here's what we have. A lot of people following the foot prints. A Chef, a man with a wrist gun (Buzz?), Violet and Lightning.
Someone with a laser gun tried to kill Dash, but he was protected by someone in armor. Dori saw this happen.
Syndrome's robot killed Incredible.
Sound right?

I've seen all of them except Rattatouille and Chicken Little.
Nightmare Before Christmas is also here, Bugs probably too.
I haven't seen Cars or Rattatouille

I didnt even realize it was Pixar till I looked up the films to find out about them and to figure out my character

To be honest, it was pretty good for a disney movie. It really looked like they wanted it to be "Adult Friendly" and "Kid Friendly" at the same time.

Yeah, I can see that - and I despite actual rattatouille :) - but the whole "Passion for Cooking"-shtick convinced me to try it. It's as much about a man trying to find his "cooking heritage" (actually, his heritage, period) in the midst of a "once great Parisian restaurant" as it is about the rat who wants to cook.

Well, we know there's Oogie Boogie and Syndrome and likely Skinner (we know he's here - one of the people that seemed to target me - but as he wasn't in the Prologue Write-Up with the rest of the Mafia, I'm not sure if he's one of them or Neutral-Antagonist).

Oh and I was a little mistaken Woody Allen was in Antz which came out teh same time as Bugs Life and had a similar plot (evil bug unlikley hero blah blah blah) But Dave Foley was in it along with Kevin Spacey as the bad guy. I knew Antz more because oif having to watch it on a bus trip

If you're in this situation again, I suggest just asking for Doctor protection rather than outright roleclaiming. It's close to the same thing without completely giving the store away on Day 2.

A-yup...or at least in a way. The beams they used on living beings - you know, being this was a kid's film :) - just teleported the victim to stasis captivity though it appeared to onlookers as if a disintegration had happened.
They were less concerned about collateral damage though.
Um. its possible someone could be a character from the shorts like Chubchubs or the Jackalope. Just saying.

Why wouldn't a Pixar movie about superheroes be overrepresented in a game where most, if not all, of the players are comic book fans? :p
Moreover, Disney 1 and 2 both had a massive potential character pool, based on 60 or 70 years of Disney movies. While Pixar doesn't lack for characters, the pool of potential characters is undoubtedly smaller, which makes it more likely for a particular movie to be relatively overrepresented.

Because I (and other people) thought the car watching Dorey was bad. Which means he bad guys know I'm Dorey.
I'm also described in the writeup as "watching" somebody, which means they know I'm an information gatherer.
If I was mafia, I would love to know who an information gatherer is that the town doesn't. If I was that car that looked at Dorey, I'd suggest that the mafia make a hit on Dorey to get rid of an information gatherer.

As I'm going to be gone as well, I'll reveal my thoughts on Robo-Onion.
Robo is most likely Kirby, the lost alien child from "Chicken Little". While nominally cute and cuddly, well, the write-up -does- show a -small- individual using a disintegrator and it's not unlike MSU to put a wicked twist on a character (the Disney Princess Mafia anyone?)
Still, I haven't voted for him purely because I want to give him a chance to voice a defense. I don't take advantage of absences if it's avoidable. :)

The digital mob looked at each other, revealing bits and pieces of their identities. Some of the mob members smirked while taking all this information in. In the end, a decision could not be reached by the mob. They went back into their tents for the evening and hoped things would be clearer in the morning.
Of course, some of them would not live past this night to see morning.

Night write up!
The air was very still during the evening. With no breeze, the only sound coming from Typhoon Lagoon was the ocean lapping at the shore. And the screams from the visitors on the beach.

Mr. Potato Head peered over a leaf and watched the cowboy, not being realized he was being watched by a single eye. When the eye had seen enough, he turned away and walked back into the woods.
Mr. Potato Head turned around to his bag to get out some spare parts when he found himself immersed in darkness. He felt around and found himself in a burlap sack. He heard a voice snicker, “We got the right one for sure!”

The speedy boy saw a kid wearing a black t-shirt with a skull on it standing in the woods with a remote control. He smirked as he ran around and stole the controller from the kid.
“Give that back, you little brat….” the kid in the black tee sneered while the speedy boy ran around, turning the controller left and right. The boy stopped and held out the control. As the kid reached for it, the speedy boy took it away. “Hey!” the kid in the black tee glared as the speedy boy giggled and ran around the kid. The speedy boy turned from the kid and ran up the beach twisting and turning the remote control, the kid in the black tee-shirt running after him. He turned his head around and looked at the kid in the black tee falling farther and farther behind. He looked ahead and ran right into a large metal object. He shook his head and looked up and saw himself staring at the giant robot. The robot turned its head and looked at the speedy boy. An arm reached for him. The speedy boy quickly ran the opposite direction as the robot began pursuit.
The speedy boy looked behind him as the robot kept up with him on the island. The speedy boy looked down and slipped on some sea weed that had washed up on shore and fell into the sand head first.
The speedy boy dropped the remote control and looked behind him as the robot came closer. He got back up to try and run but he had hurt his leg in the fall. He began limping away when the robot suddenly fell to the ground.
“Run now!” a voice said.
The speedy boy looked around and saw no one but heeded the advice and limped as fast as he could away from the robot.
The voice looked at the contraption he had constructed out of sea weed, twigs, leaves, and some berries. It was lodged in the robot’s leg which had prevented it from chasing the speedy boy. He had sent it flying from the sand dune and had hit the robot in the perfect spot. The robot was still picking it out of his leg to get it moving again. The voice crawled away before the robot could give chase.
The kid in the black tee ran up and grabbed the remote controller that was in the sand and saw the robot walk away. “Now that is a great toy,” the kid smirked.

Oogie Boogie picked up his dice and chucked them on the table. As the dice bounced around, he grinned. His victim would be feeling the wrath of the boogie monster tonight. He heard some noise outside and narrowed his eyes. “Who dares disturb me?” he bellowed and threw open the door to his lair. A burlap bag was on his stoop with several pairs of footprints in the sand around his door. He opened the bag and saw Mr. Potato Head at the bottom of the bag.
“Why search for food when it comes right to you?” Oogie Boogie laughed maniacally.
“No, please…I have a wife and spuds!” Mr. Potato Head pleaded as Oogie Boogie rolled his dice on the ground. It turned up an 8. Oogie laughed again “It’s just not your lucky night!” and he brought Mr. Potato Head inside.
While Mr. Potato Head’s screams could be heard if you were near Oogie’s lair, the smell of fresh french fries could be smelled from anywhere on the island.
