If you are a fan of the Dexter books or the Showtime series, I cannot stress enough how you should skip the 3rd installment of the book series - Dexter in the Dark.

I won't spoil anything here, but the Wikipedia Writeup (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dexter_in_the_Dark)covers it pretty well.

Sufice to say, it's an almost complete departure from everything that makes Dexter good.

Wow, that sounds really awful. It definitely sounds like something that was rushed out to go along with the new series. I guess if I get around to reading the Dexter books, I'll know which one to skip.

It's out in hardcover only so far. I know someone who's read it, but I won't even try until they put it out in softcover. The series and books have veered away from each other virtually from the beginning so I'll probably not avoid it.

Finished it.. it sucked. (To put it succinctly.)

IMO, the book veered too far away from what makes Dexter an interesting character.

Oh well. Just toss it in the pile of terrible books I've read recently.

I finished the first one last week. When I get some money, I will pick up the second one. Dexter is pretty funny although most of his insights are morbid. I just have a broad sense of humor. Tv series is as faithful as it can be for a time crunched hour an episode.

I hate to say this but I have to agree with AZS. Jeff really took a strange path with book 3 and I don't have high hopes for book 4 either.

I read half of the second in one sitting and a little more before bed. Really liking the second one a lot so far.

One and two are both great, but just be careful about the third.
