I could get one of those "You Suck" trophies for having sexon benched. He hit 2-3 home runs.
I have him on my squad as kind of a joke, I din' know he'd do good just to spite me.
Yeah, Utley definitely gets the Thundergod award.
5 days, 5 Home Runs. That sets the Phillies Record (I think) for consecutive games with at least 1 HR. Shel?? Confirmation?
CC Sabathia still gets the overrated award, and should continue to get it until he turns himself around. IF he turns himself around!
I dont actually remember the rest of the awards, so I will get back to you on some more ideas.

Miguel Tejada needs an award. Give him something. He, in my mind, has pretty much given me most of my points by himself. While all my big hitters were/are slumping, he's been pulling his weight and then some.

Really Team Harrington 187 points in two days? That is just not reasonable. Do you even have a batter with less than 25 points so far? What happened to the Harrington of week one, where is he?
I call shennanigans, there is clearly some sort of enhancer being passed around the TH locker room. Or perhaps these players have been replaced by aliens ala Space Jam (but without the Brian Bradley one to hold them back).
I am sure that Alien ringers are strictly against the rules and I demand that the commish do something about this insanity at once, before my boys are so badly beaten that their morale is gone for the season.

Ok gang,
I'll be home tonight to catch "Baseball Tonight" so I can get an idea of what happened across the league.
Trophy suggestions?
For Thunderstruck, I'm thinking Lance Berkman. He's been really getting it done; with 4 HRs, 12 RBIs.
We have a few for "worst....move....ever." as we all seemed to have forgotten to make roster moves.
For Smoookin', I'm thinking Johnathan Sanchez. 2 wins, 15 Ks. For whatever reason, ESPN is ranking Carlos Zambrano as being a tad better, but with less strike outs.
Any suggestions for "Stud of the Week?" and "Dud of the Week?"
Overrated has to go to (sorry you Philly fans) Ryan Howard. Come on, he's better than he's played this week.
The Booyah is going to an honorary move. I had to phone my brother while delivering yesterday to fix my pitching rotation, getting both John Danks and Mark Buerhle in. While neither picked up the win, both pitched well enough for me to FINALLY earn a win.
Against Doc.
I think that calls for a league wide celebration! ;)

I definitely agree with Berkman. He has just been flat out rakin' this week.
Let me look into the other categories in order to make a decision.
Okay, after looking at the different players I have come up with this:
Thunderstruck: Lance Berkman. 73 points, four homers, 12 RBI's, 25 total bases, and only one strikeout. If that doesn't deserve Thunderstruck, I really don't know what does.
Stud of the Week: Brandon Phillips. Four homers, 24 total bases, and fifty-five points.
Dud of the Week: Manny Corpas. -19 points, 1 loss, 2 BS, and 15.00 ERA He also lost the closer's role in Colorado.
Smokin': Jonathan Sanchez only has one win this week, Front. His last outing was last Sunday so it doesn't count for this week. So he only has one one and ten strikeouts this week. That's way ESPN is placing Zambrano higher. However, my vote for Smokin' will be Cliff Lee. He had a three hit shutout in Kansas City this week earning him 41 points in one outing.
Other nomination for Smokin': James Shields for his two hit shutout of the Red Sox today, out dueling Becket in the process. Edison Volquez: he has 2 Wins, 17 K, 1.29 ERA, 1.07 WHIP this week.
Edit: Corpas just lost another game for the Rockies, cementing his Dud of the Week status.

Poor Shel, forgot to start Volquez, who earned about 26 points today, dang.
Corpas isn't on anyone's roster right now.
Actually, I just dropped Corpas on Thursday.
For dud of the week, I would like to nominate Jose Reyes. This week he went 3 for 30, with 3 singles, 1 run, 0 SB, and 1 RBI.
That is horrible....

I didn't realize themike dropped him. Hard to give an award to nobody... I just saw the -19 on themike's box score, and assumed that he was still on his roster.
Edit: I'd also like to nominate the Hippos for Heartbreak Award. Getting 435 point in a week and losing is downright criminal. That is the second-highest score this week and the third-most points in a week in this young season.

If Kevin Youkilis has to be the thundergod winner for this week!
6 Home Runs in the last 6 days!! Are you kidding me! This guy, who does not hit with amazing power is absolutely carrying the Red Sox nation. He and Lowell have been on fire with HR's and RBI's between them.

JackAssterson
05/11/2008, 15:25
You know what the Mariners are in games where they've been down by 2 or more runs?
0-19.
If they're behind at any point by at least 2 runs they lose.
Every.
Single.
Time.
What's a real crime is that, by and large the first three starting pitchers have been phenomenal -- which doesn't really matter when your team can't score runs. The M's recently went 25+ innings without scoring a single run, something they hadn't done for 20 years.
It's depressing. It's no longer about beating the Angels, it's about trying to salvage some small sense of dignity.

Stud of the Week: Alphonso Soriano.
Thunderstruck: Fat Elvis himself, Lance Berkman.

I just got a heads up email from ESPN about round three of fantasy baseball, so I thought I would swing by and see what was up.
I am totally in for season three.
For my two cents I liked the stats from last year Hitting and Pitching seemed fairly on par, in year one the stats seemed way too heavily weighted towards pitchers.
Adding a couple more playoff spots is a good move and the only way the Ski Experience is ever going to see a post season. Now if real baseball could just add enough spots to give the Orioles a chance to see another post season.

Yeah or nay on having a "5 man rotation" like we did last year, with being only able to carry 5 starting pitchers?
Upped the playoff berths (which I learned has to be done before the schedule is set. Once ESPN sets your league's schedule, it throws everything off.)
I lowered the points for double plays turned from 2 to 1, but added 1 point for put outs and outfield assists.
Anything else?

Yeah for sure. I like the strategy of 5 pitchers for 5 spots. It stops hoarding and it makes you use those IR spots wisely. Last year it made for a few tough decisions and that is a big part of the fun for me.
I'm thrilled to do it again! Two years ago, my team was sick. Last year, my boys got hurt too often to be totally effective.

If you do, I vote Saturday. Wednesday is probably the only bad day for me this week though.

Saturday evening then gang? Any issues there?
(I'm going to set it for Saturday, I can always push it back to Sunday if need be.)
If I don't hear from our missing team owners; they're gone and we'll just bracket it down. Right now, we're uneven; but Shaun has volunteered to take and join if we come up with uneven players.
8pm EST Saturday. Any issues, we have until Friday. If I don't hear from our missing teams; they're gone.
Cricket, confirm that team for me; and if themike is Mike Wright; we've figured out his team. Can anyone *nudge, nudge, themike* if that's right, then we've accounted for all but two players.

I was all set for yesterday, and I was all set for today. But I can't do Saturday, especially Saturday night. I really want to draft though as I spent a couple hours yesterday planning out my rankings for each position, and I am geared up for it.
So please can we do it Sunday.

Here's who we have accounted for so far:
1 Chicago hitmen, Frontman
2 Doc's Minions, DocDoom187
3 Team SDMF, Charaxes
4 The Fighting Hippos, Gacy's Clown
5 Dave Marshak Ski Experience, lensart
6 Team Wright, themike
7 Houston Black Knights, loganspeedo
8 The Real Deals, BigKahuna83
9 Team Harrington. RCricket
10 Star City Arrows, Kitsushel
If by chance Gacy still wants out; we'll add another player to balance the scales and have two 5 team divisions (which don't matter, its just fanciful that way.)
Ok, I heard from Shel via Facebook, she is in.
Now, I have 3 teams unaccounted for; but one is themike's team. Anyone know which team is his?
Thanks,
Front
I'm Team Wright.
I dont have a clever team name this year. If I come up with one, I will let you know.

Thanks Mike,
Now, if we all can convince the Fighting Hippos to stay; we're golden. Come on GC! We need you, m'man!
This is the best team I have ever drafted.
On paper, that is.
I think my dissapointing, injury plagued last year is behind me. No Fighting Hippos to get revenge on for two years ago, either. He knocked me out of my title shot in the last day of our playoff battle.
Good luck to everyone!
Here is hoping for an active season for all of our players.

You're Team Wright, yes? Three years now, and I'm still getting teams confused... :ermm:
I'm so psyched about my team. I got my top three priority players in Teixeira, Pedroia, and Longoria. I'm throwing out there right now that Cameron Maybin is available for trade if the right deal came along. Make me an offer... :devious:

I totally forgot about the draft until like 11pm last night. At least the computer didn't totally mess me up even if it only drafted a couple of people I would have drafted.

Ok,
I kicked the draft to tomorrow. I really need to hear from some of our missing owners, though.
Kept trying to get responses from owners; and when folks don't reply, I need to eventually start the league. Sorry about that; but we needed to get people to respond.
you could have pm me i not getting e-mail up datrs from here anymore

Yeah, I don't get email notifications (even though I have my settings set to get them), so I didn't even know they changed the date again and again. I actually could have been there for the draft when they did it...:noid:

So I missed the draft... yet I'm in love with my team. MY lord is it stacked! I don't know how it happened but I ended up with 3 or 4 guys who could be considered round 1 or 2 picks. Maybe I should always let it autodraft for me. :p
Plus somehow, I ended up with the 2 or 3 sleepers I was going to target... without being there. Very lucky.

The scoring is crazy, folks. But I think with the Put Out, you're going to get points from solid defense play as well.
All these games have been great to start the season.

I lost my first matchup by forty points. I was outscored on Put Outs by 101. Having Soto go down in the second game really hurt me...
I hope I can make up for it.

I have to say having the put-outs has been awesome for my guys. Though having Santana rack up 50 points last week sure didn't hurt.

Why are Saves only worth 2 points and Wins worth 5? As of the current scoring system, it's better for a relief pitcher to blow the save and get a win (-2pts BS + 5pts Win = 3pts total) than it is to get the save.

Also, I looked at the team rosters today and saw several teams with disabled players and slots on their disabled list. There is still 3 months of baseball left, no one is truly out of the running.

Actually, I have already washed my hands of the league for this year. I am pretty tired of out hitting my opponent, only to lose because they have 4 1st basemen that net them 15-18 points a game, no matter how bad they play.
It is impossible to overcome.
I will more than likely see you guys next year.

I think there are too many stats to deal with in this league. The league my family started has only 12 stats to keep track of, 6 batting (Hits, Runs, RBI's, Home Runs, Stolen Bases, and Batting Average) and 6 pitching (Strike Outs, Quality Starts, Wins, Saves, ERA, and WHIP) and is a lot more straight forward. Plus there is a lot more activity on the smackboards and league forum.

I was looking at overall points and he has me by 700 overall and 700 in put outs. I don't know if he planned it that way or what, but he has done a good getting guys that have a lot of PO's.
