I tried to locate something like this and it seems that all Battleplanner discussion is in multiple threads. I would like to have a single location for all Battleplanner talk and coordination.

The main reason for this thread is so that HCRealms members that use Battleplanner can coordinate on updates together. I wanted to start updated the keywords for old figs, but I hate doing the work when someone else already has. So I would like to pair off the work for anyone currently on it or done with it.

Also, this is a good central location for BP questions and comments. :)

Well I barely knew how to edit figs and input new stuff in the first place. Have you already started on the keyword lists? If so, how far have you gotten?

I figure that if we have most of the BP editors on the Realms then we can each take a set or two and have it done quickly.

Well in that case, I'm going to start backwards from newest set to oldest. I have some time today and could probably get through one set or so. I'll update here so we can avoid repeating each others work.

I applaude those w/ the computer savvy to do this project. I, on the other hand, have about enough know how on working computers to fill the space of a split-pea. I am glad to see a thread like this created. As an owner of the deluxe, special, directors cut, wide screen edition of BP it is nice to know when updates get updated.:)

So, I have sent in the keyword update on Fantastic Forces, along with a list of keywords that need to be added to the system.

I just noticed that Sinister hasn't had any keywords added to it, so I am going to do that today I guess.

I realize that "Retired" is a choice in the powers tab...but for the purposes of Approved Play construction, I'd like a big red button at the top of the page to click to select quickly between restricted/unrestricted figures.

I wish they'd add the capability to search by starting click only (or selectable click from first to last) - when I want front loaded outwit figs someone with it on click 5 is not that useful, similarly if I want a solid opening attacker (11+) guys who spike at the end are not that hot.

You can set it to look only at the first click. There are two red arrows right below the "Help" menu. The up will look at all clicks, the one pointing to the left will only look at first click.

Thats a Great idea as I use the "Retired" choice to help build my floor teams all the time.

There is also a menu at the top that says "Battle Planner", in there you will see an option that is "Heroclix *Universe* Tournament Legal" Unfortunately, there is no universal way to do it besides the power filter (Click it twice to set an "X" in there and it will not show any that are retired)

You can also save filters in the "Save view layouts" buttons. This allows you to save up to 9 filter options. Only problem I have found with them is that you need to update them when a new set, power or other menu type is introduced. I have on set up for my have/wants, current legal, Wild Cards and one I use to set my goal counts

So, I just finished adding keywords to Sinister and I noticed that my V Bullseye already had his keyword. Does everyone else have keywords for Sinister already? I had to add them to mine obviously, but I'd rather not send them in if it's not necessary.

Since sinister is still legal, it had keywords from when they first released them.

Thanks. I wondered why that was the only set in my BP that didn't have keywords added. I think that since I had made most of those figures as additions myself, but someone else had as well, I didn't get the 'official' versions with an update.

Team abilities as Special powers

I was wondering, would people want to have these character show up in a filter if they put in that team ability?

With Nightwing, he has Outsiders and Titans as a spacial power. If you put the filter for Outsiders ta, would you want him to come up? This could also apply to other figs with TAs as powers like High Evolutionary and Avengers Hulk (ult)

To further expand on this, what about figs that get the :g-giant: or :a-duo: abilities as a power? (Emp Joker, High Evolutionary and Klarion all have this)

Without question, that would be a yes from me. Special Powers are really putting PB to the test...but also making it very effective for team building.

There should be. Same way that searching for a name like "Wolverine" picks up Patch and Logan. Maybe if they added a 'keyword' field like the original where you can put in power names that are listed. If a Special Power grants another TA or a power then you put that in the 'keyword' slot and a search would grab them. Same way it does with feat cards.

I know how to do it with Feat cards. You would put in the powers on the dial tab before you set the "Type" to Feat. Add how ever many clicks you need (If there are three attack powers as a prerequisite, then three clicks of life, one for each power). After you change the type to "Feat". it will hide that field, but the powers will still be attached to it for the filters.

That's what I made this thread for. I wanted to make sure that we didn't redo each others work. This way, you can find out when someone like Puuka...usually Puuka (:laugh: ) adds something to BP to be updated.

Make sure that in your BP folder on your hardrive you have a folder called hcpics. This is the folder for all of the pictures. If you got them from a yahoo group they should be properly labeled for BP to pick them up properly.

I do have a file named hcpics, it's the one that has all the pictures that I mentioned. I'll go back into my BP folder and see what's going on, but I thought I already had that. Thanx!

Hrm, got the keywords in... but the filters seem a bit messed up for me now. It's seems to be filtering out the Martial Artist keywords from Restricted sets, well, some of the restricted sets. Others are still in there. It's a bit odd.

No, the new keywords are in there as of today. Now we can add XSE and X-Statix to figs among other obscure keywords. Hurray!

Hey guys, I was going thru some keywords today and noticed Brood didn't show my 8 broods from M&M. When I went into my inventory I was missing several figures, no big deal I'll just add them in. Well, when I select the Master/Inventory tab and double click on the figure to add them into my inventory, they do not get added.

I tried to add Bishop and when I double click the figure doesn't get added but the picture changes to The Hood.

Any thoughts?

By the way, I have a team w/ all my Broods from M&M, the system recognizes that I have the figures, just doesn't show on My Inventory.

If you already have them on the team, then they will be "removed" from your inventory.

Well, that's odd. I shut down the program then re-started it and in both the Master/Inventory and Inventory tabs it shows all the figures that I was previously missing. Weird, thanks Puuka for your response.

I couldn't sleep last night, so I entered all of the Crisis figures from Rokk_Krinn's thread, the cardboard from the WK site, and placeholders for the announced LEs.
The Royal Flush Gang keyword is missing, so I was unable to add that, and I wasn't sure which figs if any were double-based or Transporters, so any of those are not marked correctly.
I also noticed that all of my previous corrections for keywords or whatever were also submitted again, so I apologize to poor Shawn for making him wade through all of that to get to the new stuff.

The easiest way that I have found is to rename the jpg files. Broken Drone should be drS001.jpg and Generator should be drS002.jpg, I think. I just had to do this with the Marvel Zombie photos I downloaded.

Ok, I've completed the pics list for Crisis, if anyone knows how to get the pics of my computer and into everyones hands PM me.

I wonder if they would put a new column in there for "real name" or "Other Alias". Also, if they did, who would want to work on such a project. (It would also come down to determining which version is who with some of them)

There are some that share a "Code Name" Such as Wonder Woman, Phoenix and Black Queen, but then there's others that have had different code names through out their career (Jean Grey/(Dark) Phoenix/Marvel Girl/Black Queen)

I know as a "Comic accurate" team builder that likes to build based on comics, this would be a great filter for me.

Anyone else be interested in this, or am I alone?

The reason I say "be careful", IIRC there are many figures that don't (or didn't) show up on the search. E.g. (and this one may be fixed, or I may be misremembering) figures like Mirage/Moonstar with different names in the REV don't all show up "REV" when you searched on one or the other name....there was also an expansion or two in which the LEs didn't show up when you entered the name of the REV.

For my druthers, if I search on "Cannonball", I would like the LE Sam Guthrie to show up too. (just an example, I actually think Sam does show up w/ Cannonball)..I'd extend this to LEs that are vastly different too...such as "Symbiote".

That had more to do with how they set up the "same as sculpt" actualy. If they had their own and it wasn't associated with the REV, then it would not pull up with the REV name. Same with if the R had a different name than the EV, then the rookie name would pull up the EV if they were "same as" sculpt, but the EV name would not pull up the rookie. By making this sort of field, it would cover that too. It's been sort of done with Wolverine (Logan, Patch and Weapon X all come up, but I did that a long time ago and submitted it :d)

One thing I have on my "Wishlist" for Battleplanner, is to swap the spots for Attachables, with WK Keywords. Kind of a small nitpick, but it'd keep me from having to scroll down when I'm looking through dials.

Sorry to bother you again, but I've been working for hours and still can't get it. In my C Drive I have my Battle Planner file and in that a folder named hcpics. All the pictures come from the DemonRS Yahoo group. I also have a folder named hcpics in my C drive.

Nothings worked. I don't know what the heck to do.

So, I wrote an email requesting them to add an "Alternate names" column.

Who wants to help with the adding of the names? I'm thinking of things like Real names, other code names they went by and such. (Wolverine, Logan, Weapon X, Patch, James Hewlet...) I wonder if we could just use the Keyword field since there is now a "Keyword" check box field. (I know Wolverine is set up like this sort of)

It doesn't really seem necessary. Is that going to make any difference on what feats can be added to them? They aren't 'technically' a double base figure just as they aren't 'technically' a collosal fig.

I don't mind it, but it seems like an unnecessary step.


On a side note, I added Will Magnus & Platinum's third special power.

Sometimes when building a team, you want to make sure not to pick a figure you can't carry. So you take out the Double base, transporters, giants and such. I was just thinking about it when looking up "multi bases" figures and they didn't come up.

Probably got a lot harder when they needed to code all the Special Powers.

This release should he *really* interesting, since they'll have to somehow account for Feats being assigned to Special Powers on five full sets...

It is my understanding that all of the stats have been submitted. They then need to be combined and looked over for accuracy, adjusted to include items like Indomitable and the Power Pack keyword, and then some additional coding to cover the new rule changes.
I'd guess we'll see it late this week or next week.

I'm really losing my faith in it.

This is very, very cool.

Now, my number one wish is that special powers text would pop-up when you mouse-over the dial/stat. Right now, that info appears only in the text on the left, and if you have pictures, you have to scroll down to see it-- and then you can't see the stats. Very annoying.

Not really sure. I know that some people have certain picture packs.

I have been adding my own photos for each set since Legacy. If anyone here needs pictures, I think it's pretty easy for me to zip them up and e-mail them to you.

If anyone is more techno-savvy than I am, I would be happy to learn how to post them to a website for everyone to grab. :)

There is a Yahoo group called Clixers that I get all my pics from. You can have it email you posts when new files are uplaoded and stuff and the people are pretty nice too!

You enter the dial in by going to Tools/New Figure. Then enter the figure ID number (AA00?) This will take you in to a screen which will allow you to put in all the stats. In the text section you would put in any special powers. You can use html formatting for <b>bold</b> <i>Italicized</i> and use <br> for line breaks.

On the "Click Editor" tab, you can put the dials in.

Hey Ludd, thanks for your assistance. I have done all that, I'm a member of the clixers group, I've opened w/ WinRar, transfered the pics to my hcpics file like I've done before and I still have nothing. I don't know why. I've got SP text where the pictures should be, I've even gone as far as dumping my BP and starting over. All the pics are there except SI.

He he no I've not put them in a HrC folder. The Crisis pics (which were the last set I put in) work just fine so I'm dumbfounded as to why the SI pics don't. I just downloaded the Batman Alpha pics just now and those don't work for me either. by the way, these pics are coming from the Clixers group on Yahoo.

When sizing the pics, double click the pic which opens in Nero Photoshop. go to "tools", click "re-size" and then adjust the X and Y Pixel Dimension? My Atlantian Warrior only has his head and shoulders showing in BP.

I found 250 high by 200 wide is the best pic size. Sometimes you need to crop the base/"flight effects"/flight stands off to get a good pic on some.

As for resizing. With each new set, I simply open them up in 'paint', hit ctrl W and change dimensions by 50% and close.

I use a program call listpro. It works on all windows based smart phones. You have to manually input data, either on your pc and sync with your phone, or enter it directly into your phone. I use it for want lists and other things like that. People always forget to bring their want list to the store, but I am never without my phone. If you want more info on it, pm me. I use it for everything.

Yes, I have entered the figure, BP has not released an update yet with B&B

I'm also trying to get them to put in a setting to let us show that they have a Trait with the other powers and abilities. Also, that they have the Minion and Alter Ego powers. Also suggested making it so you could attach the Alter Ego upgrade figures like you can a feat (if possible). Otherwise, it might work if we create a "feat" entry for the Alter Ego versions of the figure that we can attach.

Anyone know how to edit a person with a Special Power to also show it in the figure. Perfect example would be Ms. Marvel Skrull version, she doesn't have HSS on her Dial, but her special power grants it.

When I attempted to edit Zoom or add in Extant I couldn't add in the HSS for Zoom or incap for Extant. It's got the Special Power but it won't let you sort by Incap and have him come up.

You just select the Special Power for that click (Move/Att/Def/Dam) then in the text field, you can add that the special powers do. If you want to come up when you select the HSS filter, then unfortunately, there is a bit more involved in the background by the programmers.

Also, I just discovered today that I had a mistake in the Superman/Flash duo, he got submitted with a "0" point cost.

They should be. I had an email from them and they liked the idea of using the font I created to put the symbols in the special powers text area. They are looking at a way to incorporate that.

I don't know the code language you are using,so my help may be, well, less than helpful.

Many languages have a string function called "INSTR" or "FIND" that allows you to determine the index number of a small string inside a large one. If that returns a number greater than 0, that means the string is in there. If not, then it isn't. So maybe something like:

if (figurelist.figure(i).attributestr('WK Keywords').instr('Amazon') > 0 ...

would tell you if the string was in the keywords. It's not perfect - it would confuse Amazon with Amazonian, but I expect it'll work for your purposes.

I'm trying to figure out a way for it to calculate the points like Thunderbolts does with Avengers. I manged to get it to work in having all the keywords listed (I used Amazon,Warrior), and it was able to do those that just had those keywords. The problem was anything that was more than just those two keywords, or less. I will try your suggestion tomorrow and hopefully it works.

Same here... Although it took me not being able to find it and then having to contact BattlePlanner to get the email resent before I archived the code.

IIRC, as along as you have access to the old disk that had battleplanner installed, you should be able to find your key. I've had a few HDD die over the years (or get corrupted by a website perhaps?) and as long as I could get the directory structure to work I was able to reinstall BP with no problems.

I got an email back from them in Mid April. They are working on it. I sent some suggestions that I think they are looking in to including;

Adding Trait and Minion as checkable "Ability" (Like Giant, Duo, Colossal, Flight, etc...)
Adding Alter Egos as a Rank
Creating a way to attach Alter Egos and Battle Field Promotion figures like feats
Implementing the Font I created so that symbols can show in the text for special powers.


How much of this we're going to see, I'm not sure, but like I said, this was all about a month ago

If you have copies of BP on multiple PCs how does that work with the custom figures? Hey, all, Todd here.

First, let me apologize for the incredibly slow update and lack of communication. You guys deserve better. In the future I'll be more prompt with updates. I'll also check the group/this thread weekly and answer questions.

I'm still shooting to release the update next week. It will include all the BatB and BN figs/cards; plus a boatload of corrections (mostly HoT). We're working on integrating Puuka's font into the main BP application. I've heard its very nice, but I haven't seen it yet so I'm not sure if its ready for release yet or not.

@Capt_Kaos: If you haven't gotten your key yet, please send me a new email and I'll make sure it gets sent out tonight.

@absolutvt69: We process orders daily, so it shouldn't take longer than ~24 hours to get your code from the time you send Paypal payment.

That said, I would say to anyone who hosts these sites that there is probably value in building a HUGE zip file that has all of the data in it. While it was fun downloading 50 zip files, some folks (new folks, reinstall folks) will prefer the convenience of one file.

True. It's been a while since I had to do it, but I just copied the hcpics folder from my work system and took them home. I think if I had to download, I would rather just click one and go on with other tasks while it downloaded.
