Thanks, it's a book by Roger Zelazny, about Hindu Mythology, sort-of, it's a good book, I highly recommend it.

Ah, maybe that's why it rings a bell. I've been reading "The Great Book of Amber" and did some research on Zelazny (as is normal for me when trying out an author's works for the first time).
