How many people would be interested in this? I am tossing ideas around in my head, but since it's not exactly mainstream, I don't want to waste my time. Maybe more people would be interested in a generic zombie mafia? Feedback welcome.

I'd probably go for this.
Of course that means yet another film that I'd want to watch again
before playing. Not sure where I'm going to find time for it all.

I doubt you'd have trouble filling all the spots for a Shaun of the Dead game (although I wonder how many roles you can get from the movie).

It'd interest me more than a generic zombie mafia.

Well if the Town is the zombies, then we'd get lots of posts going,

I'd probably make the "survivors" the mafia since there certainly aren't enough to span an entire town. That said, I may need to snag a few characters from the inspirations for the film. That being George Romero's series. And then there's always the horribly out of place character that I include just to keep people guessing.

I would play.

Would you prefer Shaun of the Dead or generic?

I'd be up for either one. Shaun of the Dead writeups would probably be funnier, and generic wouldn't, but I'd like to play both, actually.

I'd play, but not right now. Have you considered a "Hot Fuzz" mafia?
Yerp!

Sstralkowski + zombies = good clean family fun

Yeah, I'd play that game! :P

Certainly not right now. I'm talking probably 3-4 weeks after Kid's Show is done. I had considered it, but SotD was so much better, plus there were zombies.

I'd play, would prefer Shaun of the Dead specific for the funny, but will do either.

SotD better? Child please!

SotD did what it set out to do. I set out to be a romantic comedy with zombies, and it did that. But as a movie, it doesn't match Hot Fuzz. I think HF had a stronger supporting cast than SotD, and well as a subject matter that is easier to relate too, making the self-parody more effective.

Now don't get me wrong, I liked SotD. But I loved Hot Fuzz. I saw them both for the first time on the same day. I've gone back and watch SotD once, while I can't count the number of times that I've watched Fuzz. I don't see where SotD was "so much better."

The bottom line is that Pegg and Wright make great films. I'd love to be in a SotD mafia. But I'd enjoy Hot Fuzz even more.

Chalk it up to different taste then, because I felt the exact opposite. I've watched SotD many times. Love it. Hot Fuzz had the same comedy, but a weaker plot IMO. Then again, I'm a raving fan of zombie flicks.

Personally, I think you might be better off with a zombie plot but perhaps use characters from a variety of movies. So Shaun of the Dead would be one, but maybe also Resident Evil (unless that's been done), Army of Darkness, House of the Dead, 28 Days Later?, and so forth. I don't really know watch a lot of zombie movies. But if you did something like that I would certainly play. Does that answer the question?

As I recall, I don't think SoTD had enough characters. It was just him and five friends, right?

Well you are correct in that there were only few main characters in SotD so my options are limited, but I don't think it's impossible to work with. Looking over the list of characters I have written down, I've got about 20(not solely from SotD) so I'll need to come up with some more either from that movie or from other Romero movies since that's the inspiration for SotD. I think if I limit it to SotD and other Romero movies, then it gives me a large cast to work with while not so huge that the game would be impossible to figure out.

And yeah, in SotD ther were 6 "survivors" for the most part.

The thing about those random characters is that even if you know one's there, predicting which one so that somone's role claim can be proven false is a tough task. I mean even a Borg, Star Trek's version of zombies until Voyager ruined it, would be within the realm of possibilities. It's just a tool to keep you all guessing a bit longer than in other games.

I just watched this last night, and just found out ab out "mafia" games this morning. This looks like it would be right up my alley. Please PM me if this game gets rolling. in the meantime, I'm trying to figure out how the games work. :)

You probably won't get enough roles just from Shaun of the Dead, so characters from various zombie films would work better, seems like.

The interesting thing for me would be to see how you determine that a player should act, if he/she becomes "zombified". In other words, can they still post normally or do they have to go around moaning ("Aaaoouuuugh!!") or yelling fun and zany things ("More brraaaains!!") Anyhow, you are a creative chap, so it'll be cool to come along for the ride and find out what's what.

Party on, Stan!

I think in a game like this post restrictions would be a bit telling so I might do without the whole groan/brains thing. That said, I expect a lot of impromptu stuff like that to pop up.
