So has anyone read any Hunter S. Thompson? I'm currently reading "Hey Rube" which is a series of essays he wrote for ESPN.
I've also read "Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas" and "Hell's Angels". This guy was a fun lunatic. After reading Hell's Angels, I wanted some biker generics for Heroclix.

So, anybody else get a kick out of this guy? (Uncle Duke?)

Absolutely!! I love HST!

"Fear & Loathing on the Campaign Trail" is a really great read, esp. during an election year.

I heard a rumor (several years ago) they were going to make "The Rum Diaries" into a movie, with Johnny Depp reprising his role as HST!

Well he talks about being on location for the filming of that movie in one of his columns in "Hey Rube". This was around 2003 I think. (I'm reading the book on my breaks at work.) I don't know what happened with the movie though.

I am a huge Hunter fan, he is a big reason that I got into journalism to begin with. If you can track down The Curse Of Lono it is completely insane and fantastic.

I have Songs of the Doomed and Fear and Loathing in America waiting in the wings.

I have read one Hunter Thompson book, I think it was Songs of the Doomed a few years ago a guy at work recommended it, he was reading it on the bus to work and got so interested in the story he was reading he missed his stop.

I read the same story and it was a hoot. The rest of the book was great as well.
