I wonder just how they justify tagging 'Herald' as a generic Keyword.

How do you justify it NOT being a generic keyword?

herald doesnt just mean "of galactus" , a herald is a bringer of news, events, tidings. sometimes an eater of worlds, sometimes a newspaper. =^^=

well, even counting the old sets there wheren't that many. Save for the former galactus flunkies, Vision, and Zauriel. Its not that common of a keyword, unless I'm understanding their parameters wrong.
I know that, but in this setting it generally has something to do with mass destruction and impending doom.
Yeah, well in this setting 'scientist' usually has something to do with science.
Still generic.

Okay, now you're just confusing me...
I thought Harold was only for people with that name. Cuz anyone with the name Harold is gonna have to stick with other Harolds so that the bullies don't...what?...oh, HERALD!
Never mind

The terms generic and common are not synonymous. Generic is simply not specific. A herald is just someone who precedes and signals the coming of someone or something else. "Herald" is a generic of keyword. If there were keywords like "Herald of Galactus" then that would be specific, not generic.

There are more Heralds than there are Kids.
Does anyone wnat to try to claim Kid is not a generic keyword?
Actually 'Kid' in the sense of a heroclix keyword is actually spelt with a Capital K due to the fact that it was a little known team back in the 80's. So far of the Team Kid only Shazam has been made (the brainchild behind the whole thing, if you'll excuse the pun), but hopefully soon there will be more.

The Hypertime Rookie has the keyword as well...
I'm willing to bet Hellbaby wasn't on the team though - he has the keyword as well. Other than that, it is pretty much all Shazam though.
Oh, and by the way... "Kid" is on the list of generic keywords.

I'm really not all that torn up about it. You know why? Because if it wasn't generic, people would throw two Power Cosmic Heralds from the CoG on a team and call it a theme. You want that? Because I don't.
In fact, I started a few months before keywords, and they seemed like total cheese to me. Because of them, no one is ever going to make an A.I.M./Hydra team, even though they were both together at one point. And no one is going to play the pieces they like, because they will get prob'd and the opposition will always go first and always cancel your BFC. Because they can.
Goodbye creative teambuilding, hello endless keyword search to find the one 20 pt fig that fits into your teambuild of Scientists, even though it's cheese.
Sorry. Rant.
Anywho, I'm still going to make the A.I.M./Hydra team. Because it will be awesome. And yeah, I'm gonna use MODOK. Anyone got a problem with that?

Heh i guess my lies have been caught out...and the laziness in the fact i forgot to check for others with the keyword. :P
Damn :)

actually.. i used to just make strategically sound teams ( read- ubercheese) and rock on. now ive been putting a lot of work into making theme teams, not just themed by keywords, but by keyword and comic. i dont read too many comics nowadays, but i do know quite a few people that do (imagine that), so i ask for advice. im more thematic now than ever before, but sometimes i have a theme and i notice that the keywords dont match up. Deadpool in Fearsome Four????? but aside from that i can assure you, youre also not the only one to run HYDRA/A.I.M. even now. sure its not keyworded. sure the little guys are weak. but Red Skull with +3 to hit and psychic blast, who needs a reroll? HYDRA technician healing him after he hurts himself with the cube, alriiiiight! theres still lots of good things goin on out there without themes.
but, ewwww.... M.O.D.O.K. ... needs M.O.D.A.M.!

It's really quite simple.
Every keyword that can be used cross universe that is to say has figures from more that just DC or Marvel or Indy has been made generic.
They are just rewarding the theme players who are playing real comic accurate teams than having all the best martial artists from all 3 universes. And so on...

Not quite correct as there is at least one exception - Atlantis is a non-generic keyword that exists on figures from both DC (Aquaman, Aqualad/Tempest) and Marvel (Sub-Mariner).
But in broad terms you are correct, Atlantis is just the freak exception.

haha its nice to know we get bonuses for running those water breathing freaks. =^^= seriously though, its nice to see something GOOD happen to the Dolphin movement symbol, theres so few maps with actual water on it, and with the addition of tempest's special power and the broken firehydrant, things are looking up. now to dig my man-things out of storage and run with JL Aquaman!
