In the not so distant future, way down in Deep 13,
Dr Forrester and Genius Frank were hatching an evil scheme
They hired a temp by the name of Mike,
just an average Joe they didn't like,
Their experiment need a good test case,
So they konked him on the head and they shot him into space...(get me DOWN!)
We'll send him cheesy movies, the worst we can find (LaLaLa)
He'll have to sit and watch them all and we'll moniter his mind.
Now keep in mind Mike can't control when the movie begins and ends
He'll have to keep his sanity with the help of his robot friends.

But on the Satillite of Love something strange is happening as the movies Mike and his robots have picked on over the years are coming off the screen and into real life.
This is the offical sign-up for MST3K Mafia: The Movies Pick Back.
This is a kind of BYOC mafia in that I want you to send me(PM) two MST3K episodes (Please provide either wiki links or episode numbers as I have not seen them all much to my dismay) you want characters from. Not every role will be choosen from these sent PM, but a lot of them will. As big as MST3K itself, I was looking for at least 40 players. (I know, I'm a fool), but now I will settle for a smaller game of 20. Game will begin about a week after the sign-ups close.

I know you want a big game. We all do. But sometimes you have to just work with what you get. Small games can be fun, too.

IMHO, the bigger games are an eyesore. The day phases are a mess, the night phases usually hit the deadline, etc.
And you'll usually end up with 4-5 people surviving to the end that didn't even know the game was running.
In any case, timing may very well have been an issue. You should maybe consider a do-over with signups. I'd also consider telling people, "Hey, if you have any characters you'd like me to add, PM me." As K-ness had it confused, others may have as well, and didn't sign up due to that "requirement". Maybe don't list the people who have PMed you roles. That added to the confusion, I think, as it made it look more and more like a requirement.
The few times I've seen sign-ups where the sign-ups needed to write something up for the mod, it's been a disaster. That's both here, and at other sites. I think you can get away with that in a Vanilla setting, but not with a theme game. There's quite a few people here who don't mod (despite the large number of people here who DO mod), and part of that is because they don't feel they are creative enough for it. So, that ties in as well.
And despite the success of the show, and the geekism of this site, there's a lot of youngin's here that have never watched the show. I myself am 24, and would have never watched the show, had I not been bored enough on weekends with the Sci-Fi channel. I think your target audience has been eaten up by Horror Movie Mafia, among other games along those lines.

There's also plenty of characters you can get from the episodes, if people don't want to do their own episode submissions (a mason/mafia group of Manos, Torgo, and Ladies Nightgown Wrestlers would be awesome, IMHO). :p
