My "comics rant" show!

I've started up a internet/Youtube show talking about whats on the stands at my local venue POW! comics!


Please give it a look-see and give me your feedback!

-WARNING: I use a great deal of Adult language! Not for the young-uns!
(this is an element that will see censoring when we start seeing actual production values!)

Watched half of the firs tone, and I mean, while I only read UK Marvel (about 2 years behind), I still enjoyed it because of your film prescence or whatever. Maybe a bit OTT on the adult language, not that i'm offended by it, just that it loses it's effectiveness.

I've been stunned by the positivity I've been receiving so far from my friends and peers in showbiz particularly.

We're gonna film another one this sunday night, and the plan is to add some production values to the show!

And just so my grandma can watch it we're gonna bleep out my swearing, or at least thats the idea so far...

FYI the Karate Kid in Countdown is different from the Waid revamp one. We haven't gotten any official word if he is from an alternate Earth's future or not or if the Waid one is, right now we have two Legions floating around. It's f'd up I know, DC needs to get their act together on this one a little. I have no problem with the language, I have a potty mouth myself, the military and construction will do that to you, but maybe a disclaimer before the show starts. Maybe stills of the issues would be better, some intro music, and maybe a rating system Answerman's Sucktastic Scale. Something gimmicky like Simonmoon's negativity reviews or DarkCrisis' OMFGRUNAWAYSISTEHPWNGEVERYTHINGELSEISTEHSUXXOR!!!!!!!! reviews. You get the idea, also try for around 5 mins, 10 mins takes up a good amount of change and it has to be very entertaining to keep people's attention (not saying that it wasn't entertaining).

it's funny. I only bring up Runaways when a new issue comes out. Yet when other people bring it up and i defend it then im some kind of zealot.

is it hard to believe the book might actually be good?

And btw, if you look closer at the reviews you'll notice i like a lot of books.

I think the time was just fine. The total run is about half an hour (3 parts, about 10 minutes each). Something only 5 minutes long would be like an annoying commercial, you need time to get through things.

I am a self-professed expert on the LSH who's bought nearly each and every LSH related issue of anything thats come out since 1983, so I am more than up to date on the Karate Kid topic!
In fact one of my favorite issues of any comic ever was the issue of the Karate Kid solo series where he fights Superboy.

Its wicked good times!


And thats why it pissed me off that the outfit was f-ed up (AGAIN!!!) and even more so since in issues prior they'd gotten it right!!!!

Like I said hes essentially wearing a gee so what kinda moron draws it as "undies on the outside"!???

For long term LSH fans and those reading Action comics its extremely obvious who this Karate Kid (Val Armorr) is!

I'm really not interested in doing the "stills" thing, and will just work on the presentation more.
My weakness in the 1st ep was really that we're doing this as a work in progress, and I admittedly wasn't thinking of the camera enough while showing the comics.

I'm pretty torn on the topic of the language, and will probably just end just going with what comes out of my mouth, as thats really just who I am.

As for length, we're gonna take er down to 1 segment of 9/10 mins, with some smaller segments throughout the week ideally.
The smaller bits will focus on more specific things, and be the focus for topics other than comics as well.


Of course this is really a work in progress so I can't say anything definitive other than more are coming!

We're filming again tomorrow night, and hopefully it'll be up by late tomorrow night/early Monday.
And the easiest way to make that happen is to keep it simple simple simple!

Of course thanks heaps for watching, and all the more for providing me with well thought out comments and critisisms!

Yeah its absolutely great.
Its also the perfect kinda comic for those not normally into comics at all.
My fiance loves the book, but doesn't read much of any other comics at all.
She was really into Ruse....

Got a kick out of the "How to handle a comic book" mini also. One of my pet peeves is when someone grabs a book (or comic book) like they've just discovered they have hands on the ends of their arms. Cripes.

The worst part of watching your show: my wallet gets thinner having to go out and buy some of the good stuff out there. :grin:
