Just wondering how you keep track of all the games you are in and the voting in each game. Do you use a spreadsheet or something else????

I am experimenting with a spreadsheet, but having trouble working out the kinks.

I used to use a word document copying every write-up, but I decided that was too much of a hassle so now I just use my head.

I randomly lynch/kill/vote/RB/silence/whatever people, keeps it all simple, sometimes i get lucky, of course if theres a particular mafia game i'm enjoying i tend to remember the suspects and other important things in it, in other words i pay more attention :p

I tend to act as the SK every game, it helps use less memory which can be used for lynching quiet people and townies. :noid:

Mental note, Kill goodman and Robo-Onion early on if you have no better choices. They're dangerous to all factions.

I usually limit my games to one (or two if one is vanilla) at a time. That way, it's really easy to keep up with everything without having to write it all down. I don't overanalyze things. I just go on instinct. Sometimes it helps, sometimes not.

Just remember it. Mind you, these days that takes nothing at all - I need to get in some more games :) - but even when I was in oodles at once, it's not particularly tricky (the closest "problem" being when you end up with the same character in multiple games or making sure you don't accidentally PM the wrong member of a mason/Mafia group).

I would suggest talking to JoH if you're thinking of spreadsheets as I know he's a rather heavy user of them.

Mostly it's a memory thing. But I tend to find myself using the writeups a lot and comparing that to what I remember. Sometimes it works, other times it doesn't.

The times I used the complex (i.e. roles, writeups, voting patterns, etc.) spreadsheet I lost the game because I became to confident in it. If I questioned it more, I could have actually won. So now I just use a simple spreadsheet. Player, Roles shown in write ups and claimed roles. Try to match them up. The more you use your head the better off you'll be in the long run I think.

Though if you are actually mafia, it's good to have a database for you and your team to access and use for comparison and brainstorming.

I limit myself to no more than three games at any given time. I subscribe to the mafia game threads and try to read them as much as time permits during the day. I also keep copies of the PM's that I receive from the mod or fellow players, for future reference. I only delete the lot once the game is over. It can be overwhelming, especially when I am running my own game - as I will be doing in the near future.

I use a word doc. I make a list of all the players and when they claim i put it next to their name. And when a character shows up in a write up, I note that.

When a player says something suspicious, I copy it into the doc with a referencing page #.

I just remember it. I guess I could sort out the pms or something but that seems like alot of effort for something I doubt I'm gonna look at more then twice.

Oh, and to answer the question, I do it all in my head.

I COULD keep track of it in a document of some sort, but I feel that this holds me back. It points me in one direction, when there could be several directions I need to go in.

Hmm, I may have to try that one.

I just write little notes about stuff I find if I have an info gathering role. Otherwise I just remember.

I use the Journals section and create a private Journal entry to keep tabs on the game(s) I'm playing...course that didn't do me much good last week when they were down..and just just fired randomly killing a Dr. and investigating role...:noid:

After the game's done I make the entries public and abandon the post forever.. :)

Notes are good, especially one that you can access from anywhere.

I'm also all about the Journal entries.

Mine will say something like:

Arkham

Rokk (wears black, claims Hugo Strange, very odd powers, Nightwing?)
Jack (dangerous man, Deathstroke? Cain?)
Iron Ham (claims Cluemaster, claims hider, Nightwing?)
CarlosMucha (claims Calender Man, Holiday?, TwoFace?)
etc
etc

When journals were down, I made at least 2 really dumb decisions based on things I should have known but couldn't access my journal and remember.

Spreadsheets are better for running a mafia game, though.

Me too. :(

I wanted to be mafia, just so I could trick you into supporting me again :p

SSBM, by far, the best I've ever played in any mafia game to date.

I have a wordpad document with the list of names and what I think of them.

all the name begin with no info except for:

Anti: suspicious.
Rokk: 90 % Mafia.
Thuffle: 100% Mafia until autopsy say other wise.

All the others
