I know there is a website or something out there that catalouges your pieces. I know of Battle Planner, but don't want to pay to inventory my pieces. Anybody know of anything?

Also, I live in a smaller place now and am having trouble in storring my pieces and being able to see what I have. Any ideas for that as well?

I sadly don't know of any catalouges online.

But, as for storage, I use clear fishing cases for my uniques/SR's/tradables/specific figs. And then I place them in laundry baskets that fit under my bed, and I just pull them out when I need to get to my clix, it's great! Then clear plastic containers for my nons and stuff.

BattlePlanner is it as far as HeroClix databases go. At least in being able to enter your own inventory.

But if you compare the features you get for the price, it's a steal!

You can pull teams by sorting by keywords, team abilities, power sets, retired, Marvel/DC ... any thing. You can sort by figs you have, figs you don't have. All your cardboard, 3d objects, etc. etc. etc.

Hell, you can even sort by male and female pieces.

I mean, really, what more could you want?

And for what ... $20, $30 bucks? What is that ... two tickets to the movies? 3/4 of a tank of gas? Hell, you can spend that much on latté’s in a week at Starbucks.

Just man up and buy the program. It does everything you could want it to do and more. And a hell of a lot better than a "free" program someone throws up on the web as a hobby. Seriously, you expect them to continue to support some online DB for years and go though all the trouble of hand entering new sets and all the errata when they aren't making any money off of it?

I'll tell you, if you do find some free online DB that allows you to inventory your clix, then you better pray they make some sort of export function that integrates with BattlePlanner before they go under.

As for storage, I found some semi transparent (translucent?) storage boxes in bulk at the local Linens and Things at the mall. They are the size of a regular shoe box, snap shut (so they don't pop open when I ... er, you ... fall), and are like a bundle of 5 for like $6. I just sort my clix by set and put a strip of Scotch tape on the front and Sharpie on the set name. Then put them in my closet, name out.

Oh, and they stack nicely too, with a raised lip and a buffer underneath so they don't slide around.

Ahh, it seems my local Linens and Things has run out. But luckily I bought more than I immediately needed, so they should tide me over until I find more.

I know there is a person, maybe a couple, that create an Excel sheet for people to catalogue their inventory. I don't have the links at hand, however.

There is also the web-based My HeroClix (http://www.myheroclix.com) which is free to use.

Just something I noticed, all thier latest news items are from 2005 and their main announcement is that Collateral Damage was just added.

I'm just sayin' is all.

Their database is actually more up-to-date than the front page news.

Oh good. That's was pretty eye popping there.

I'll second battle planner. It really is worth every penny of the $20.

It catalouges, sorts, shows you the dials and can even show you pictures of the figs if you download them into the system, it tells you which feats you have work with the figs, makes teams, searches, etc.

It really depends on what you want to do with the program. If you're just making an inventory, then Battleplanner is a bit overboard but you can do so much more with it than that, that its really invaluable.

Also I wouldnt trust a site like that to exist forever. If the site itself hasn't been updated in three years, I would be warry that it could just disappear off the internet one day with no warning and all your info would be lost.

Good advice, but it appears just the main page isn't being updated. A quick look at their sets list shows it includes all the recent sets up through Crisis and even has the Anti-Monitor pack.
Now I don't personally use the site so I don't know how user-friendly it is, but it is being updated for the important things. I mean, who really cares about the front page as long as the pertinent info is there and continues being updated?

I have looked at Battle Planner, and unless I just missed it, it can't be accessed over the Internet.
I use myheroclix.com because I can access my collection via my phone from anywhere. I can build my team while at work.

Do you know if Battle Planner has any plans on adding a web interface to their software?

I used myheroclix for a while, and it was pretty good. The front page may be out of date, but they put dials up the same day they're shown or leaked.

Its an experience thing. Its not a good sign when the front page hasn't been updated in several years. Its enough to make me wary that the site could just disappear because the owner doesn't care for it anymore and doesn't want to pay for the hosting. Its happened before with other sites and its part of the circle of life of the internet.

the information is not stored on the internet its stored on your computer. So there really can't BE a web interface for that. If thats what you want to do, then myheroclix is probably a better option for you.

Actually, it is possible. I have a couple of programs running on my home computer that have web interfaces. I have a free account at no-ip.com and just set it up so I type in a set URL and no-ip redirects it to my home computer. Just have to leave the right port number open on my firewall.

I'll have to put in a vote for Battle Planner as well. That program rocks! It's money well spent.
