This is mostly posed to my own players, but other mods can use this as a resource as well.

The poll is public, so you guys should be able to see what's going on...

After the last 45 minute hiccup, I want to talk about this, because I don't want my game to become unfair to the mafia nor town. I feel that this weekend destroyed my first day phase, and I don't want that to continue.

Please answer the poll when you can.

I should add that the alternate DNS name that people use for checking this website at work: www.moreprofitsmoreproblems.com

Is not working right now.

Typhon very recently posted that he should have it up in an hour or two, but if we have any players that were relying upon that website to get here (I can think of a few where that was probably the case), they will be unable to play until their DNS servers pick up the change.

I said no need, but honestly anything is fine by me.

Weekends are notoriously bad for my online time anyway. So, it can go either way. I also think that the weekend it fell on (Easter) contributed to lack of participation.

I think the holiday combined with the hiccups just made for a bad combination. It happens.

While I'm concerned about the lack of participation this weekend, it's over and done with.

What I'm worried about is the huge lack of participation TODAY. I mean, I'm used to seeing everything explode Monday morning, and nobody's posting at all.

We just had a nasty 45 minute downtime, and I still have connection errors every few minutes, that last a good 5 or 6 seconds.

Granted, MY game is in the night phase right now, but it's just as unfair to my night-action players, specifically the Mafia.

What I'm really going for here is to find a way to keep my game going, and make it fair. Because I don't feel that Day 1 would have made a recovery at all, which is why I don't want to open Day 2 until I'm certain people will be ready to participate again.

Understood. I think Vanilla's my only active game right now.
And the hiccups are disconcerting.

I think that's why we have a 24 hour window, for problems like this and other RL issues that may pop up. Though I do miss the 48 hour weekend, that we used to have.

I don't think it's a big deal. I'm one of the people who couldn't access the site on the weekend due to both server issues and Easter madness, but it seems enough people were out that I didn't miss much.

I think everything will be back to normal either very soon, or already.

...

Well, as normal as things ever get around here :cheeky:

What I'm gathering here is that there's no need for a suspension, and that I should just give the night phase an extra hour.

Does that jive?

I've been having random 1 hour hiccups but Idk if I wan't to cancel a game for hit.

I know I have delayed opening up Disney 5 cause I am waiting for the hiccups to stop. The weekend combined with the holiday on Sunday really took it's toll on mafia games. I know I just stayed off since it was just frustrating to come on and get kicked off.

We're not talking cancel. We're talking suspend. For like a day or two. "Postpone", if you will. "Rain delay", if you must. ;)

I have no intention of canceling anything. I don't think anyone else is, either.

Thank you for your input, that was much needed. This is kind of what I'm seeing today, which is most of the reason I'm suggesting the suspension in the first place. This thread was put up this morning, and I directed my entire thread to this one, and closed it.

There's less than 15 responses, and only 10-11 are from the 21 players I have. I'm getting server load errors once every 15 minutes, and they last for 2 minutes at a minimum.

Some of the major 'Realmsers like Jackassterson are completely AFK today. I just can't resort to the majority on this, because it seems to me that the majority is mostly unspoken today.

I'm suspending my game until tomorrow afternoon, at the earliest. If we haven't had any relief, we'll be talking Wednesday. I apologize to my players, but you have a mod who takes game balance far too seriously. :ermm:

You other mods can do what you want, but that's the direction I'm moving in at this time.

Depends on the timing honestly.

I didn't delay my game but we were on day 1 and nobody was really close to being lynched.

If I thought giving a couple extra hours would have changed the outcome of the day, I probably would have suspended it.

I did the same with my Day 1. I don't think there was any way I could have sparked any life into the thread for that phase, and I didn't want people to feel like they had to come to a majority in order for the day phase to FINALLY end. So I just closed it.

But with it being Night 1, I have considerably more control now over when I open the thread, and making sure the conditions are in order for it.

Yeah, I'll extend my night phase if I have to.

Alright I've decided that I'm fine with continuing the game as long as we do get extended time for the time we missed during the hiccups.

Um...is it okay if I just don't vote since I haven't experienced any of the hiccups? :nervous:

Honestly - I keep seeing everyone posting about their troubles but I guess I'm just lucky in the time I'm online, because I haven't noticed any change with the new server.

i'm still NOT having any issues with the site either. but i'm fine with delaying it for others as long as necessary...

I was going to say that people should deal with it, and then it told me that the server was too busy for about 45 minutes. :tired:
