Hey Ive built a Green Lantern theme team. With the new Hal and Guy and Kyle and use some of the ones from the box set and they still get there butts handed to them. Anyone got some ideas to help this team out. I mean they are point expensive I think they should make a great team. But something is missing... I could use some pointers :disappoin

Well, you should first point out what point value you want your team to have. That usually helps.

i would suggest a high build total, the more points total the better the GL's get

700 pt GL team? That's where they really shine! 600+ starts to open them up for a lot of team members & good feats.

We'll start with the 3 you mentioned:
157 - Green Lantern (Hal)
182 - Kyle Rayner
133 - Green Lantern (Guy)

Hal is a great piece and I would not hesitate to put him on this team.

Kyle, while a bit expensive, brings a pretty good figure to the team. In a 700 point game, there's room for him.

IMO, Guy really isn't worth the points. He doesn't help his team that much. He's more of a "go in and attack, forget you guys" figure while most other GL will support their teammates in some way.

Let's look at the GL figures from the action pack:

G'nort: 70 points. Great support piece. Every click of his dial, whether he's got Outwit, PC, TK or Enhancement, he'll always be a help. His 2 detriments are his lack of a team ability and his poor combat values. Since he's more of a support piece than an attacker, though, he definetly has a place on the team.

Ch'p: 82 points. This little squirrel is super frustrating to anyone facing him. His second click gives him 18 defense with defend! He's also got running shot & TK on this click making him a great team player! He's become one of my favorite GL pieces.

Abin Sur: 137 points. Until Kyle came along, Abin was the first GL team member since V Hal Jordan to have an 11 attack. He's also the only one of the Corps pack to start with RCE, giving him the higest damage potential of the group.

Arisia: 103 points. Her combo of powers makes her able to be an attacker and a supporter. Unfortunately, she just doesn't have the staying power to make it on a team. She has no Willpower or damage reducer. While her Enhancement and Perplex are both nice, they can be better found on other figures.

Katma Tui: 89 points. A solid attacker with good combat values and powers, but not a first choice for me. Her lack of move and attack and any abilities to help the team put her further down the list than others.

Tomar Re: 111 points. Does this guy need any more praise? 12 range, running shot, Perplex, 3 base damage, 18 defense! Later in his dial, he gets Enhancement & TK so he can help his team mates. On his last click he has Pulse Wave & 3 damage for what can be a devistating late game attack.

If I were to build a 700 point team using the above figures:
157 - Green Lantern (Hal)
-GLC
182 - Kyle Rayner
-GLC
-Protected 8
111 - Tomar Re
-GLC
70 - Gnort
83 -Ch'p
-GLC
89 - Katma Tui
-GLC
--------
700

This gives you 3 team rerolls plus the PC from Gnort.

Push Ch'p to get to that 18/Defend click. Use him to TK out your attacking pieces (not that you have to worry about actions). Don't push Kyle until after you've used Protected or it won't do you any good. His first click is worth preserving.

Also remember to use barrier. Hal is the only character who can't use this power at some point. Keeping Barriers up to block LOF will stop Outwit, attacks, movement... all thos things your opponent likes to do!

Finally, remember to work together as a team. The GLC ATA will bump your attack every time you attack the same figure. There's also a good ammount of Perplex, Enhancement and TK. This team has the mobility and the potential to cut through a lot.

400 pt GLC:

Arisia 103
-Construct 14
-Green Lantern Corp 0
Green Lantern 157
-Protected 8
-Green Lantern Corp 0
Tomar Re 111
-Green Lantern Corp 0

This leaves you with 7 points left over for whatever--coordination, monster hunter, insider info, nanoarmor, etc. Or a pog. whatever. Arisia can tie up pieces with her barrier and Construct nerfs the #### out of HSS guys, and you can easily out-range opponents with all that running shot floating around. Hal needs the protected to be playable. I've played him without it and he was Ok, but protected allows you to play a bit more agressively.

I don't think they really work at 300 unless you like two man teams, in which case you could drop and throw on some more feats--A second protected on Arisia, for instance. However, I don't think that team would be very good, as they'd easily get out-actioned.

I played this 300 point team a couple weeks ago and it worked great!
90 Green Lantern (Starro Slave)
- Opportunist 10
111 Tomar Re
- Green Lantern Corps 0
82 Ch'p
- Streak of Luck 5
--------
298

GLC keyword with 1 reroll
Hal sat back & built up tokens. Pushed Ch'p early to get to 18 & defend
Grouped the whole team up and let Tomar snipe anyone who got in close enough.
Went 3-0 and the most I lost was Hal. I faced down Darkseid one round & Kyle another.

Here's a 400 point Floor GLC Team.

CR Sinestro (146)
+ Warbound (5)
CR Green Lantern (157)
+ Warbound (5)
+ GL ATA (0)
GLC Ch'p (82)
+ Warbound (5)
+ GL ATA (0)

The advantage to this is that you'll want to keep someone close to Ch'p for the Defend anyway, so you can trade off on tokens. Probably Hal at first, since Sinestro has a natural 18 Def. And the nice thing is that all three of these guys can use Warbound on the others (since 82 is over half of 157...). :)

I am beginning to realize that ol Kyle Rayner is just a bit too expensive .... in my opinion ...I was thinking of using Guy in a few instances to help tie up the opponents

Kyle may be expensive, but when you play your favorite character....etc. Nothing is too expensive!

Kyle wouldn't be great if he had the quintessance power his whole dial and also had running shot.

I'd consider playing him in a larger game where he's more useful, but anything below 600 I'd rather load up with other lanterns.

For the same points you could run tomar and g'nort.

It's not really advisable to play Green Lantern Themed Teams in point builds less than 400. You'll end up being out-actioned, swarmed and overpowered. Also, the new Kyle is just too expensive for what he brings to the table. As soon as the 1st click is gone, one solid hit and Kyle's a dead GL. That's not just the case with Kyle from Crisis. Most GLs suffer from High point values and terrible downhill stats.:ermm:

However, that doesn't mean there aren't useful GLs available. Ch'p is great for 82 points, has 18 defense with defend on his 2nd click and is one of the cheapest GLs available. Tomar Re, for 111, is even better. 12 range, perplex and high defense values make for a great GL piece. Katma Tui is another good one for 89 points. Throw in Armor Piercing and she's perfect. The Starro slave GL (JLA TA) is also another interesting figure to field, , perplex, willpower and energy explosion with 2 targets makes it a neat package for just 90 points.

Range is a GL's best friend. Stealth is the worst thing for a GL. If you end up facing a batman TA team, you're as good as dead. Also as much as it would be fun to play Hal, Kyle and guy on the same team, i'd advise against it. They cost too much and their powers don't really support each other. You're better of using hal with tomar re and arisia. Know the dial of your GL and try to complement their strengths.;)

Oh and hope that you don't end up facing hypersonic figures as well:p

Hypersonic speed guys can be neutered a bit with arisia and construct. She also brings enhancement and perplex to the table alongside her barrier. Plus she gets force blast for knocking back people that try to base you, and gains TK.

I think week 6 I'm considering running this:

82 Ch'p
-GL ATA 0
103 Arisia
-Construct 14
-GL ATA 0
Tomar Re 111
-GL ATA
90 Green Lantern (JL)

Guy Gardner is the greatest Green Lantern, and anyone who things otherwise is crazy I tells ya!
