View Full Version : What is the Most You Have Spent on a Single Figure?

SuperGENE

This one's pretty simple: what's the most you have ever spent on a single figure? For me, it was $160 for Starro because WK said he'd never be available again after the AoS events. Aside from that, I don't think I've spent more than $30 on a single non-colossal figure.

this is to tell you how bad I am about presale and specualtion....I spent $65.00 on a Black Adam SR that was in hand a week before the release of Crisis, I got the figure in 2 days prior to the release and pulled 2 out of the case I got. It made me feel like a ######, but on the other hand i spent $25.00 on the Azbats pre-sale and now it goes between $40.00 and $75.00, so that made me feel a little better and like things balanced out in the larger scheme of things.

75 to 90 on Colonal America, Spider-Man, and Wolverine. I only spent that much cause I'm a horrorclix player too and I knew any future zombie wouldn't be cross compatible

I think my "more than $100, less than $200" is still accurate, even if you add in the figures I traded as part of that deal...

my wife would string me up if I paid more then $50 on a single click, but I did pay $40 for a war bound... ouch:disappoin

I lied answering the poll. Originally I was thinking of Jean Grey Phoenix at $35.00, when she was offered by Wizard. But after I answered the poll, I remembered I paid $120.00 for the original Galactus. But it wasn't for him alone. I got all the WK con exclusives that year, as well as all of the boosters my mule purchased to get the Galactus. It was a very good bargain.

03/31/2008, 01:57
Over $100, but it was for Galactus.

There's a store here selling Fing Fang Foom for $400. I know it's near impossible to get him in Australia, but that is ridiculous!

brevard321
03/31/2008, 02:14
I spent 9 dollars for Sentry, and I think 11 for KC Shazam, and 12 for the Dark Knight convention exclusive.

Other than that, it's been all trades, bricks, boosters, cheap cases (like old Hypertime or Icons), or lots with a small average $ per piece. :)

lancelot
03/31/2008, 02:42
$210 for Irene Adler...then $225 for KC Superman (Crisis) <technically $80 since I pulled a 2nd and sold it for $145> ;)

Dr. Morbius
03/31/2008, 02:50
$80 on Jean Grey Phoenix...apart from that never more than $20 for regular sized figures.

Over $100, but it was for Galactus.

There's a store here selling Fing Fang Foom for $400. I know it's near impossible to get him in Australia, but that is ridiculous!

That's insane! Get one of those "Buy it know" ones on ebay.com for $50 and pay like $80 for shipping to Australia and still save like 2/3rds!!

03/31/2008, 03:17
I've bought 3 in the over $50, but under $100. $75 each for Spectre & Foom, and $50 for Galactus all were new.

03/31/2008, 03:25
I'd say that my Zombie Hulk & Alfred definitly put me into the "over $100/under $200" zone.
What can I say? I just couldn't open any, couldn't manage to win a cheaper auction, and didn't have anything (except cash) to trade for them....
Odds are I'll end up doing the same thing for an E-2 Superman eventually.

KC Supes, $50.

ohoni
03/31/2008, 03:41
Less than $50, not counting Spectre. I'm not sure exactly what the most I ever spent was, but I doubt it was more than $35, and if it was more than $25 than it was several years ago.

I used him recently, too!

$17 for Oracle, without shipping. She shipped as part of an auction lot, however, and I don't think the shipping was more than $3-4.

Close to a C-Note although it wasn't for C-note himself...

It's all relative I guess, one man's 5 dollars is anothers 5k so as long as it is not hurting the wallet and taking food away from the plate I say pay however much you feel like paying for what you want.

Impulse, it's the bane of my consumer habits...

A couple of years ago I spent about $150 on the O.G. Galactus. Otherwise, I've stayed under $30 on single figures. I think KC Supes for $25 was my next highest purchase.

I have never paid for a heroclix figure except for buying a pack. I have bought feats because I was tired of people using ICWO. Even still I think it was under 10. Since packs cost $10-11, now I consider it as buying a pack.

Drunky
03/31/2008, 07:56
45 euros for the LE Silver Surfer (Critical Mass). Though that was a few years ago, and euro wasn't as strong as it is today, it was still over $50.

Torchwood
03/31/2008, 08:01
If we are talking about regular figures on the after market I have never spent more than $15 for one figure. I did spent $25(Including shipping) for Lobo.
I have purchased some of the Convention exclusives for regular Convention prices. I am not a Fan of Ebay and the overly inflated prices they curently get.

I have tried to limit my purchases to $150 for the big exclusive figs. I had mixed feeling recently when I saw most of them at Wizard magazine's website for a bit less and no ebay issues.
The highest I paid for a normal size click was $20 for Mac Gargan. I really wanted a Scorpian that did not suck.

dariusq
03/31/2008, 08:18
My biggest purchase was either old school Galactus and/or colossal Spectre. Both were ebay'd for around $250 when they came out. Spectre I'm a little burned that they're releasing him at a cheaper rate after the fact but Big G was worth every penny just to get the older version.

batjester
03/31/2008, 08:19
Well I didn't include buying Galactus (OG) so I went with over $50 under $100. I got KC Green Lantern for $52 (shipping included) and U Nightcrawler for $54 (shipping included). I try not to spend more than $30-$35 for any one single, but those two were so hard to come by that I bit the bullet and did it.

darthfatty
03/31/2008, 08:21
$125 for a Zombie Hulk from Elevenbee.

I later held a sealed tournament with him as the first prize. (There was a reg. fee and I made my money back.)

Personally, I have a hard time paying more than 30.00 for a figure. Perhaps some of the larger ones (Foom, Starro types) I'd go 60-65 but that's it. I've paid about 20-28 for a few uniques but that's it.

flakbait
03/31/2008, 08:57
I paid $35 or whatever Dark Phoenix was at the conventions, but that's by far the most I've ever spent. Back in the day I would occasionally buy a unique for about $20, but I'm pretty sure the old Warbird was the last time I paid that much for a single figure (that was about when she came out).

Artie Deco
03/31/2008, 09:09
Far, far less that $50. I have a rule I don't spend more than $10 for a singe figure.

I feel extremely bad if I spend more than $20 on one figure.

Miraclo
03/31/2008, 09:28
I went with "Over $50, but under $100" and only because of the convention exclusive colossal pieces I've paid up to $85 for. As far as standard clix it's definitely under $50, and generally $15 or (much) less as I pick around for pieces I missed and some LEs of interest.

ahtitan
03/31/2008, 09:29
I paid $34 with shipping for U Nightcrawler. It's the one I really wanted to pull but never did. I waited a few years until it wasn't $80 any more.

03/31/2008, 09:31
$120 on the 2004 Galactus still holds my personal expenditure record to this day. Bought it from a friend, since I was not able to attend a con that year.

BigO
03/31/2008, 09:33
I think the most I've ever spent for a figure, including shipping was about $8-$9. I really can't justify spending any more than that for a piece of plastic. I love the game and all but between what I pull and my friends pull we pretty much have everything we'd want to play with anyway.

Bildar76
03/31/2008, 09:38
$125 for a Masterpiece Batman. Also $80 each for the big Figs.

My KC Superman was an Ebay steal at $25!

2Face
03/31/2008, 10:01
$50-$100. I paid $90 for an Alfred. It was part of a trade (non-Heroclix) plus cash deal. I'm actually surprised I haven't paid more, especially since I have Spectre and Starro as well. I won Starro and traded my Galactus I got at Comic-Con for the Spectre. I've paid $75 a couple of times, for Lois Lane, Wizard Shazam, and Galactus.

03/31/2008, 10:05
I voted under a $100, but I forgot that I actually spent over a hundred on my Specter and on the Earth-2 Supes (I think I was in denial when I voted).

I'll admit to being one of the 4 people who has spent over $300 on a single fig. It was for a masterpiece Spider-Man a couple of years ago.

45 bucks for a Lambda-Zero is my max so far. I think V Surfer from Supernova comes in second @ 25 smackers.

When I was still an Uber-Collector, it was the KC Supes for $50. I never used it and it collected dust, so I sold it...

I can't believe there are 4 people who have purchased a piece for over $300.?! Well, actually I can, but that's like a month's car payment for me!

epalicki
03/31/2008, 11:27
I voted before I remembered about the Spectre...he's the only one that I ever spent more than $50 on. I think I paid ~$30 for an Ultimate Thor and around 40 bucks for KC Flash.

Baron Zemo
03/31/2008, 11:31
well it would be around 100$ for a Dark Phoenix
regular size is a tie between AW V Iron man and Cap and Bucky

$30 for KC Flash.

I've been wary of "exclusives" since the DC Giants set started popping up at hobby stores in the discount bin...

03/31/2008, 12:47
Youch...do I want to dredge up these memories?

Hmm...

$79 on Zombie SpiderMan
$86 on the IC Bruce Banner
$100 on Pharzoof (biggest let down in value)
$100 for a set of Judge Starro Slaves
$100 for a set of Judge Galactus Heralds
$106 on Zombie Hulk
$107 on Chase Alfred
$120 on Fin Fang Foom (Green)
$150 on Latex COG Galactus

Only the chases seem to keep value...lessons to be learned. :ermm:

Deadpool29
03/31/2008, 12:50
round $125 for Chase Alfred when OR first came out. Luckily for me I ended up selling some clix to cover the price and everything :)

I'm an incredible gambler, but if I could buy the specific fig I want for under 50$ then I'm sold!
But past 300$, I'd probably just buy 2 cases instead.

Mjolnir
03/31/2008, 14:08
There have only been two times I've paid over $20 for a single figure(that I can recall).....
When Kyle Raynor LE came out I thought he would be as valuable as the Hal Jordan LE so I bit the bullet and paid too much........I still thinks it's a fantastic figure but the value is.... about 30% what I overpaid for it.

The other?
Earth2 Superman. I pulled KC Superman and didn't feel like cherry picking the boosters to try to find anther chase, especially since anyone in the know had already picked through the heavy ones.. :noid:
So I was left thinking the value of the fig will definitely go up so I paid > $100 for the fig. Funny thing is I sit him on my Computer at work and people walk by and say things like "hey, that's Superman. Why does he have grey hair?" and I just ignore them rather than try to explain the multiple earths in DC comics.... kinda like trying to explain Wolverienies origin.... it's long, complicated, and guaranteed to confuse them.
So, anyway, E2 Superman is such a badaxx figure I knew I wanted one..... plus he completes my Crisis set.
I look at him and think "I paid this much for this little plastic piece that will be retired in 2 years? sheeesh." but he is one of my most treasured clix's........ him and KC Superman, Kryptonite Gloves Batman and all the other b,c,d list figs:
Red Tornado,Oliver Queen Green Arrow, Connor Hawke, both Speedy's, Question, Mr, Miracle, Big Barda, Zauriel, The entire CSA, original Rhino, original Electro, Mysterio, CM Daredevil,All the LoSH figs ever made plus all the JLA figs(except Vixen, that sculpt is just fugly and precludes any affection and/or use for that particular clix).... good stuff.

Shield001

And I don't think I have spent more than 20 on any single piece...

03/31/2008, 14:17
Last week I spent just over $50 for a Starro. It was less than I paid in 5 weeks of competing for him (not nearly as fun, but still... ;)).

Before that it was the original Galactus - $50 exactly.

Psyskzm
03/31/2008, 14:30
the most I Spent was $400 for the Specter after WWLA back when I Thought 5000 pieces was a limited amount of figures. then they are still giving him away, so I thought I had a week to send in for WF only to find out 5000 IS a limited amount for a figure. someday I'll learn to count right.

03/31/2008, 17:19
So far, every figure I've purchased has been under $20. I've been tempted, that much is true, but I've always stopped myself, reminding myself that I have more than enough good figures to build teams with, without having to have that "one special figure" that I really want to try.

Then again, I'm not a hard core tournament player so perhaps it does not matter to me as much.

I spent over $300 on the original Galactus, and came close on some of the other colossals. The most I’ve paid for a chase was about $150 (apiece) for the Crisis Supermen, and the most I’ve paid for a ‘normal’ piece from a booster was $55 for a KC Green Lantern.

From my perspective, I pay what they’re worth to me, and while it would have been nice to pay less (although you can probably say that about anything in life), I can’t say I regret any of those choices.

03/31/2008, 17:48
I chose the "Over 200, but less than 300" option - but it was for the one-of-a-kind Clear Sentinel and I feel very satisfied by the purchase.

I spent $75 for Galactus at WWLA and the booth asking price for Spectre and Foom as well. I traded for Starro. And I managed to only pay over $100 once for a chase figure (Earth-2 Superman, darn it anyway)....

I Am The Game
03/31/2008, 19:08
I voted less than $50, because I won't dole out more than $40 for any one figure that can be found in a pack. The last time I was close was probably $30 for M.O.D.O.K. when the set came out. Anything else can wait, although I can forget about getting an E-2 Superman unless someone is desperately seeking Lois Lane and M&M cardboard... (Warbound sucks, by the way... my Doom Patrol team still lost! ;) )

Granted, I've spent $100 at the Wizkids booth twice, once for Fin Fang Foom, and the other time for Dark Phoenix, but I got plenty of other stuff along with it.

I think the original Martian Manhunter, Loki, & Nimrod were my 3 highest at between $20-$30 (maybe just over $30). When MM was remade it seemed silly until I saw the new sculpt. As we get more & more remakes, I plan to stay under $20.00 as much as pos. I'd have to love the charactor to pay more than that & I think all the charactors I like that much are made now anyway.

I can't vote in this one. I know I actually fall in the under $50 category but oh well.

I don't feel any of the above fits my singles buying habits. I have hard time spending $20.00 on a single figure. I love the game and I love to collect but my money is finite, and spending it on expensive singles is something I have not been able to bring myself to do.

edit: I'm not counting Colossals. they are bigger and as such should cost more.

04/01/2008, 00:25
The most I ever spent was around $35 on a Martian Manhunter unique from Cosmic Justice and that was a few years ago. Nowadays if I don't pull it or can't trade for it and it's a figure that goes for more that $15 I just won't have it:D

Con exclusive colossals being what they are, then over $50.00, easy.
I have only spent more than $50.00 once for a single standard figure, that being Sentinel of the Skyways.
I will not spend over $100.00 on any standard click, and if they increase the price of colossals to that amount, then it would have to be a colossal I really wanted. I would only have paid $100.00 for Galactus out of every colossal made to date.

SaferSephiroth
04/01/2008, 16:25
$75 if colossals are included (Spectre).

$60 if they're not (Ultimate Thor).

So I picked over $50 but below $100.

burleigh2
04/01/2008, 16:52
$55-60 for KC GL, $32 for Dark Phoenix (AW mailin I bought from my Venue, but sold for a profit on eBay later), $25-30 for KC Flash, and a few around $20-ish (Ult Thor... can't remember the others)... plus I bought $100 worth of stuff when I was at a Con to get the Con Ex (which I sold/traded to pay for part of gas money).

Ultimately, I still have the KC GL and KC Flash (and a couple smaller rares), plus I have some rares that I've pulled/won that are worth a lot (LE Surfer among others)... but that's the most I've payed to buy a specific one.

The most I payed was for a KC Superman, and I got a deal on it. When KC Superman was still going for a round $60-100 a pop, I got it for around $40 dollars including shipping & handling. I shocked my friend when I told how much I'd spent, but he didn't know Heroclix (or KC Superman). Of course it's cheese if I play him, but I don't care. KC Supes for the win!

04/02/2008, 18:16
I had to answer "over $100" because I traded over $100 worth of stuff to get Karla Sofen...at least I think it was around $100...it may have been $75.

I think I bought a player's LE Hulk for $50ish several years ago, that remains the highest for a single, non-convention figure.

04/02/2008, 20:38
After market I paid $80 for the original Galactus, $55 for Dark Pheonix, and $50 for Starro. I bought The Spectre from Wizkids at WWLA a few years ago and I believe that was $80 as well.

As far as "regular" figs, the most I believe I paid was $46 for the Unique Clobbering Time Nightcrawler 3ish years ago.

tbhughes1376

Paid somewhere between $15-$20 for a legacy vet batman when i first started playing. since then i haven't paid more than $12 for a single. i feel bad because the amount i spend doesn't equate to the small amount i play. Plus my wife doesn't understand how much i spend. even though it's not a lot it's money that could go to something for the entire family like our vacation savings.

However i'm seriously considering forking over the jack for a chase Supes. At what point do you stop chasing a figure? I bought my brick so i could get a WF which i did, plus the SR's i wanted (spectre and alex luthor). Since then i've bought 4 boosters and cherrypicked each one in hopes of getting either chase supes. At what point does it become financially practical to just buy the chase and stop throwing money into the boosters?

I spent $150 on the old Galactus, and at the time it was a steal because he was going for about $300 at the time. But for a standard sized figure, I think $55 for the original KC Superman.

$120 on the 2004 Galactus still holds my personal expenditure record to this day. Bought it from a friend, since I was not able to attend a con that year.

Forgot to add the most I have paid for a non-colossal fig. That would be $80 for a LE Zombie Wolverine. Given what these clix go for, I think it was a good deal.

Over $50, but under $100.

Paid $61 for a Spectre (Colossal).

LE Irene Adler and LE Rupert both cost me about $75-$80 apiece, and I'm pretty sure that's the most I've ever spent on individual figures. (Other than the Con figs.)

(Then within 6 months of finally pulling the trigger, I was sitting with 2 more Irene Adlers that WK threw out as prizes at various points. Always the case right? :cheeky:)

I don't know if it's me or what, but it seems that I'm seeing a lot of KC Superman clix being listed here. Pretty interesting.

I'll shamefully confess that I paid over $300 for the original Galactus, but I will never do that again.

The most I spent for a single fig was for Rampaging Hulk, which I bought for the equivalent of 15 dollars.
