Tribute To Ric Flair

I thought the tribute to Ric Flair was awesome on RAW this past Monday night. I can't believe they dug up JJ Dillon and that Tully Blanchard came out of the pulpit to get into a wrestling ring. Why was Barry Windham introduced with Arn Anderson and the rest of the original Horsemen? Because he was the first guy they jumped out?! Dean Malenko had more business being out there than Windham!

It was a nice tribute, but a little contrived with Cena being out there as he isn't close to Flair...and what was up with Batista staring down Shawn Michaels all night?! It's not like Flair and Vinny Mac didn't plan this out...it was no secret in the locker room, but Batista looked legitimately mad!

All in all, it was a good period on a great career.

I enjoyed it as well. I grew up watching Flair and while I'm sad to see him go, I'm happy that he can actually start enjoying the fruits of his labors outside the ring.

A couple answers for you:

1) Barry Windham was one of the first "replacement" Horsemen after Ole was out. If I remember correctly, he was the second such replacement (Luger being the first). So other than Ole himself showing up or Luger miraculously being able to walk, Barry is the most logical choice to come out with the "four".

2) The Cena thing wasn't contrived. Watching the Legends of Wrestling on WWE 24/7 it's been said multiple times that Cena has brought Flair to tears because of his enthusiasm and constant picking of Flair's brain backstage. He's a student of the game and who better to learn from than Flair.

3) The Batista thing seems to be an angle for a possible feud with Shawn. I don't like the thought of it...but they may do it.

My one regret was that the whole WWE/TNA thing meant that we couldn't have Sting come out.

Truly worthy ending for Nature Boy Ric Flair. Everyone was there dispite they chars being either face or heel in current story line. Even those that would never respect anyone else in story line did so now for Ric Flair.
