View Full Version : Disney 5 - Horrors at the Haunted Mansion
Before we begin, let's recap the rules (paraphrased from Peers' many wonderful games):
Things to remember:
1) A full writeup of the rules can be found here (http://www.mafiascum.net/wiki/index.php?title=Main_Page) This game will be more complicated than what's described there, as nearly everyone has some sort of 'special thing' about them. Doesn't mean everyone has a night power, but you never know...
2) When you vote, please do so by saying Vote: [Player] in bold. If you wish to change your vote, please say Change Vote: [Player] instead. Voting for 'Nobody' is a valid vote; if a majority votes for 'nobody' then nobody will be lynched and we'll move on to the Night phase.
3) If your role says you -may- PM me a target, you don't have to do anything at night. Even so, it'll speed things along quite a bit if you'd still just send me a PM saying "Not using my [whatever] power tonight, thanks."
4) If your role says you -must- PM me a target, and you do not? I'll pick one randomly. Or, perhaps, not-so-randomly. Don't blame me if you target someone who kills you.
5) You may NOT send a PM to anyone about this game unless your role explicitly says you can. This is cheating.
6) Do NOT edit your posts in this thread. This is cheating.
7) Please do not copy-and-paste anything from any PM I send you to the thread. This is also cheating.
8) Please do not post in this thread after you are killed. This, too, is cheating and can ruin the game if done wrong.
9) Cheaters don't get to play in any other Mafia games I run. Period.
10) Remember, it's just a game. You will get paranoid, you will be stabbed in the back by someone, you will see somebody do or say something stupid and want to smack them. Just breathe deep and relax. If things get out of hand, we do have a mod playing who will forcibly remind you to chill out if needed. It hasn't happened yet, and I'd like to keep it that way.

Added Disney Haunted Mansion Magic:
READ THIS NOW!!!!
A) Every day there will be a question from a previous Disney Mafia game. Be the first one to answer correctly, and you "live" for another day. Answer incorrectly, and it might spell the end for you in this game. Every question will something that ALL players would have known. Questions will come randomly throughout the day.
B) You will see Disney characters doing things in this game VERY un-Disney-like and maybe even out of character. Just play along....;)
C) It is the haunted mansion - the night phase is the day phase and the day phase is the night phase. Just go with it and don't ask questions - why would ghosts be discussing things during the day??
C) It is very important that you DO NOT DISCUSS THIS THREAD WITH ANYONE ONCE YOU ARE OUT OF THE GAME! It goes without saying that undead is not always dead at the Haunted Mansion.....

Beginning Write up!
When hinges creek in doorless chambers and strange and frightening sounds echo through the halls
Whenever candlelight flicker, where the air is deathly still that is the time that ghosts are present, practicing their terror with ghoulish delight….
Midnight struck on the old clock in the hallway – it would have gonged but the bells had long rusted off. Instead, a howl came from the depths of clock.
Two figures poked their heads out from the wall and scampered across the hall. Perhaps it would better be described as they poked their heads out from the wall and glided across the hall floor.
As the last tick tocked from the old clock and midnight was upon the Mansion, the old house suddenly became alive. In a manner of speaking of course.
Figures floated upwards through the floors, chatting with others, ignoring others. Some were there because they deserved it after the deeds they had committed. Others were there because their friends did not trust them. But the air was thick with tension.
Walt Disney sighed as he stared at his creations from the upstairs hall. Well, some of them were his creations. Others he had never seen before. He turned back to his poker game with Jiminy Cricket, Mufasa, and Roger Rabbit.
“I’ll take two,” Walt sighed as Jiminy flipped two cards over to him.
“GIN!” Roger Rabbit displayed his cards.
“For the last time, Roger,” Mufasa said gently, “This is poker, not gin.”
Roger rubbed his temples with a ghostly finger, “But I like gin.”
“As evident from your previous life…” Jiminy said with a smirk on his face.
“Boys please, I can’t take this arguing. Not here. I am getting a monster of a headache.”
“But you don’t have a head to ache?” Roger swiped his hands through Walt’s body.
“You know I hate it when you do that Roger,” Walt sighed again, “Why must they constantly fight! Every night – you killed me and she killed him and they conspired to kill us all…on and on and on.”
“No one takes murder lightly,” Mufasa rumbled, “And I’ll take 1 card please.”
“If they would only band together,” Walt sighed again, “your bet, Mufasa.”
“Ah,” Mufasa smiled behind his cards and pushed some chips to the center of the table.
“If those damn princesses….” Jiminy began to turn red.
“Now now Jiminy, the last time you got steamed up, you dissipated for a week. No use getting steamed up.”
“They pushed me out a window! And I fold.”
Walt looked at his cards, “Call.”
“As in the circle of life, my dear friend Walt, I have a flush, King high.”
“No matter,” Walt put down his cards, “I think a nice stroll through the cemetery will do me well. Some good fresh air.”
Walt floated from the table and out the wall to the outside.
Mufasa stared as Walt drifted lazily around the cemetery.
He turned back to the table, “We should cheer him up. We are his friends after all.”
A plate came flying through the air and went right through Jiminy.
“I could also do with some night air,” he said dryly.
The three spirits floated through the window down to the cemetery.
“Walt! Oh Walt!” Roger called out.
“Where could he be?” Jiminy scratched his chin.
“I wonder where the moon went?” Mufasa turned toward the roof. Nothing but blackness surrounded the sky. “I miss the nights in the savannah…you could see so many…”
“No…stay away….no! I created you! STOP! AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHH!!!!”
“Walt!” the three specters said in unison and floated off to the source of the sound.
They turned around the cemetery to the walk way. There was nothing but a flickering candle in the torch.
The music from the Mansion broke their silence as they searched the walkway. But Walt was never found.

A new headstone has appeared in the cemetary:
"Here lies MSU - his life was cut short by a year or two"
MSU is out of the game. He was Walt Disney, the ghostly creator of the Disney franchise.
33 beings remain at the Mansion. The first night phase starts now! You need 17 for a majority. It ends at 11:30 pm on Friday evening.

I haven't gotten to go in years. :( Keep wanting to see it during the holidays when they "Nightmare Before Christmas"-y it up too.
Heck, I even have that Eddie Murphy movie just because it's about the closest I'll probably get to heading back there for awhile.

As morning came, the ghosts went into their hiding spots - clocks and cupboards and crooks and crannies.
Well, not everyone did. Some spectres has other business to attend to....

Night 1 write up
As the sun set over the Haunted Mansion, some of the spooks lie still, resting until the stroke of midnight. Others, on the other hand, decided to wreak their vengeance on the inhabitants of the castle. And strange creatures began work on their secret plans.
***********************************************
One such creature set to work, digging out a tunnel. The figure dug a tunnel and when it was satisfied, it left.
One of the specters floated along and came across the tunnel. “Strange,” the spectre thought and tore down the tunnel. The tunnel ended at the resting spot of Goofy. Goofy was in ghostly chains.
Another specter was in the room and was waving hands in the air, using ghostly magic, commanding the chains, so the tunnel traveling specter roared. The magic using specter finished the spell and quickly floated through the wall. Goofy awoke to find himself staring at the tunnel traveling specter. The specter roared again.
“GAWSH!” Goofy cried and floated through the wall and outside, being chased by the tunnel traveling specter. Goofy floated pass the gates of the Haunted Mansion and dissipated as soon as he reached the edge of the manor. For you see, ghosts cannot leave the Mansion – if they try, they go to a place far more sinister then the Haunted Mansion.

“Oh toot toot! VROOM VROOM!” a ghostly driver shrieked as it tore through the mansion. “Even in death, I love driving the motor cars!” The passenger in the car hung on for its dear life.
Another spectre heard the commotion and brought a bottle of red liquid up with it. It saw it’s target and hurled the bottle with all it’s might.
Unfortunately, ghostly bottles travel very slowly.
As the bottle traveled towards it’s target, the ghostly driver stopped, letting its passenger and picking up a new one.
“Good thing everyone is dead,” the new passenger said, “Or you just might kill someone.”
“TOOT TOOT!” the driver shrieked and tore off through a wall.
The first passenger sat down as the bottle of red liquid smashed on it’s head. “Ewwwww,” the passenger said and wiped the liquid off and decided that it had had enough this evening and went outside.

Another figure was in a room, gazing into a crystal ball. A spook traveled into the room and grabbed the figure’s staff.
“Give that back to me!” the first figure narrowed it’s eyes as the spook threw the staff outside. The figure went after it’s staff in the hallway.
The mischievous spook looked around and grabbed the crystal ball and floated through the walls with it in tow.
The figure found it’s staff near the staircase and also found itself staring into an unfamiliar face.
“You don’t belong here,” the figure picked up its staff and held it defensively.
The unfamiliar being smiled a silly old smile and produced a jar from behind its back. The unfamiliar figure hurled the jar at the figure with the staff when yet another figure swung from the chandelier and landed between the two, deflecting the jar.
The new figure then pushed the unfamiliar being down the stairs.
“I guess it belongs here now,” the figure with the staff smiled at its protector.
But to surprise of the two spirits, the unfamiliar being got up from the bottom of the stairs, dusted itself off, and walked outside.
“Curious….” The figure with the staff said and went in search for its crystal ball.

As the clock struck the final chord of its haunting chimes, the spooks awoke and began to roam the castle, noticing their missing companion. Perhaps if some spirits had acted this evening, poor Goofy would still be with them today......or perhaps, that was part of the plan.

A new tombstone has appeared in the graveyard:
“Oh what a night, oh what a toll, death came too early for poor old Kontrol”
Kontrol is out of the game. He was Goofy, once an aspiring actor from Disney 4, now a lost spirit. He was a Ghost (town).
32 players are left, you need 17 for a majority.
The night phase begins now!
GRIM GRINNING GHOSTS COME OUT AND SOCIALIZE!!!!
My apologies to everyone - I got kicked off the Realms and quickly closed the thread since I couldn't get all the PMs out in time. The thread is now open and the "night phase" ends at 1 am on Monday.

I keep getting images of "Luigi's Haunted Mansion" with all of the Boo's running around.... But I have no info to add to the discussion so I'll keep my Nintendo imagery to myself and go launder my ghostly sheet. OOoooOOOooOOOOOOoooo!!! :squareeye

Okay, of the previous Disneys I only played in 4.
There, if my notes and recall serve, we had the same size game, around a
third of us were mafia, split between 2 mafias, and no neutrals.
Is that typical?

Not a busdriver since Mr. Ghosty Toad is here. I would guess misdirector. Which means a killer was misdirected? He went down the hole and ended up being responsible for Goofy's dissapation. Does that seem right?

Someone launched a bottle at the figure trying to retrieve the chrystal ball. A new figure came between the two, hit the bottle away and pushed the bottle thrower down the stairs. So the bottle launcher is either a killer and a doctor doctored the chrystal ball retrieving figure, or the bottle launcher could be anything and a roleblocker blocked it. Not exactly sure what the bottle would have done if it had made contact. Although, when the figure was pushed down the stairs, the chrystal ball figure said, "he belongs here now" which indicates the bottle thrower was not a ghost. Sound right?

Something has happened!
As the ghosts floated about, some of them rhyming, others of them discussing some of the things has happened, a smaller ghost floated back to his corner. Someone had left him a nice juicy tomato over the day while he was resting and he was getting hungry.
Cri-Kee chirped in delight when he saw the tomato still as red and ripe as it had been when he had woken up from his slumber.
Too bad Cri-Kee's luckyness did not extend to himself....
As Cri-Kee went to take a bite, the tomato exploded. Normally, an exploding tomato would do no harm to a ghost. In fact, the ghost would have probably enjoyed a good joke. But this exploding tomato was packed with a powerful substance, "lethal" to ghosts.
It was too late to warn the others about this new threat in the mansion....and Cri-Kee dissipated, never to be seen again.

The figure had one plan in mind, but the tunnel provided such an interesting opportunity…..

Tarzan curled around the chandelier, his preferred resting spot while at the Haunted Mansion. It reminded him of the trees of the jungle and he preferred being up high.
He stretched and yawned and floated to the floor beneath him.
“Excuse me,” a figure said behind him. Tarzan turned and saw a figure holding a jar. It has strange writing on it. If he had only listened to Jane’s lessons on reading!
Before Tarzan could comprehend the situation, the figure through the contents of the jar onto Tarzan. Tarzan looked up covered in a substance and saw the smiley face of his attacker but before he could cry out, dissipated.
The attacker waved good bye to the ghost and skipped merrily back outside the mansion.

Abu stared into the crystal ball and started chanting. The head inside the ball was not paying attention to the monkey.
Abu banged on the glass. The head floated around and cocked her head at the monkey. “Perhaps if you spoke proper English, I could be of more service to you.” the head said smugly.
Abu heard noises behind him and saw the tunnel traveling figure come out of the tunnel that had appeared in Abu’s room. The tunnel traveling figure roared at Abu. Abu squawked and flew out of the room, the tunnel traveling figure close behind.
The owner of the crystal ball came back into the room, “There you are!” the owner said and picked it up, “Thank you!” the head said, “That monkey was not speaking clearly at all!”
Abu floated through the walls of the mansion and came outside. The tunnel traveling figure was close behind. Abu saw the gates to the Mansion ahead and flew as fast as his ghostly legs and arms would allow him to. In the excitement of being chased, Abu forgot about the rule of not leaving the grounds of the Mansion and as soon as he floated pass the gates, dissipated.
The tunnel traveling figure snarled at the vanishing Abu and went back into the Mansion only to hear the clock bells begin to strike midnight....

Not a bad guess - survivours from previous games as Mags says? - and it's what I thought yesterday; today though the write-up shows it's not so much going Outside as leaving the Mansion territory (I thought it a bit strange that "outside" was death being there's all those great outdoors areas such as the graveyard with the Grinning Ghosts).
Hmm...wonder if the Mafia could also be the actual Disney Haunted Mansion characters trying to get rid of interlopers?

"Oh boy oh boy!" Dale said smacking his lips at the carrot in front of him.
"I dunno about this Dale," Chip said warily, "It was just there when we woke up. Are you sure it's safe?"
"What can a carrot do to me? It's healthy! Besides, I'm already dead!" Dale grabbed onto the carrot when suddenly the carrot took off with Dale attached to it.
"DALE!" Chip cried as Dale flew through the mansion and out the door.
"CHIIIIIP!!!" Dale cried out as the carrot headed towards the gate to the Manor.
"Uh oh," Chip flew through the wall and watched as Dale headed for the boundaries of the Manor. The carrot blasted through the gates of the Manor and Dale dissipated.

If it was a post bomb the danger is over for the day as they only happen one a day so we have nothing to worry on that front. But if it was a post bomb it was a a small one around 25 posts which even with normal discussion will be unable to avoid

Cause if it's a really short fuse, there isn't a lot of difference between it and a second hit and I've played a game where the post count was high and I never achieved it all game despite pretty blatant thread spamming which was (no offense to you) annoying as all hell.

Well, in the absence of any other info, we've only got 4.5 hours or so to
try and get a lynch.
Even if we lynch a townie (which is statistically probable), voting trends
etc, will give us some extra information.

Actually I'll go with TMNT.
Since being in Shaun, and being virtually whitewashed, I'm totally second
guessing myself.

Been doing some thinking about the veggie-bomber and I'm wondering if he's a Serial Killer or Vigilante with a delayed effect and not a Mad Bomber (as I was trying to find a pattern in when the bomb goes off).
The reason for this is because it seems we have - and I can't believe I'm going to "fret" about this - too few deaths each Night. We should be looking at three+ attempts: one or more Mafia, a Vigilante and a Serial Killer. We've been seeing two; someone's missing in the equation except for the Daykill.

I really do. There's a whole matter of my wife not being willing to ride on my handlebars that pops up every so often (I even offered to buy pegs for her to stand on, but no luck). My brakes were in need of repair for, like, a year. We were only able to let it go for so long because I drive it so rarely.

The ghosts argued among themselves, and poor Chip was upset that his buddy has been taken away via a carrot, but no conclusion could be reached.
As the sun rose, the ghosts went back to their respected spots around the mansion.
Others though....others conspired to cause more havok in the mansion.

Totally off-topic, I suppose, but what are you doing?
Working at Payless Shoes. Its right down the street from school, so I can drop him off, play for an hour, then walk to work. Then pick him up. So convenient.
Its also the single most complicated thing I've dealt with, although easy at the same time. Mind-boggling.
Write up!
As the sun set over the Haunted Mansion, spirits went to work trying to find out who was causing havoc through the mansion. Perhaps it was the loss of Abu, or perhaps it was the spectacle of seeing Dale fly through the mansion on a booby-trapped carrot but everyone who could did something to root out the causers of the chaos in the mansion. And tonight there would be chaos…and it all started with a mad-cap driver…
“Oh thrills…on the rapture!” the driver turned a corner of the mansion as the passenger held on, “Nothing like the thrills of the motor car! TOOT TOOT!”
The passenger did hold on as the car sped down the hallway, blowing through spirits (who were quite annoyed by the ruckus). The ghost car barreled through a wall and finally stopped at the roof of the mansion.
“Your stop, my good sir…” the driver said as the passenger got out of the car and another one got in, “Have a good evening….and where are we going tonight?” The driver said to the new passenger. Before the passenger could say a word, the car sped off, “VROOM VROOM!” the driver called out and flew through the roof back into the mansion.
The passenger who had gotten out of the car sat down and just felt lucky to be out of that damn car. The passenger did not notice another figure on the roof, who immediately brought down a frying pan over the passenger’s head.
“Time to keep you safe,” the figure with the ghostly frying pan said as the passenger slumped to the roof, knocked out. The figure with the frying pan dragged the passenger back into the mansion.
Three other figures was waiting on the roof, one holding a jar, one holding a vegetable and the other shaking in fright. Tonight, the figure holding the jar would not be able to do what it had come to the roof to do.
“Which one received your present,” the figure holding the jar asked.
“I don’t know, this whole place gives me the creeps! I don’t understand why we came here in the first place, I would rather be back….”
“Let’s get out of here before more sp…sp….ghosts come!” the third figure said nervously.
The three figures climbed down from the roof.

The tunnel burrowing figure finished the newest tunnel and looked around.
“Are you done yet?” another figure asked quietly.
“All done, must say it’s one of my finest!” the tunnel burrowing figure said and climbed INTO the figure. They sped off as they heard a familiar figure travel down the hall.
The figure was looking for another but saw the tunnel. “Yet another tunnel,” the figure said and flew through the tunnel, hoping to see what was at the other end.

The figure looked at the crystal ball in front of him and started chanting. It had not noticed the tunnel that had been created in the room. Nor did it notice the tunnel traveling figure.
The tunnel traveling figure roared at crystal ball holding figure who dropped the crystal ball in fright.
But another spirit came out of the ground and roared back at the tunnel traveling figure. Mufasa was here.
“You will not harm this creature tonight,” Mufasa roared at the tunnel traveling figure, “You will not harm any creature tonight!” Mufasa roared again.
The tunnel traveling figure lowered its eyes out of respect for the great King and floated out of the room quietly, ashamed of what it has almost done and who was there to witness it.
“Thank you,” the crystal ball holding figure bowed said and went back to the work.
“Not tonight,” the head in the ball said to the figure, “I have a headache…”

BTW, I was silenced yesterday.
As for the tunnel digger, you all were discussing yesterday if that person was a killer. I'm not sure the tunnel digger is a killer. It seems they are more of a misdirector and whoever they are targeting is the killer. They dig a tunnel, another ghost goes in (although it seems like the same ghost each time), the ghost comes out the other side and tries to make a kill. Maybe the roaring ghost is a vig. And the tunnel diggers are a mafia misdirector, know they targeted a killer and continue to target the same person. Otherwise, if the tunnel digger was town, wouldn't they have come forward with the info on a killer? Does that make sense? Just my thoughts on it.

Jessica Rabbit sounds like a jailkeeper i think, which is kinda useful and not so useful at the same time, good job for whoever she protected last night though ;)

I'm getting the impression Simba is a vig and the mafia are misdirecting him. If that is the case, the vig needs to stop targeting people until we take the tunnelers out.
