On Day 2, when the Don (K-ness) was found out, he did a huge "You got me, lynch away" moment, hindering the jester's ability to get himself lynched later. The next day, he tried to start a lynch on a townie to get marked as scum, and picked a second Mafia, thus becoming a hero. The next night, he misdirected the right person to make things very interesting for every other player (causing a huge chain that resulted in the cop targeting the last Mafia but being md'ed into a townie), but also inadvertently md'ed the SK into himself. Got to give him a nod for that.

Also, CharlesX is the worst tracker ever.

I'd like to apologize to all mafia game moderators and players for the lack of maintenance of this thread. I haven't done any updates in a long time and haven't had the frame of mind to up on it again. I didn't even post results for the last game I ran. So I'm sorry.

If anyone wants to take over this thread, you are more than welcome to as life is giving me more than enough over things to occupy my time. You may want to double check the wins tally as there may be an error or two, but the main list is accurate up to its last entry. Again, sorry for not updating the thread and keeping it up better. Hopefully whoever takes over will be better at keeping it up.

Wins don't mean a lick to me either. Individual overall performance does. If I lose but get to lock wits with other players, and see who can outsmart/outlie whom, then to me that is reward in itself.

The problem is that the way the general community measures success is via wins/losses.

How would people feel about a new tally system, which not only rewarded wins but participation as well?

Maybe 1 point for playing in a game, 3 points for a win, and 2 points for an honorable mention? Or some other simple variation.

I don't think any amount of points are going to get new people interested in signing up. The veterans are just too dang prolific in these games, so if anything it would make it more difficult for the new players to keep up.

So, the thing about the wins list that I like, is not trying to chase the wins list...

but it gives me a very good picture of just how many games people have played.

I mean, I knew Rokk_krin was a vet, and I've heard people talking about how much he wins, but dang did he have a lot!

So it is useful, in that for novice players, who maybe don't know how long, and how many games you guys have played in, it's useful to see some players have one upwards of 100 games...

I like like seeing the total wins. It's like a footnote for players past and present. I enjoyed see who has has played the game and may or may not be playing now. I honestly don't know how many games I've won or played, but I do know who I've won with. Albeit not many, but that's the tally I like.

Enough about trivial musing from a novice: I'd like to see it stay.

I think too many people play mafia for the wrong reasons, to win, for revenge, or because the mod needed more people and the player felt guilty.

But it bothers me when people join games half-heartedly, and I'd like them to want to play for the sake of playing. So in that sense, wins don't matter to me.

If anyone wants to help me update it, send me a PM with your email address and I will send instructions. It is pretty easy, even if it is time consuming.

EDIT: I am working with oldest to newest, so it won't do what I want it to until I am finished.

The other problem I have with the "wall of winners" is that it is incomplete. Some games don't get reported, and those wins never get tallied. And that thought bugs me. Even the thought of the first post being incomplete bugs me, but that one is easier to rationalize in my head for some reason.

I think it is the numbers and ranking system. If that is wrong, it would drive me insane, and I know it is wrong, so I would rather not do it than live with an incorrect ranking system. Whereas an item omitted from a list doesn't bug me as much as there are no numbers or ranks to sort.

Is winning a game vs 6 people the same value as winning a game against 20?

What if someone wins as the SK? Does that make it a better win, since it was a Solo win, than to win as just one of 6 Townies who successfully killed the Mafia?

What about a win where someone used a Mod Designed rule that all the sudden someone is magically a winner?

I mean, counting wins is essentially non-proportional so you can't really count on it being equal. Does that make the wins count, more or less useful?

As always, I'm late to the discussion. But I would be strongly FOR keeping the Winners List. Not so much for the ranking per se, but I see it as a legacy of the time people may have contributed to this subforum to make it so special.

I see names still high on the winners board like KitsuShel, Antipathy, Shadow40, Carlos, DarkCorsair, (and soon myself) who are all people who haven't been very active in a long long time. But they're still up there because of the time, effort, and contributions they made. You don't get up there without becoming an integral part of the community.

It's a tangible "Wall of Memories."
