This is a kinda funny thread.
I say kinda because is not. :p
I mean, come on! I just read that Family Guy have only 8 PMs receive for this night phase!
Send PMs is important part of the game!
What I do to send PMs on time? I try to decide that during the day phase, soo when the night phase begins I can send it as soon as the night begins.
If not I will probabilly forget who I have to target or I will have to re-read that day phase again. So for me, send the PM right away works.
If you are Mafia you can made your suggestion to your mafia during the day phase, in that way the Don can have a idea of the night targets and put up a "sugestion" actions for the team, and then before the time is up, everybody can say if they want some changes or not.
I think this may made the game more active during the day phase AND specially can give to the game something good if all the PMs are in sooner, because the Master have more time for the write ups or be less mad for don't receive the PMs on time.
Just some suggestions.
It's hard to see some games gets the PMs so late because that situation dissapoint the Mod.
(BTW: I'm really happy that in all my games I receive a lot of Pms on time, thanks!).
so, I have to ask, why do not send the PMs on time. :p

Honestly, I feel if people don't have their PM's in on time, they missed their chance.
If there is an extension given, make there be some bonus for those that were timely or penalties for those that didn't make the deadline (e.g. - in "Buffy 1" people that PM'ed on time were often exempted from the random deaths that could happen when a lynch wasn't achieved for the day.)
Fascinatingly, a few days of stuff like that and people got -much- better about PM'ing on time. ;)

Which is why I have a strict "No PM, no action" rule. I don't believe in sending reminders and (unless there are extenuating circumstances that affect everyone equally) I don't believe in granting extensions just so that PM's can be sent in. The point of playing is participating in the game. No PM's = no participation. The game must move on. That is my view on the matter, anyhow.
I don't believe in "No PM, no action". I randomize targets. But, not completely random. Let's just say that every night you miss, the chances of you targeting the PGO that night increase. Might seem unfair, but I have very little patience for non-participating players.

Most times, I agree - no extension. I do start to break down and give them though when, say, only a quarter of folks (many of them not being key roles) have sent in the PM. I hate caving in at that point but feel like doing the game with barely any PM's in also shoots the game. :( Ergo my "punishment compromise".

What kills me is when super active players don't get theirs in. I have been guilty of it as well, and I can understand to a point. BUt when I have been missing pms for 3 days, and havn't opened because I lacked the mental fortitude to do so, I feel like they really should have.
I'm also kinda wishy washy.

Well what happens, to me at least, is when your in like 10 games you lose track.

Sometimes, when a long extention is given, I can't remember if I've sent in an action or not.
If the night gets extended and I'm one of the people that is being waited on, a pm will probably get an action from me really quickly. I know some people are of the "I don't pm to get actions. It is your responsibility." school of thought but I just thought I'd throw that out there.
Well as this threads here and people will be checking it MARIO KART PLAYERS GET YOUR PMS IN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
carry on everyone else ;)

I don't care what the rule, is, but please highlight it at the beginning of the game (and not just hide it in the boilerplate) for those who don't know.
I have missed night actions thinking I had actually sent it in, which sucks, which is why I send reminders. But I can get behind no extensions.

Yeah between for me its mainly because i go well I know i sent one in and then go wait was that in All Stars, Thunderbolts or Secret War arggh. Really hurts if you ever get the same person in 2 separate games. And at least once I sent an action and it never got through sadly which likely cost me the game

My way to do it is: No extention time. and "No PM, No Action". I don't like Random targets because people don't know what they have done the night before.
I PM to the people, I don't have problem with that. But I'm lucky that a lot of people send the PMs on time. (Thanks for that!).
The Problem is when the "Must have" PMs never come on time. It may be one or 2, but wow, it made eveything harder. :p
