So if you were to play 3 of the Fantastic 4 from the coming starter set (based only on what we've seen and whatever meta-gaming or proxying you might do... if you have that kind of time)... who do you leave off for a 300pt game?
I've heard some bad-mouthing of Sue, but I think Mr. F (not an MR-F), would have to sit out.
So take your guess based on all your speculation.

Human Torch.
You can get better running shooters elsewhere.
The rest all have lives so good I clap every time I see their dials.
What is Invisible Woman having 10 attack on the 5th click?
Benny Grimm, if only thematically, as he's the lovable brute.
I'm still trying to make this adjustment -- and initially taking refuge in my generally avoiding tourney play any more, so 400+ pt games are my norm. Breaking up the FF this way is like making a set of only three of the four classic elements.
At the moment whether or not Sue makes the cut may largely depend on whether or not I expect to be playing on an indoor map. Indoors, especially on a somewhat cluttered map, she becomes much more valuable.
That's easy - The Thing.
I don't feel right playing a figure that's not worth his points. Sorry, pal you'll have to sit this one out. ;)
This is a great poll! I was actually thinking to myself that the Thing would need Full move charge....which he has. The Torch ain't so great without Mr Fantastic +2'ing his stats....the Thing is great all on his own!

I said Thing, as the kids would much rather play with Uncle Ben than Uncle Johnny. The kids would rather get a finger crushed than burnt off, don't ya think. I do.

thats funny I thought he was undercost? full movement charge and either quake or make a CC attack. and removing tokens from friendly characters,... thats Much better then Warbound,... those two SP made me love him,... slap on the 18 D and 4 clix of 10 or higher attack and full dial of 3 or more damage,... :knockedou he is going to see a ton of play time or should I say Clobberin' Time! :)

YES!
rep and such....
If I could only use them in a 300-point game, I'd probably leave Sue at home. Reed's super-Perplex is just too good, and makes Torch and Thing into pounding bruisers.

anyone who would leave Sue at home with the baby while the "men" go and fight is sexist, there I said it..

Dang. I misread the question. I thought it was like who has to babysit the kids while mommy and daddy go on a date, instead of who babysits the kids while the other three go out and beat up bad guys.
My team would be everyone but Torch, just because of the awesome synergy. BUT, I put Thing has the babysitter cause all of the kids love him.

That was me being sarcastic. guess I should have used a descriptive smilie. :)
And from what has been said in the general discussion topic, he does appear to be very undercosted just like you said.

I wouldn't use them in a 300pts game at all honestly since I can't bare to separate the Fantastic Four, however, in the spirit of the poll, Human Torch since he does really add anything to the others. Benny can take off an action token, Sue has TK up front, and Reed gives you +2. Johnny's special power only works well when he's by himself.

i had to vot for johnny cos his scuplt looks ugly but in a 300 point game i'd just play all 4 and hope noone noticed ;)

Gotta be Sue.
Reed acts as support making Thing into a bigger close combat beast and Johnny into a bigger ranged threat. Sue would be just kind of "there" in any other instance. Regulated to awkward support with TK and Barrier and as a secondary attacker. Reed gets his own (noticably shorter) Barrier halfway down his dial along with a ton of Outwit. Reed does more throughout his dial as far as Support goes. Sue's not bringing too much after taking a good hit. Reed can do just as much (for once) with his Outwit and if anyone wants to base him while he's got Plasticity leaving them stuck while Johnny and Ben roam free? Great. :p

Wouldn't it have been SO much better if each of the FF were only 75 points?
Even if the standard build moves to 400 points, I'm not sure Sue and Johnny are worth it at 100 points each.
Every set seems to feature figures who will most likely NEVER see board time (see Jericho from Crisis). Doesn't make sense to apply this same principal to a box-set like FF.

I'll only play the Fantastic Four together in 400.
I mean, Ben Grimm loves the kids, but I'm not playing 3 of those figures just so I can play Fantastic Four in a 300.
Actually, I would have preferred the 4 to fit in a 300, how hard would that have been, 55 point Sue Storm, 65 point Reed Richards, 75 point Johnny Storm, 105 point Ben Grimm.
Then you have Doom at 130 with two 35 point Doombots.
Eh . . .

Invulnerability, immune to line of fire from a distance, tk upfront, and fantastic four is not worth 100?
As for Torch, we're talking 4 clicks of Running Shot and poison. That's expensive no matter how you slice it.
The cost is right, though it could have had better thought (Human Torch didn't need that many clicks of running shot).

another ruined torch..:tired: FLAME ON!!...HALF OF ME!
:o So, when you are a parent of two young children, you tend to read things more quickly and differently...I voted Mr. Fantastic, thinking of babysitting CHILDREN...not who is going to sit out in a 300 point game...oops...well, since I haven't even really looked at the figs, I'm going to explain why I voted for an actual babysitter.
THING- Big Ben might love the kids, and his rocky exterior would probably make him tons of fun. However, I just don't see him being good in the kitchen, and good luck changing that diaper, Ben!
HUMAN TORCH- Ummm...if you like to grill out, then this is your guy. If you like your children alive, I'd stay away.
INVISIBLE WOMAN- 2nd place in my voting. The big plus (no, not that she's a woman) is that she can probably do some pretty cool tricks with her powers. Unfortunately, I can envision my kids freaking out, running around the house frantically searching for the babysitter.
MR. FANTASTIC- The winner! If you've ever had kids, you know that there just aren't enough hands to get everything done. Mr. Fantastic only has two hands, but how awesome would it be to be changing a diaper in the living room and then get the phone in the kitchen SIMULTANEOUSLY! And while he probably isn't the warmest personality, he could invent some pretty cool gadgets to keep the kids occupied.
I voted Johnny.
Let Reed Perplex Ben up, and Sue send him out to pick up a heavy object cough*Meteorite*cough and wreak some havoc.
A 'Thing' of beauty ;)
I love how everybody said The Thing was going to suck and they would never play a 100 pt Ben.
If I was playing 300 pts I would use Thing(love close combat) and Torch as my range piece and have Reed backing them up with his +2.
Invisible Woman has alot of tricks but I would save them for 400 pts team were her team abilities (telek/barrier) mean more.

I have to say Sue, though they're all good.
I'm hugely surprised by the number of people who voted Thing. Though, on the other hand, he is more of a stand-alone, while the others all are great with the rest of the F4, and not so much solo.

Gaaahh! I read it wrong. I thought it was a "who carries the others" thread so I voted Reed.
If I had to leave one off it would be Johnny. He's not that great of a flying, running shooter for his points (his Forces versions are better at near the same cost). Sue can carry Ben, Ben hides behind Sue to avoid outwit and Charges in next turn, while Reed perplexes.

i don't think people understand this question. why would they leave off the thing? he is the best of them all. i picked human torch because of his end dial. horrible end dial. good question though.
It was a tough one, they are all pretty good for their points but in the end, uncle johnny has to babysit though i am sure the kids won't like it

There's just no way that people wouldn't use Ben. I expected his number of votes not to break single digits.

So alright, maybe I didn't read the question posed in the post, but the title was truly misleading.
We need a do over.
I chose Thing to watch the kids because he is more responsible than Johnny. Reed and Sue would usually be the only ones on the team who would need a babysitter so I didn't count them.
As for the actual question addressed by the post no one read, I would leave out Sue. Human Torch is Armor Piercing's wet dream. The other 2 (Mr. Fantastic and Thing) are a given, if you ask me.

Torch is not just ugly, he also has a stupid special power that allows him to do what he can already do as a flyer. He stays home, the others are useful, and Thing is downright broken.

Because of overall att values and TK you have to bring Sue to back Thing. Piling on Reed's Perplex is the logical next move. ESD vs. Inv is a big factor too, but not as much as Sue hitting long after Johnny is nerfed.
Its tempting to play a guys-night-out, but tactically Sue is better since Ben can handle himself well.
EDIT: Regardless though Thing will shine as the main attacker on a swarm team.

I gotta say it's guys' night out. Sue stays at home. Ben is brutal for his points, Johnny's the best shooter, and Reed's support suite outshines Sue's (Double Perplex and Outwit beat TK and Barrier, in my book).
All the boys gives you good balance, too; 1 clobberer (and how!), 1 shooter, and 1 auxiliary support guy who can fight. If you trade Storms, Sue for Johnny, I think you'd be relying on Thing too much, even if Sue is teke'ing him all over the board.

Oh, I just voted off the front page. I most imagine the Thing babysitting Franklin Richards in a F4 backup story.
As for the real question of the thread--well frankly I'd never play this team at 300. Three of the Fantastic Four? That's just wrong. But if forced to choose, I guess I'd pick Sue to leave out. Keep Thing for damage output and Johnny for ranged possibilities. Reed holds the team together.
