I like it, but that Mystics TA will forever bother me.

I'll start it off. Yes we received a great new Dr. Doom in the starter set. However, much like Cosmic Doom, this is not the standard every-day Latverian ruler. This one is specifically from a comic story arc. It seems very comic accurate, in both powers and sculpt. As with most new figures, we really don't know if it's undercosted, overcosted, or costed accurately until it's played a few times. Based on all of this, I love the new Doom.

Based on all of this, I love the new Doom. It's DOOM!

I like him for the cool Ringo! inspired sculpt, the I'm-wearing-my-former-lovers-skin sorcery version, and the Mystics TA now in Marvel.
I do think his dial is lacking for 249 points. But I'll still play him for he is Doom.

I actually don't like the sculpt. I wish they would have kept the green tunic on him. I love his built in will power and mystics TA, though.

Mystics Doom is pretty good for what he does, but won't see much play in 300-400 point game due to his cost. He might be able to deal retaliation damage, but when cheaper BCF characters are used to attack him (Talia, Gamora), he can easily be swarmed and defeated.
I suppose the same can be said of any figure, but at 250 points, there are other characters I'd rather use; I think the CT Vet is still the most balanced, as he can wildcard different TAs each round (KC/Hypertime to prevent characters from getting in close, Mystics, Avengers/T-Bolts, etc.), and Mastermind the damage off to most characters.

isn't the Mystics TA a DC TA?

I like it. It'll give a Doom team a TA to WC offa.
I like using older Dooms and his various doombots, and affiliates. Hated having a TA that required them to out-source to get the proper support.

isn't the Mystics TA a DC TA?
Yeah, but I never saw a reason Marvel characters couldn't use it.
too bad they left it off the newest Marvel PAC (Fantastic Four Starter)

isn't the Mystics TA a DC TA?
No, it's a Heroclix TA. Though Doom is the first Marvel character to have it.

every click has psychic blast, which is awesome. Too bad he doesn't have sharpshooter so he can't use it when he's based (the only rule change I hate is that fliers can't make ranged attacks anymore)

I like him. He brings in the Mystic TA to Marvel, lots of PB, he has Indomitable, all cool. Though I think for 240 + pts I'd rather have Mordru.

I like what I see, wouldn't say I love him yet though. Need to play him a fews times for that I guess.

Indeed. And I liked the storyline, and I love the costume (seriously, if you haven't read it, there's a reason it looks that weird.) So, a KIRBY!-sized thumbs-up for the sculpt for me. :g-colossal:

A Poll with an actual range of options. Nice!
I love the new Doom. Much like Cosmic Doom, it gives us something different to play with if we're not in the mood for the standard Dr. Doom. So if anyone's complaining about getting options . . . then that's just dumb.
I also don't care about the Mystics TA being on him. It's already a broken TA that's never going to get changed or at least become "Non-copy-able". Plus, it really fits.

That's the first piece in a long time they completely surprised me with. "Unthinkable is absolutely Doom at his best(Worst). I would have never guessed they'd bring Mystics over for him that is unprecedented. The fact that he's not SR is even better for me.

I like an ubermagic Doom I dislike the Meat-Sack Armor storyline, so I'm tearing off the sculpt and putting a classic Doom sculpt on it. Doom should be this kind of powerful anyway, although I have a feeling his numbers won't make him as uber as he should be.

I didnt read this particular story arc, but, he's a rare, he has bombastic powers on the level of the cosmic doom, and he looks tight, why wouldnt I love the little dictator.

Like the green tunic or not, he wasn't wearing it during that story arc (http://www.comicvine.com/unthinkable/39-47439/91233-unthinkable/105-199195/?offset=3). The sculpt accurately reflects the character as they appeared at that time. Including a tunic because "it looked cooler" or whatever would have made it many times worse for me.
And I love the figure.

Having story-centric clix, like this one. May make some people (like me) want to go out and see if they can pick it up in trade. Which is a nice 'plus' for Marvel, I'm sure.
BTW, has this story-arc been released in TPB?
And how many issues did it take-up?
nothing but love for the despot!

I love the new Doom. First character for marvel with mystics, and first with indomitable, which is important for a figure of his point cost.

I will say I like the new Doom from SI, because I haven't played him yet or played against him yet. Once that happens, my opinion of him may change.
Thanks,

Yep, it's Fantastic Four, volume 2: Unthinkable, by Mr. Waid. Great writing and characterization for Doom in there.
I love this new Doom, and there's something i think everybody has missed here. In comparison to Mordru who can outwit all the powers of a character 4 or fewer squares away, this Doom can counter all the powers OR ABILITIES! of a character 6! or fewer squares away. Thats some serious power right there. Cant wait to see him in action.
Peace

At this point, I like the new Doom. It's possible I'll adjust my opinion upon actually playing the clix, but until then it's not love. ;)

I realised, too, that this Doom has a built-in immunity to one of the Mystics TA's weaknesses with the Indomitable Defence... hellagood, that one.

It's all love, baby.
Come on "Love the new Doom"'s! We can crush those indecisive "Like the new Doom"'s!
I like him, I don't love him, just cause I prefer classic style Doom when it comes to looks, but I am very happy when WK makes very story arc specific variants of characters.

I think I speak for just about every true Doom fan when I say:
I love the Sculpt, the Dial looks like a lot of fun, and it's just another great Doom figure to mess with. The more unique Dooms the better. Really, he's got figures that represent several favorite stories of mine so far. (Cosmic, Unthinkable, 2099)
Also, for anyone who doesn't already know, Ultimate Doom isn't even Doom. His name is Victor Van Damme. But at least they got rid of his goat legs.

Hate it. It's tainted by the stench of fail that follows Mark Waid around.

More than 82% of the Realmsers are positive towards the new Doom figure. It appears that skin wins.

Doom proves that you can win people over by showing some skin.

He seems cool enough. It's a little surprising they wouldn't give Dr. Strange the Mystic treatment if they had this planned anyway.

The Doom dislikers make up less than 6% of this survey. However, those who oppose Doom seem to make up more than 90% of the threads. I will have the official remarks from the Latverian Embassy tomorrow.

His numbers don't seem great, but I do like him. I don't like to play ultra high-point figures, but he'll definitely see board time with me.
I guess it's the team ability & indomitable that you're paying for...
