View Full Version : New Giant Rules: Chemo Unleashed
With the new giant rules coming into effect with the FF set out shortly, Giants are finally going to do what I want them to do.
Particularly my favorite, Chemo.
What would you all put on him to make him an absolute monster as far as feats, and even BFC's go?
And just as I wrote that, i recalled the 10% rule as far as feats go. Now is that 10% of his point cost, or 10% of the teams point cost?
Chemo needs to shine!

10% of the build total, so for 300, you get 30 points worth of feats.
What exactly is it that you want your giants to do?
Crush everything in their path?
seriously, I want Chemo to stay alive (autoregen?) and really maximize his poison output (toxic burst).
Is there more I can do to make him a real killer?
I wonder if I could sculpt a 300 point team around him, with teammates designed to maximize his reign of terror...
I'm not looking for the next LAMP here, I'm just a fan of the big guy and want to see him score a couple of wins

Does it really have to use Chemo? 144 points its hard to build around when it drops to a 7 attack, 14 defense, and only has 5 movement.
Yeah like I said, he's a favorite of mine, whether or not he's all that great is irrelevant.
That fact that he has the 7 attack, etc is why I'm trying to make him better. If he was better to begin with, I wouldnt need to lol

Forget Toxic Burst. It's not that good. If it worked vs. Stealth, it would be, but...no. If you insist on using it, be sure to have sacrifices ready to feed his Suicide Squad TA.

No specific pieces but obvious support roles are required OW, PC, Perplex, Enhancement. Hey, is the DC Giants set retired, I'm a BIG Legion Fan and Colossal Boy came out with Chemo? If the set is retired low point support pieces are available, if not you might have a little trouble building a team around him.

Repulsor - i think we should discuss this as an option here, with this you have absolute control of who gets to get all buddy-buddy with everyone's favorite tub of radioactive lard, not to mention the chance for extra "knockback damage."
Whirlwind - maybe not as useful as you would want to keep enemies in as close as possible so you can make use of poison, but what if you get swarmed?
Disentigrate - to help keep that impervious around if you happen to run into any Super Strengthers
Coordination - perfect to have another Suicide Squadder hidden behind the "meat shield" that Chemo is. Pop a shot out from behind him and IF someone can get around behind him to take out your "sniper" you could always Force Blast them away. I used a simular strategy with Toyman and "Batman" Superman, sit em in hindering terrain and watch people get frustrated by not being able to take out a nutcracker in a bush.
Fortitude - only if you can't think of anything better
Terrify - not for chemo but for a buddy (perhaps your coordination fig) its kind of like forceblast and incap all in one
Takedown - good for slowing down someone else's mid-game, this is just MORE frustration b/c IF they finally get in close enough to hit him with melee IF they miss they get screwed over more b/c of it. this is purely if you want to capitalize on the "he's a giant lets focus all of our attention on him" effect.
Point Blank - could be fun with Repulsor, +1 attk., Knockback (for 4).
Maneuver - OK so you've got the dude in square 2 of Chemo's Close Combat Area but you want him to be in adjacency so you can "poison-it-up."
Repulsor +10
Point Blank +4
Coordination +6
Takedown +4
Chemo +144
= 168
132 left to spend
Bronze Tiger 60
Red Arrow 73
King Shark 100
Major Disaster 59
all viable help
Yeah like I said, he's a favorite of mine, whether or not he's all that great is irrelevant.
Rep coming for this attitude.

The Giants set is NOT retired.
That may have been illegal. Coordination only works off team symbols, not team ability; Toyman shouldn't have been able to see "through" Superman since they don't share the team symbol. But until he gains Earthbound, Toyman could see over Supes just fine and yet use the Batman TA to disguise himself as a very large hedge.
Remember that Coordination means that Chemo does NOT block LOF to the fig using the feat. It would need to have its own Stealth to hide. Coordination on Chemo is pointless; as a giant he'll be able to see past any other Suicide Squad characters anyhow.
